So I was just doing a simple Tier 1 run when I knocked open a green box and got a Wolver Cap. I know, not a majorly amazing item. Still, that's odd. I've been playing this since the game went public, and that's the first time that happened to me.
Is this the case for any of you?
It happens. I got a chroma mask from a JK box. Very rare though.

So equipment is dropped... just rarely.
Yup. Got a skelly mask in my first run in Candlestick Keep. Seemed fitting.
I've gotten a Brute Jelly helm and Prismatech Alchemer MKII from the gardens in Aurora Isles, and a Brandish as a prize from an old danger room.
It's nice when they drop, but it happens so rarely I wouldn't eer count on it happening more than once, I've just been really lucky.
I've gotten a breaker shield (don't remember which one, frost I think), some sword that wasn't anything special, and a Shadow Driver that i sold for 200k crowns. I don't play all that often. You can call me lucky, but I think not seeing an equipment drop at all, period, despite playing every day since the steam release is ridiculously unlucky. I started playing with the steam release too, and I don't go down into the clockworks all that much.
I'm not sure, shrink, OOO may have set the drop rate so low that maybe what I got was the norm, haha.
Equipment drops can happen on any floor, but what drops seems to be influenced somewhat on what the floor is. That is not to say a Jelly Helm won't drop on a Wolver floor, it's just more likely to drop on a Jelly floor.
Have gotten a couple, but I'm very lucky also.

I've got one and only one item drop - a Rock Jelly Armor (4*, normal/piercing with stun/sleep resists) from a green box on first level of Jelly Palace. Three other PUG players just returned to Haven before that level too, so I didn't even need to share it.
During the Preview I found a Chroma set and a Virulisk Mask. I was one of the first to get those items. It was exciting. Sadly, I haven't found anything since then.
blame my luck, i only got super slime slayer and super stun gun (1*star non upgradeable items)
the only thing i knew tht could drop was trinkets from the luv puppies i didnt no u could git better armor in those drops aswell :P
I've played since it was released on steam also and only gotten a Toxic Vapouriser (2*) from a tier 2 poison themed level, it definitely seems the level type affects the possible drops (also the star rating)
Shame its insanely rare
I joined the day of the Steam release (by coincidence, I don't play on Steam), have played every day and have seen only one equipment drop, which was a Wolver Coat in the Garden of Goo. However, I also know of four other equipment drops that my friends have seen-- A Crystal Bomb, a Blizzbreaker Armor, and two Jelly Helms.
I still possess that Wolver Coat XD
I found a wyvern scale mail before the binding update, and a friend of mine found a grey owlite shield. Both sold for a fortune. :D I've also found a brandish, a fiery vaporizer, an ionized salt bomb, a prismatech alchemer and a spiral demo helm before, and the other day a party member found an emberbreak shield.
..I've definitely been lucky.
I almost wonder if OOO did something sneaky like tweak the item drops so that free players see them less frequently or not at all.
Either that or I just am unlucky. I mean, the first time I hit a candlestick keep level, the very first room I entered glitched on me causing the gate not to drop when I had cleared out the monsters.
i found a 1* scale helm that I gave away and and alchemer when soloing, and the other day a dude in my party found another alchemer
I've seen four equipment drops: a brute jelly shield, a heavy hatchet, a firotech alchemer, and a shadowtech alchemer mk ii.
I just got a toxic vaporizer today from a concrete jungle - blight boulevard in tier 3.
Not that I even want it, nor will I ever use it. Also, I got a crystal bomb 2 months ago, but I didn't even realise until the next day, so I have no idea where it dropped.
The problem with equipment drops is that they're so rare that you're incredibly lucky to have one happen - only for it to turn out to be a jelly helm or some weapon you won't use, wasting that luck.

Anyways, I got a Brute Jelly Shield in the treasure boxes after the third room of an slime arena (I got this a long time ago and it was an arena before RJP). The other rare drop I got was a Sinister Skelly Suit (the 4* one), I never knew that I had it until the next day where I checked my inventory list and saw that the number of armor was a bit weird. I almost always go on JK runs and at that time, an Undead stratum was before it so I guess that I got it from arenas or somewhere in that stratum. I sold Skelly to a friend shortly after but really regretted selling (since Devilites are my main concerns).
I found a 4* Virulisk Mask around 5 days ago and since I never equipped it it was never bound to me... so I fortunately didn't have to pay the very high unbinding price. It sold for 2500 CE, which made me very happy =) I'd found a Toxic Vaporizer around 3 weeks ago.
I found it in a poison beast clockworks tunnel.
Wow, I had thought that equipment drops had all but stopped except on the very rare occasion - but it seems while still very rare, it looks like you can even find 4* or 5* gear.
Back in the preview that I was a part of, equipment drops weren't very rare at all, but you mostly found lots of 1* and 2* gear. (I recall having upwards of 10 emberbreak shields at one point, but not all in one run obviously). Of course, the only way back then to get the Sealed Sword was to find it in a treasure box.
the first was a toxic vaporizer in a teir 2 poison areana the next was a rock jelly shield in the level before jk and the last when i was helping my freind in tier1 i found a calibur but out of all three i only got the calibur ........sucks right
I've never gotten equipment form a treasure box, and this is the first time I've heard of it.
I'm surprised that green ones can drop equipment. Does anyone know if the colour of the box affects the quality, or is it based solely on depth?

1st was a Surge Breaker Armor and the 2nd was a Graviton Bomb. (sold at AH for 135,000cr)

I don't think so, since I'm a "free" player that had quite a few great drops already. Playing since steam release and got most of my great drops when soloing tier 3 arenas:
5* Big Angry Bomb
4* Virulisk Mask (poison arena)
4* Rock Jelly Helm (not sure if this was JK though)
4* Heavy Plate Helm (shared that one with my teammate)
Equipment drops are rare, but they happen. I got a skelly suit from a T2 run once. I don't know where I got it. I only noticed it after I ran though the area and had an extra skelly suit in my inventory.

But I'm still having fun, and that's what matters; equipment drops or none.

I've never had an equipment drop, and I've been playing almost every day since the steam release. Closest thing so far is getting a piece of rock salt this afternoon in the party boxes after defeating the Roarmulus Twins, of all things.
