We had stable CE prices for like two weeks and now they're out of control again! Thanks OOO for ruining the CE market with another power surge! How can we F2Pers profitably play this game when CE costs so much?! Your greed is short sighted and will ruin this game!! Also, the stock market tanked today too!!!1

Good thing I converted my crowns to CE yesterday.
I'm just leaving enough (40k) in case there's a recipe I need from Basil.
Anyway: SIGH. All our humanitarian work in the CE market, undone in a single weekend. :D

I play for free, and have nothing to complain about
I've spent money on this game in the past, but right now I'm playing for free. I play multiple hours per day, and am stockpiling CE and crowns, all for free. I can't imagine what I could complain about. Three Rings, thank you for making a great game, and for letting me play it quite a bit for free. You owe me nothing, and you've given me so much.

Then chat with friends in a happy manner
Buy 100CE with earned CR
Play Lockdown a bit
Do a quick arena if I see a guildie there
Log off with 0 mist and 100Ce in profit everyday
Homework
Bed and Sleepy-time
NEXT DAY
Check some stuff on SK (auctions etc)
Go to school
Come back home
Repeat SK schedule above
Logoff with ANOTHER 100CE and 0 mist with a few spare CR (~500-1500 on a good day)
Homework
Bed and forums if I want via my 3DS
NEXT DAY
Its a Weekend no school!
Now i have 30-50 mist in the morning and at least 500CE from the school days
Can basically end the weekend with 0 mist and ~230-300CE
Now its Monday!
Repeat School day schedule above.

Even when I grind after school I can usually only fit in a full T2 JK run and 2 FSC floors with a bit of LD
Yes that depletes my mist fully and i run a bit on CE but look how I get CE vs CR
Even if prices reach 7k+ Ill still be able to afford 100CE per 1 1/2 days
again...????

Not the best but pretty decent for a grinder on weekends.

There is a fundamental flaw in this game! The CE market just does not work. It is constantly rising and will blow up beyond what is sustainable for F2Pers. Three Rings only cares about the bottom line but are too short sighted to realize their greed will ruin this game.

In all honesty i do enjoy the changing ce market it makes the game more unpredictable. Yes its a pain but if ce prices were a constant then it would make reaching 5 stared gear less of an achievement. Thats my two cents and i'm a free to play player if that matters =/

There is a fundamental flaw in this game! The CE market just does not work. It is constantly rising and will blow up beyond what is sustainable for F2Pers.
Well, except that the CE exchange rate *has not* kept going up. Periodically, it drops, sometimes significantly. The causes of these drops and the size of the drops changes from time to time, but it has been quite a while since the cr<->CE exchange rate has broken 7k.
OOO keeps trying to do things that help, sometimes they succeed, sometimes they don't. For example, Rose regalia has dropped the exchange rate significantly both times that OOO has released it, but the bomber masks didn't. The AH release dropped it some since people started to trade stuff in cr instead of CE, but crafting changes in that release eventually started to push the exchange rate up. Punch was much more popular than Vice, so that released pushed the exchange rate down a lot. The PvP releases don't seem to have made a huge impact, nor have the birdsong/power surge weekends.
There still needs to be more crown sinks and there has yet to be a real material sink added since the public release. OOO has a lot left to do, but the system does work.

Gasp! How dare OOO care more about paying players than non-paying ones! Putting non-payers ahead of payers is just good business sense and human nature. Oh... wait.
All trolling aside, lots of players are playing for free, and doing well at it. If the CE market is killing you, it's not OOO's fault, it's your own. Prices would have to break 8k for me to not earn enough CR on my ME to buy 100 CE. Incidentally, this marks the infinitieth topic on the energy market.

A very small minority keeps saying that CE prizes are fine. The truth is, this game has just a fraction of the playerbase it used to have, and numbers keep going down consistently. We used to be in the top 10 Steam games.

CE isn't the only thing that could cause that. I don't have the steam data on hand, but I would intuitively argue that that was a period shortly after the steam release (before people got tired of SK) but long enough after for it to gain some momentum. The truth is, this game just doesn't have that much depth. Like YPP, the main game gets old. At least YPP had parlor games to keep you going. I'd job just enough to sustain my drinking habit. Maybe LD will help. We will need more options, though.
In reality, I find the argument that CE is a barrier to entry to be weak at best. T1 players should be running on mist and buying 2* gear from the AH (which is fairly independent of CE prices due to crafting alts). T2 players (and T3 players who are really just T2 players who think they can hang in T3 but really can't) are the ones who suffer from CE prices. I would argue that bind on equip gear is a much larger barrier to entry. No binding means cheaper gear AND the ability to experiment with different set ups much more easily (which is highly underrated). Sure, CE matters, but not THAT much.
