For me, I'd say the most annoying thing is when people are too lazy to grab minerals simply because there aren't any big ones to grab. To me, that's like saying "no thank you, I don't want any free money."
What irritates you in groups?
generally, anything that slows me down
but people going all the way to the elevator in arenas just to cut torches for 2 freaking coins really gets to me.
I do that. When you have to pay 10 energy to do a level, you want to get as much money/materials/items as you possibly can. That's how I look at it.
Really, nothing bothers me about groups since I'm so used to travelling with them... But if I have to say something, it's probably when someone is a self-destructive idiot and doesn't shield through brambles or wait for spikes to be lowered.
People who spend time cutting down every single [frakking] block/torch and say "It's for the free CR!". Word of advice, getting to Basil faster and reselling popular recipes will get you a better profit for your time than trimming bushes or whacking rocks
I'd rather just run FSC for my profit. At least that way I don't have to make a huge investment to come out ahead.
BEsides, you spend 10 energy per floor, so getting as much as you can out of that floor (crowns and minerals) IS important.
-The friend that "invites" you to his party only because he's dead on an arena.
-Those that quits on an arena, leaving a big chunk of crystal in front of me, trapping me.
-The one that lies to me saying he's got no energy(wich is easy to tell by looking at the icon next to his name)
-People that save their pills for nothing and end up dead.
-Team mates wasting vials and throwing them at a wall to grab said pills.
people who spam levi charges without paying attention to where the creature is going to land... i don't like getting a lumbar to the face.
when people leave mid arena so that they're crystal is just sitting around blocking the path i use to kite.
people who excessively energy res. this shouldn't annoy me but when 3 people are alive you shouldn't be energy ressing... seeing someone spend 300+ energy on one res just feels wrong.
people who beg for energy.
people who block my visibility with the pulsar or fire it irresponsibly (there is no need to shoot a group of monsters into my immediate kiting path).
people who kick me at the gate because i will be going up (i sorta like keeping all that heat i got from ressing you).
certain flashy bombs start to give me a headache after seeing the animation too many times. i can deal with this in combat but for the love of god why must you use it every 10 seconds when we're waiting for a gate to change.
and people who use affect and effect incorrectly... somehow this happens in this game a lot more than it should. other grammar/spelling errors don't annoy me but this one does.
Friend invited me to party earlier, was fiends if I can recall right. I don't have my shadow equips, I know I'll die a bit. So, I die once, and what happens? IMMEDEATLY the kid revives me. I just stare there blankly. After a while, ends up I'm the only one left, fond out there's a hidden fiend, and die. Well, I thought I was the only one. Some guy didn't want to revive... So again, the kid thought everyone was dead when two people were alive (Including myself), and what does he do? He revives them.
So, here I am at Basil, gonna run FSC but decide not to because that kid kept reviving me. On a boss fight? Sure. Any other level? Get out.
So...
•Auto Revivers aka CE wasters
•No Revivers (Sit there doing nothing while we try to revive)
•People who don't grab minerals (I should just tell them to give me 4 CR per size if they don't pick one up.)
•People who leave pills, needed vials, remedies etc. on the elevator without warning.
-The one saying he's got no energy (which is easy to tell by looking at the icon)
It isn't necessarily a lie.
Some people don't want to use CE to run the clockworks.
It still shows yellow if they have no mist but have CE to continue.
people who beg for energy
1. Buying 100 CE for 2000 cr... please?
2. Buying Green Shard 30cr, Bushy Tails 50cr
3. Buying Tabards 0.5k CE, Cheapaus 1k CE - I'd name a few people, but it'd just be (redacted).
Agreed. Also, if the cost is 20, they may only have 10.
Funny, even with the CE I have, I don't pay for anyones revives except my own. Reason being is that most groups I get really suck. I don't mean that to be insulting, but every time I offer advice I get told "stfu noob." So I stopped caring.
Things that annoy me... Hm...
The always hated energy-resurrector. People that spend massive amounts of energy on revival on regular levels, just because they can't wait for a team-mate to revive them. Even more so when they have been down for a while, you run up to them to revive them, and they end up reviving themselves with energy just a split second before you click them. Also dislike people who revive you instead of themselves, and those who use revive all just tick me right off. I do not like having others raise my revival cost for me, thank you very much.
People who boast about themselves. I went on a Firestorm Citadel run quite recently, and I will admit to being overly cautious despite not actually having to. While I am all open to trying out your way of doing things, tell me in a nice and polite manner, don't go off throwing insults and boasting about your own skill. If you really are that skillful I'm just going to kick you out if I'm the party leader, 'cause I'm not going to deal with it.
People who waste time. I know that those bushes can give you money, but for the love of all that is good and holy, if everyone is standing on the party button, please take a hint - nobody cares for it. Besides, I'm fairly sure you'll find time to cut them while we fight... I'll join in if I'm the only one sitting on the button, but if you as the only individual run out of your way to cut them, it's just going to be annoying.
People who leave useful items behind when leaving through the lift. Please, if you have items on you, drop them - and include that vitapod. Nothing is more annoying than seeing that vitapod and those capsules being left behind because some dude was too lazy to drop them off, much less inform you that they were departing.
People who rush. If you have an appointment to make in real-life or something, don't sit down and play the hour before you have to make a run for it. I'm not interesting in having this one guy hightail for the party-button/lift, spawning all the monsters but not bothering to kill them. Luckily, these individuals don't come in big numbers, but unless there is an update coming up I'm not going to ditch my loot because you're a little bit impatient.
Graveyard; Where Players Fear to Fight
I can understand if you find graveyards somewhat intimidating, seeing as they aren't common levels and you don't get to practice on them whenever you want, but please, do not hightail for the lift and leave everyone else behind. Nobody likes a coward, and while this is the same thing as the point above, I'm making an exception because there are people who rush through them to save their own hide... I still grudge that one guy who spawned every single zombie on the level and left us to fight for ourselves. (Which unfortunately ended up getting us all killed, and we all lost our heat except that one guy.)
People who "CBA" to pick up minerals because they aren't big enough. Should I start taxing you?
People who skip Danger Rooms, not because they're unconfident, but because they don't want to spend the three energy to open the darn gate. Sometimes I would appreciate not being the only one to spend energy on them.
People who disrupt Vortex bombs. Seriously, if someone has a Vortex, don't knock all of the flippin' mobs away from it with your Nitronome.
People who can not follow a strategy when given to them. Especially annoying in the Royal Jelly Palace, where I like to set enemies up with my Vortex to murder them in two seconds, but someone spawns them before I get the chance to charge up and we spend two minutes killing them instead.
That one guy who cares not for his own life and runs headfirst into retrode beams and/or other hazards...
I think that sums up most of it...
Btw, some of you might have played with me; I am Tammytryhard.
I found another thing I dislike. People who retort with 4channery.
lol umad?
bleh. Serious? It's like "git 'er done" for nerds.
Things that annoy me in groups:
1) People who keep dying. This does not mean the person who dies maybe once per level or a couple times in a danger room. I'm talking about the person who dies like 5 times per level, and that's after gulping all the health capsules that have dropped on the run. You should never health rez these people (unless everyone is dying that often, but that's another case.)
2) People who are impatient for a health rez. I will health rez you If you are carrying your weight, but if you are going to die quickly or if I am busy then you need to wait a while. Saying "rez pls" and "help!" distracts me and does not change the current situation. Bonus points if I have half a bar of health left and someone is saying "rez me please I have no energy." (Yes, this actually happened. I was a fool to slow down and respond. It got me killed.)
3) Afkers. I have zero tolerance for those that afk without a reason. If you afk without a reason while in my party then expect to get kicked.
4) Trolling. I also have zero tolerance for trolls. Before I used to try to countertroll, but now I kick trolls as soon as I detect them.
Also, I use energy to revive occasionally. I don't do it because I'm impatient. Instead, I energy rez after I have failed so badly that I don't want you to waste half your health on such a pathetic display of epic failure on my part. Oh, and I energy rez on bosses and team wipes, but that's another matter.
@ Foxhound: Who do you party with? and were you actualy worst than them? Some people don't like to be told what to do and the only people who for sure won't make a response like that are people who you actualy know and play with often. I just try to avoid conversations with people i don't know.
1. Don't rez yourself with energy
2. Can you please stop using that gun/sword/bomb? (vs. Oilers / Quicksilvers)
I don't bother the "early heart box openers" or the "gardeners" or the "mineral discarders" anymore, it's not worth it.
I do the Castlevania thing between arenas, unless my health is low, since I don't think I can really make the loot collecting any faster when 3 others are wailing on the boxes and minerals. I hit bushes when there are no monsters, too, unless I am behind the group. I am also likely to leave minerals on the first arena since I am sure I will get big chunks after the second. I have not yet been in a party that wants to leave after the first fight, but if it ever comes up a few crowns for the minerals will be far from the first thing on my mind.
As for the things people do that bug me, energy reviving other players is the first to come to mind. Also, people who say "Lrn2play noob!" but don't offer any advice more helpful than that get on my nerves. I also don't like it when I revive some one, only to see the recipient get up right under some monsters or some such instead of waiting a few seconds until it's safe. Health is a precious resource! Staying uncomfortably close to team mates and blowing up rockets with a shield AFTER I have explained that we should not do that is also annoying. Gah, this topic is not good for me.
1. Guns on Wolvers & Devilites. DON'T DO THAT WE CAN'T CHASE THEM WITH OUR SWORDS. (Alternatively, a couple of bombers can own the den with no health loss./ You're just fooling around.)
2. People with Leviathans shoving Lumbers and Mecha Knigts mid-attack on my face. I stopped using my Nitronome when I'm in a group for this reason alone.
3. Energy-revivers. I don't care if you spend ****loads of energy, it's yours anyway. But don't waste that heat, the other people may need it.
4. Mainly, people dropping off capsules and vitapods in the elevator.
there were a pair of jerks who yelled at me for using my shield during a really tense moment in an arena (running around when you can cover yourself isn't exactly a natural reaction to lots of [farging] bullets flying around and running just rams you into them some more).
they also invoked Semitic stereotypes and accused me of hoarding pills while we were all dead... I dropped the one pill I had (which I couldn't use due to a mix of lag, inability to look at my 1 key and the numerous hazards at the same time) and told him to "crawl on his broken legs and take it, you stupid [national socialist]" and left.
Yeah, please don't try to tick me off when I'm already having a bad day in the game.
I have no idea how I forgot this initially, but Zanoni brought it up; AFKers.
If you start AFKing, without telling us why, don't expect me, or the rest of the team, to be considerate. If you absolutely have to go AFK for something, tell us why before dashing off, and I'll let you stay until you're back or get auto-booted. I don't have much tolerance for AFKers who don't leave a reason for doing so, but if you give us a reason I'll be patient.
DCers are fine, 'cause that's something that happens at random and is beyond their power to prevent. Could be a powercut, client-crash, etc. I usually wait for DCers at the elevator until they've reconnected or get booted by the server, mostly out of sympathy as I am one of those who tend to disconnect every now and then (because my computer is utter crap), but also because I want to give them a chance to come back and resume - it's not their fault. Therefore, I ignore team-mates' requests for booting them, although some of them are just so persistent that they end up getting booted instead...
Anyone playing a solo game in a team, basically. If you're knocking things into people or shooting blocks as people run past them, I don't want you in my team.
Friends who boot me to haven as soon as I join D: if you don't want me there, lock the party and if I am there, give me the option to go solo.
People who get pissy if I ask for a lift to 23 on the firestorm gate. It's not costing you anything and you haven't invited me so you obviously aren't interested in having me in your team. I'll give anyone a leg up, don't be a dick about doing the same.
I don't mean to derail the conversation, however:
> they also invoked Semitic stereotypes and accused me of hoarding pills while we were all dead...
Yuck. I'm sorry you experienced that while playing Spiral Knights. If it happens to you again (I hope it doesn't, but this IS the internet), please report it in-game so that the GMs can take action. We want SK to be a welcoming place for everybody.
"3. Energy-revivers. I don't care if you spend ****loads of energy, it's yours anyway. But don't waste that heat, the other people may need it."
Except they don't lose the heat when they revive themselves with energy as proved by Volebamus somewhere on the forums.
Pulsar users. Specifically the ones that just spam it at everything. Which is almost all of them.
Shidara, I'm the one who ran that FSC run with you recently, TammyTryhard. And I won't be running it with you again.
Hey Tammytryhard, add me. ign Tengu.
Shidara said:

I've never had the opportunity to use Revive All before, but I personally had no idea that reviving others like this would bump up their own cost. Also, that makes no sense to me.
One thing: Calibur users. I will kick anyone using Calibur charge on things that get knocked around by it while other party members are around.
I solo many dungeons with my Calibur. Although I try to plan whenever using any knock type attack. Separating mobs, smashing blast cubes into its allies etc...
One of the things I hate the most is when thay don't even listen to you like when you found a huge crystal and you say,"Come here." and they just walk off and five minutes later they say I found the gate "Which you had already opened."
I'll just sum it up:
"Please, leave 1 robot alive."
30 seconds later, the robot is dead.
I can't stress enough how incredibly important wave control is for me. Especially in last arena rounds. And jelly palace. CAN'T YOU SEE MY GRAVITON? I'D LIKE TO USE THAT. JESUS.
People that energy res, mineral discarders and reckless idiots annoy me less.
And yes, I do break every bush and shrub and those who don't annoy me. I play only when I got time. If you hurry somewhere, play when you're back or don't play at all. I will not rush too just because your posterior itches.
I haven't played in a random team since I got out of tier 1 though for these things.
When randoms don't die or rez each other and leave no heat for me.
Why would I be going anywhere with randoms if not for free heat (unless it's FSC and I see that random guys I got partied with aren't terribad)?
I have to admit I'm a little confused by people who get mad about people not picking up minerals, and also get mad at people who break (almost) every bush/lamp. At *most*, you will get 30cr out of a mineral, usually more like 4-6cr, and you have to hit each mineral 3 times to break it and you usually break every mineral on the level. Bushes, on the other hand, can sometimes drop 50cr large gold coins, and much more often, 5-10cr coins and there are a lot of bushes. You can often break several bushes with one shot/swing, and a well placed DBB bomb can break half a dozen bushes and seriously hurt 3 wolvers all in one shot. It takes less than 1/4th the time for everyone in the party to break bushes that are near to them after the fight and can be done at the same time as picking up material drops. As for arenas when I'm in a party, I always immediately go break the two lamps by the elevators. By the time i'm done and over to the left side, people are usually still breaking crystals. In short, I've gotten a few more crowns for everyone at a cost of *ZERO* extra time. And people get mad at this?
If you come into my party, don't expect me to hurry, just because you want to skip breaking the bushes. If I come into your party and you clearly want to hurry, expect me to go solo. Most of the time, I solo though, so it rarely matters.
Annoyed by people who don't know the difference between your and you're.
Oh, are we talking about groups in the arcade?
Then it would be leaving your pills, pods and vials on the elevator instead of dropping them for your team. To those people I give a big Patrick Stewart Captain Picard ASCII facepalm.
@dementedduck if someone boot you from party, you'll go solo automatically. I never saw someone going back to haven after get kicked.
I reeeeally hate people who post on forums about stuff they hate.
hmm....................things i hate in groups eh?
1. when people drop stuff on the elevator instead of leaving it for us. i have saw people who have quit my party on jk and leave behind 3 curse vials 3 fire vials and 3 poison vials plus 3 health pills.
2. when people spam rez on runs. so i want to run fsc and win right? everyone does. but people rez over and over and even if there are a few people up this guy rezzes and rezzes. and so eventually at vanaduke our rez costs are all 300 or more and the guy says you all owe me big time. i told him that he didnt have to use it and im not paying him back. than he got mad so i left XD
3. on lockdown where you're on brb for like 30 seconds to eat a slice of bacon or take out the trash or something and then you lose and then everyone says that really blew thanks (enter afk 30 seconds knight's name here) (yes this has actually happened to me before because i had to something important for like 30 sec. and we were winning than and at the end we lost and the "commander" said that to me)
4. when you get to the floor before the boss level of the tier/stratum and everyone leaves on the elevator without notice and you've just wasted 10 me/ce going down.
5. (i will continue this its just no ideas as of now >_<)
First and foremost, if you don't want to wait while people chop bushes, CHOP THE F'N BUSHES! I don't NEED the crowns but I want them cause they're there. Also they drop hearts too. I don't know how many times I've walked up to an angry group waiting at the button but I got full life and they have 1 or 3 pips. If you hadn't rushed off and skipped ALL the bushes you could be sitting pretty like me.
That being said:
1. Pulsar users! Once in a blue moon I meet one person who knows how to use it. The rest of you don't
2. People who don't follow any strategy. Especially in arenas on the final room everyone needs to run the same direction otherwise splitting the agro gets everyone cornered and killed. Yet no matter what every time there is 1 or 2 people running the opposite direction as the group. I've gotten to the point now that whenever I see it I just wait for everyone to die and then finish the arena for them.
3. People who keep trying to run to the backside of a trojan when they have the agro. Idiot just stand there we'll kill it! Also when I have the agro of 2 trojans and everyone runs away to deal with the puppys or some other non-threatening enemy. Meanwhile I'm sitting there forever with 2 pissed off trojans trying to kill me.
4. People who don't cut the bushes!
5. I'm with everyone on saying those who don't drop their gear before leaving. I hate seeing 3 pills and the highest vitapod pop out as we progress on.
6. People who revive me with CE. For awhile there I had to start every party by saying "Please don't revive me with ce." I got plenty of ce if I want to revive I'll spend it. Don't drive the cost of my revive up. Honestly there should only be one time anyone should ce revive when EVERYONE is dead on a boss. Any time prior to that is a waste. Also 1 at a time, all rez is a huge waste (except on JK cause rezing 1 at a time is a waste since by the time you revive the party you're either dead or the king is healed).
7. Greedy bastards! I hate people who run off ahead just to grab all the boxes and gear before anyone else
8. Opening heart boxes when everyone has full life. Really? We all have full life which won't always be the case but you still open all of them now so the hearts can disappear before we actually do need them. Way to go genius
9. People who break the crystal blocks or bricks or any sort of obstacle in party button battle areas. Especially against devils. You just removed the only advantage we had. Now we got no cover and devils can throw things clear across the area with nothing in the way. People always tell me "its in the way", or "more battle room." Thats just stupid. I don't need wide open space to fight in fact the tighter the better. Plus its gonna get destroyed in the course of battle anyways, leave them for then don't make things harder for us, especially bombers. They could charge a second bomb with obstacles a lot more safely then with no obstacles.
To sum all these complaints up, you're not the only person in the party. Consider the other 3 people and their survival and tactics as well as your own.
I largely agree with what's been posted but a few struck me as odd;
I don't leave minerals by negligent laziness or contempt for small sizes, but I get minerals to effect gate construction so purple and blue I will never touch and since everyone gets everyone's minerals I'd appreciate it if you didn't either. I'll take no part in helping make a shock or fiend stratum. Id rather a small yellow or green crystal to a massive blue or purple. Red is borderline but acceptable if there's no green or yellow.
I'd say a 3 minute window for afks. Disconnects don't always appear as disconnected for awhile and there should be some wiggle room for emergencies, important phone calls, pets needing to be let out of the house to crap, pizza guy arriving, that sort of thing.
Sometimes I run ahead and spawn things. Graveyards and both the opening areas of jelly palace off the top of my head. Not because I'm in a rush or I'm a jerk, but because things are actually more dangerous if you do it slowly. In a graveyard time is phantom spawns and inching around waiting for every skeleton to raise up, invincible until it's out of the raising animation, is more dangerous than running through then turning around and laying ruin to the room with a da or polaris or ash of agni or whatever zombie murdering device you prefer. It's a bit more borderline in jelly palace, but if I know i have a graviton or an acheron that can get the job done fast and safe and the rest of my crew is a motley mix of normal and/or elemental weapons I will absolutely let them deal with the first few jelly spawns that I would probably miss if I tried to compete to kill anyway and just go hit the first switches or breakable walls and then quickly be able to kill that whole spawn as the rest of the team catches up. No one knocks anything into each other, I didn't miss any attacks because things weren't aggrod to me so i couldn't kite them, it's faster, i don't see the downside. I'm not running into side rooms and getting myself or anyone else hurt, I'm just being efficient.
If more than 1 person doesn't slow down and stare at the danger room door, maybe don't run up and pay for it without saying anything. I'm appreciative of your generosity but especially at deeper depths I'm just not confident in most groups not getting me killed and then themselves killed and then suddenly their magnanimous 3 energy charity donation means I'm supposed to foot the 10+ revive costs and I ain't cool with that. Don't make me look like the bad guy for going solo rather than jumping onto that party button with you, ask first.
As a strict f2p player, anyone accusing me of "oweing" THEM anything because of THEIR voulintary actions.
Religous brushwhackers, time is money friend! there is no NO NO way you are profiting by whacking all the little hastas then getting to lower stratums/Basil quicker. If you are low on life and fishing for hearts though I can realize this and go with it.
The one guy that always runs the opposite way in 3/3 arena lastwave. I wont rez anyone who hasent shown me teamwork in 3/3 last wave cause 3/4 of the time they WILL get me killed, where 90% of the time I can kite solo it.
The guy that leaves and drops his minerals in arena, especially down under the gate where it cannot clearly be seen. I realize most prolly dont do this on purpose and it might be suggested in bug fix section now that I think of it.
People who have made it to T3 w/o realizing damage types and how they work.
Ham fisted sword heros that are anti-pulsar, you have NO right! In fact the whole guns Vs Swds mindset is quite redundant. Two different styles of play, no more no less. Do whatcha' want and allow others to as well.
Cookie cutter gear elitists and conformists. Go sub to WOW and roll a warrior or DK and chase that season 683.3 tier gear please ;)
IGN Lukehandkooler, guild: Dances With Wolver (recruiting bomber and slinger enthusiasts of all skill/gear levels)
I do have a right when the knockback and particle effects of a Pulsar keep me from being able to fight properly.
@ Fox
Are you a ham fisted sword hero? I never called you one.
No, but I am a sword user (even though it's only Leviathan). My equipment is all designed for swordfighting. I have CTR Ultra and Sword Damage Increase Maximum.
Awesome!
I got really lucky and procced asi med on my first 3 star piece, Kilowatt pulsar and was able to get asi-maximum! in mostly 2* stuff with the Kilo and swiftstrike+ GS hat. I would really love to have a cryo-firo mkII to use in group play for ele damage, but being a f2p guy I cba to invest in altrinate elemental damage untill I have developed a good source of all three pure damage types.
Besides what's already been said, I really don't like noobs who refuse to learn. The ones that if I see running with the key towards the treasure gate in deconstuction zone that I manage to catch early with "there are more gates to open first!", they reply "So? there's monsters in them!" or "I don't care!" Even worse is bosses. I ask "has everyone fought this boss before?", and usually someone replies with a no or yes. I hate when a noob gets on the party button and yells to get on instead. When the fight starts they mess up from the start, like hitting the bell on Snarbolax right away, running in circles on JK, and hitting switches when I tell them not to on the twins. Then they die in about a minute and then blame the game (or even worse, another player) for thier mistake.
1. Instant energy revivier.
2. Wasting vials... including not breaking grass/torch to find hearts, not dragging pills, using curse vials before JK.
3. Selfish about pills. The only knight running around the arena is low on health and they still won't share their pills. (you find out when the last knight is down and they leave the game)
4. No communication even when needed. Like when people ask what you are doing when everyone else are at elevator, or in last point when you ask if they have a pill to drag onto floor.
5. Childish behavior. For example, a PUG in a JK run. On the level with the four keys, the leader said, "All 4". What? Keeping all 4 keys for a screenshot or something? Okay, I thought. After all 4 fights I used one of the keys, and he said:
:<
I mad
I kick you now
6. Running off in different directions. It's okay to split up to get treasure boxes/coins/minerals, but it's not okay to split up and fight. Especially when you end up dying and need people to rescue you among the horde of enemies (including turrets all around) you've stirred up.
7. Spawn more enemies than necessary, especially in arena 3rd round and Jelly Palace.
8. Dropping capsules and vials inside elevator.
I have a lot of irritations...
too lazy to cut the grass. Too lazy to pick up minerals.
Too impatient to wait for the bomber to charge his bomb. Too inept to stay out the bomber's kiting path.
People who leave a full rack pickups in the elevator. oooooooooooooooh
