I'm wondering if I should get full Vog Cub, full Skolver, or a combination of both. The reason is the Vog Cub gives increased attack speed, which my current sword already gives me a high bonus, and the Skolver gives damage bonus. I'm not sure if combining a piece from both sets would be more effective or not because usually having the full set seems better.
I have a Wise Owlite Shield, ASI high Ascended Calibur, and an Avenger.
Another pointless Vog vs Skolver thread! These are almost as common as CE whining threads.
Mix both sets unless you want to actually get a third or fourth weapon and not be completely screwed whenever a situation requiring a different weapon comes along.
If you love your avenger a lot and spam FSC then Vog.Skolver for other.
Vog:
Skolver isn't bad, but Vog is good in so many ways. It has elemental defense, which is a big threat in FSC; even more than shadow (which isn't much of a threat anyway). Then of course Vog has fire protection, which you will dearly miss the 500 times you are set on fire in the FSC. Attack speed increase isn't bad either: Doing everything faster means more damage.
Skolver:
Extra sword damage may be tempting, but Piercing and Freeze defense should not be your priorities in tier 3. Of course, if you don't do FSC a lot then it isn't so bad. Usually, though, I'd go with Vog. If you really want Skolver I recommend adding a fire UV.
So yeah, my advice should be obvious enough.
I use a Levi with ASI Very High and one piece of Vog, giving me ASI Max. I'm so used to playing with ASI Max that when I'm not wearing that piece of Vog (heating a costume or whatever) it is noticeably slower.

The thing about Vog that I find makes it better than Skolver is not the damage. The faster attack speed makes everything smoother, and as a result you will have an easier time dodging or shielding because your sword swing will immobilize you for less time. I will go out on a limb and say that even the elemental defense is less relevant than the increased maneuverability- it is the same reason I disregard piercing defense, because almost all sources of pierce damage are easy to dodge. However, the fire resist will make a huge difference.
I agree, ASI is very important. One thing about elemental defense, though--surely you would agree it's more important than piercing defense in tier 3.
