I really think this should be an option. Permanence is so Diablo 2! I like my color choice, but I might grow tired of it later on and I'd rather not have to make a new character :<
Personal Color Change?
Making it that much CE would kind of be pigeon-holing people though. >.>
People who want to keep playing it free would have to make massive amounts of crowns to get up to 1000 CE, even 500 CE would be moderately difficult. Especially considering the only way to make crowns is by using energy to run dungeons or by doing alchemy for other people.
12,500 crowns would have to be raised for 500 CE, 25,000 for 1000 CE. Personally, I haven't even seen my crowns above 12k, because I also want to have the necessary armor to advance in the tiers.
And with what little knowledge of programming I have, I can say that allowing the user to change their color scheme wouldn't be that difficult to implement. They would pretty much just have to add a function that would allow the user to buy a color change, and then reuse the code for the initial color selection process, essentially.
The price is high to discourage people from changing their name and color all the time. I'd rather it be an option at a high price than not an option at all. A low price option would be the best of both worlds, sure, but I doubt OOO wants people changing these all the time. It could also serve as incentive to invest IRL cash in the game.
Either way, it's fair they charge you high for a name/color change, and I just want one available. I still think 500-1000 CE is a fair trade.
If you're going to allow color changes, I demand unique colors unavailable at initial creation. I'd be more than happy to pay an exorbitant price for a gray name.
It would be incentive to drop real money into the game, but some people don't even want to spend the $0.75 to get 200 CE.
And I can get behind it being expensive to discourage people from changing all the time, but I think it should scale rather than start off being high. Like, start at 100 CE, then increase exponentially each time they want to do it again. That way if you derped on your initial selection, you kind of get a mulligan.
If they would want to start it high to begin with, then I definitely think there should be a larger selection of secondary colors, instead of just the six they have at start up.
A colour changing NPC could be an awesome addition to the Guild Hall. I'd say making it a Guild-Only service, and cost somewhere around 250 energy, would make it a balanced part of the game.
i asked the devs at the beggining of the official release about this after i clicked pink instead of yellow...(damn you bullies jks) they said they hope to implement it in the future =p
1. Pay Energy
2. Pick Color / style / etc
Everyone happy.
I agree this idea to Change Color. +1 ♪
Just signing on that this option NEEDS to appear, and sooner rather than later.
My neon green color looked great when paired with the muted brown of the spiral sallet.
But now that I've moved onto Salamander Suit I look like a kid's drawing. I'm lit up like a garrish christmas lizard. I'm a clownish stoplight.
It's not cool, man. I had no idea salamander suits existed when I first started playing this game. If I had known, perhaps I could have planned.
But I did not.
Please give us the option to give Sega CE in exchange for color change.
lollin @ "garrish christmas lizard"
Agree on the color change. My suggestion would be that a single change would cost 100-250 CE (for people like Lymojo and me, who picked their color before and then later realized that they really wanted to wear an armor set that clashed pretty badly with it) and that there would be a bind-on-use or bind-on-purchase item that would allow at-will changes for something like 1000-2500 CE (for people who want to have a bunch of different suits and change their colors to match. Possibly have a cheaper and more expensive form or either/both where the more expensive form lets you pick from a wider range of colors.
Strongly disagree on the name change. This isn't about making yourself anonymous. This is about having a color that matches your armor.
Yesss! Just the idea that I wanted. I would really like to change my color! :D
I couldn't agree more with this - there needs to be a purchasable /something/ to enable the personal colour change - even if it's an individual costume slot, with purchasable colour-scheme items [Or dyes, as I've read one another similar topic]. Having recently invested in the Salamander suit, I find myself in the same position as Lymojo, and it's just plain not pretty.
For this whole color change thing i think it would be a great idea.
I picked Neon Green and its my favorite color... however now with my Wolver and other armor i look terrible...
After all I now regret my color and would want a new one. Even if its gonnoa cost some crowns or CE im totaly all for it!
Lets get this in the game people!
You pay 50E/CE to Change either Color & for each change, it multiplies.
Ex.
1st Change to Color-50E/CE
2nd Change to Color-100E/CE
3rd Change-200E/CE
& so on.
Also, it's different for each color, like if I changed my Color1 to Green than Red for 50E/CE, it'll be 100E/CE next time. Then, if I try to change my Color2, it'll be 50E/CE, so like a different path.
(Sorry if that didn't make sense. I'm not good at explaining things.)
Name change would disrupt a lot of things (e.g. friend lists). Color change seems harmless and could be a crown/CE sink. Win-win.
Yeah, can't change names, would be too disruptive to social interactions.
Eye color change would be nice though. I found the eye color to really clash with the predetermined colors in armor at times. Alternatively, being able to recollect armor would be nice. Maybe choose primary/secondary color like in that other OOO game. What if it was a player service, use a bunch of mats to craft a particular color then sell it as a dye.
I think adding a color change setting under your knight's profile would be a great idea! I know that sooner or later I'm going to get bored of my current colors
I support color change, not name change though.
color changes would be a fixed price; 5-10k CR
please give us a larger palette of colors, including grey and black.
Make it crowns, not energy.
I don't care how expensive it is, but this game needs more crown sinks.
I may be missing something there, but are Energy sinks not Crown sinks by extension? Sure they're effected by the market value, but still...?
Energy and Crowns are two distinct currencies in the game that can be swapped. The rate of exchange is influenced by a number of things, but excluding artificial market manipulation by people with hundreds of thousands of energy, one of the major ones is unique viability.
Energy used to have the most unique viability: you needed it for going down the clockworks, for reviving, for crafting gear, for Trinket/Weapon slots, and for about half or more of the cost of crafting. By comparison, Crowns were only used for buying terribly overpriced gear from vendors, and recipes: that was the major (only, really) crown sink.
Trading with other players was primarily done in energy for all items that really mattered: thus crowns were barely a meaningful currency in the game.
That changed quite a bit with the inclusion of the Auction House: now everyone needs crowns to use it, because it doesn't accept Energy as a form of currency. This balanced the energy/crown market considerably for a few weeks when it was threatening to reach ridiculous levels, because everyone who buys energy no longer can just trade that energy directly for the items they want: they have to convert it to crowns, which in the quickest and sometimes most efficient way means selling it to players for their crowns.
This was offset a bit by the reduction in recipe costs (crown sink) and a massive increase in energy cost (energy sink), but it still made the market a bit more stable for awhile longer.
Overall the more energy sinks there are in the game, the more lopsided the market will be: the more crown sinks, the less lopsided (this is nearly always the case, unless they ever make using elevators and reviving use crowns instead, which they wouldn't and shouldn't).
As an aside, the market is now steadily rising to breaking point again due to the artificial manipulators mentioned earlier. If the AH hadn't been introduced though, or if it had allowed Energy to be used instead of crowns, we would already be facing a market of 8k+ per 100 energy.
I'm red! And now that im getting divine/skolver. Well... blue would look so much nice.
Huh, I honestly hadn't thought about it that way - thanks for the logical, insightful info. Much appreciated sir!
I'd like to change my color to bloack or white... i'd a been nice to have the option of either tha 2... the coolest i could get was red which well with my wolver coat... but later on as it upgrades it won't look good probably...
i have tellowand it perfectly marches Wolver coat but will suck with the skolver ones and bog cube one I totally agree with you guys
This would be fantastic, I hate my color already and desperately want something new. It would also be nice to have multiple color sets available for different gear sets.
Basically I started the game with a yellow/gold sort of personal color around 1-2 months ago because I figured that it didn't matter and it looked best with the NOOB gear.... Now I have primarily 4* gear but with a 5* gran faust and a 3 star Heavy Plate shield.
The problem is I am going to upgrade my 4* seraphic mail and helmet to the 5* fallen set once the pieces gain 1 more level each but the set will look SILLY with gold eyes, If I could change my color to a dark blue/purple that would be great.
P.S I would make a new character with a different personal color but there is no shared stash in this game so I guess I will be the bright yellow-eyed guy wearing evil armor...lovely.
I'd rather have a customization kit than having to pay thousands of crowns every time I wanted to swap colours, because the more items I get, the more I'd get the urge to swap colours to match the armour. This would quickly go from a mere 10K to several millions in a short amount of time, and I'd like to not be charged every time I get the urge to change colours. I like customization, but that's just not worth it.
Instead, I'd much like to spend 100K crowns on a customization kit, which allows you to change at any one time. Sure, damn expensive, but heck, I'd rather have a high one-time payment than individual payouts every time. Of course, actual price can be debated.
As for name change... No. Just no. I've played other MMOs that allowed name changing, and I ended up not knowing who half of my friends were. Good idea in theory, but horrible in practice.
Why would you like to pay just to change your Color?
OMG You all are really mad... >_________>
Because some people grow bored of their colour or realize later on that it was a bad choice, mostly in relation to armour. Sure, I'd like to change it for free, but some games aren't too nice with free stuff and I'm not expecting this one to be either. (Especially seeing how everything in the game has a price in one form or other.)
Sah yeah. I'm just hoping that it won't become "charge-per-change", because that would really kill it. I refer to my idea in post #30.
I would like to bump this, as it is an idea I'd like to see implemented. I took a guess, made a cool 5* armor for no other reason than cosmetic, and it turns out it would look a lot cooler if I was not red. :'(
CE for color change is reasonable, and yes, it should be expensive enough to keep people from doing it often.
CE for colour change? No, no, and again, no. We do not need a CE drain for something that doesn't have anything to do with actual gameplay. CE is used for that. Elevators, resurrection, crafting, gates... Stuff that involves playing the game. Changing your colour won't affect anything but how you look. It won't make you stronger, it won't give you access to anything special, it won't do nothing but change your colour. Do you honestly believe we should be forced to pay CE to change your character colour? That is nowhere near reasonable in my book.
And I'll say this again, I do not want a charge-per-change, but a one-time payment to unlock the ability to do so. Sorry for getting aggressive, but the thought of paying CE for a colour change just ticked me off. No, the thought of paying real-life money for a colour change ticked me off, as that is the only way to bring CE to the game.
One idea I like is to use shards for this. Add dye recipes that take the appropriate combinations of shards for the color, plus the usual crown/energy cost for crafting. You would need to buy the recipe to do this, and fancier dyes would be higher-star recipes.
Well, why not? I want change my color to blue right now, to tell the truth.
The idea on post#30 is really good too.
How about this; combine two ideas that are floating around the forums:
A gremlin outcast in Emberlight has discovered how to upgrade your base armour! For a not-insignificant amount of cash/ce this Tinker will add functionality so that, in addition to it's distillation and storage of Mist Energy, your armour can now also store up excess Heat. Once enough Heat has been stored within the suit, you are granted the option to change your base colour to any from the spectrum! This change will use up the stored heat, which reverts to zero and restarts the accumulation.
The heat needed would have to be from a few full Clockwork runs to stop arbitrary changes, and would only store Heat when you have no level-able items equipped.
Just a new twist, what d'you guys think?
{Edited out some abysmal spelling, sorry about that!}
Another example of good-in-theory, bad-in-practice. It would be very interesting to customize the armour itself to fit your personal likings, just like you could when creating your knight, but storing up heat for a colour change is going to take ages. It would make use of leftover heat, but you would also need to carry around fully levelled equips as well, meaning you cannot store heat and level something up at the same time. In that sense, players who are still trying to level up their equipment will never be able to make use of this function because they always have items to level up, and when they're complete they won't buzz off to get a colour-change, they'll go upgrade it to the next tier.
I'd like customization to be available to everyone, not a choice few who've obtained the set of their dreams.
That is a valid point. Gorramit, thought I was on to something there.
Perhaps instead:
An item which would take it's equal share of the heat,
Available from a Stranger in town.
Doing it that way wouldn't detract too much from your Heat [at most half of it, down to one-seventh - and you could just un-equip it if you wanted to instead focus on leveling up your gear] That way everyone could utilise it, and change it every-so-often.
Even though the "customize armor by extra heat" idea wasn't "good", I still want to see a option to change my knight's personal color. Anything is fine, I just want to be blue now lol
we should make an online petition for color change :P
I would sign it twice
Yes! A way to change your personal colour would be awesome.
+1 #15
but the first time free it good too , the second 50ce ...
+(900)1
And I can definitely get behind Talbain's and cheeserito's suggestions. Make the cost progress geometrically to deter those who may be very fickle, but simply having the option available to players sounds nice.
I hope they would update this feature asap. Becasue i hate my color. In addition, they didt even remind us from the start that everything you equip will be under the same armor color ;(
With the Guild Hall being so empty and useless, I know many ppl have requested either vendors or the AH to be implemented there. Why not put a "barbershop" to change the colors of our characters. I am growing bored of my color and as for a fee, yes I do agree a fee, but not outrageous. I am leaning towards the idea that ShadoxLunik has as in the first color change a simple amout then continue to rise as you change the color frequently. Its almost as when you die and need to revive. A color change is indeed needed and an excellent idea. I hope to see this implemented sooner then later.
I am getting bored of my colour....
I wish i could change anytime now.
pls gm pls make personal colour change happen!
Want a slot for color / gradient / texture / effect modules.
*Necroposts*
I also ask for a way to change your character's color. Green clashes against almost every armor set I'm interested in, and I've put too much work into mine to just go and make another one. :(
Good Morning I'm Sungear !!!
I need for this update, because when I created my character, I chose the Red... After some weeks I say: " Hey, Too much Red people !!! xD"
After that I hope for this service come... I hope it's to ready =D
It'd be simply awesome if you could buy something for like.. 500- 1000CE that changed your personal color and/or name. I so approve of this suggestion; I already hate my lime green.
