question about my calibur

looking to temper my calibur this weekend. i noticed it has two special attributes:

- damage bonus vs slime: med (yellow)
- reduced charge time: med (blue)

I am guessing the yellow one is the variant, and the blue is standard (but comes after level 1, maybe when completed)? the wiki doesnt mention this attribute, so I wanted to know when the non-variant attribute unlocks, or whether I actually had two variant attributes.

follow up question: whatever the case is with the variants, would you keep it when upgrading? or hope for something better. im not sure how significant the bonus is..

Depends on how useful you think the variant will be

The unique variant only appears when you craft it. The blue variant you see will always appear when your weapon or equipment reaches a certain level (usually level 5, when they gain an ability of some sort). Most weapons get a charge time reduction when they reach level 5.

Personally, I keep all my variants, especially for shields or armor that offset the negative resistances. You have something like 11% chance of getting a unique variant, so depending on your variant, I would keep it.

Of course, if you get an "increased attack damage: high" on your Troika, I would scrap the variant and hope for a better one when you upgrade it, because the Khorovod's power is already at maximum (or so my friend said).

tl;dr Depends on how useful you think the variant will be.

Yellow on is variant, blue is

Yellow on is variant, blue is what the sword already gets. When you craft gear(armor helm sword ect.) you have a chance of getting a unique variant(yellow attribute). When you upgrade your sword to the next version, it will keep the unique variant. That slime damage can be useful when fighting the Royal jelly boss.

im not very good at gambling

im not very good at gambling decisions. :)

since there are 3 more levels to promote this sword to, i have (roughly) 30% chance of getting a different variant.. but it could be a worse one I suppose. bonus against slimes doesnt sound terrible, but I think that I will be crafting a different sword at some point for Jelly King encounters (which I would keep it on in that line, obv!)..

to throw away or not to throw away, that is the question..

If you're planning to upgrade

If you're planning to upgrade your Calibur to a Cold Iron Vanquisher, you do additional damage against undead as well as slime, so that could be useful. I say keep it :)
