...Yeah. I asked myself this when I was a newer player, and I thought "well duh! clearly Divine Mantle is the best!", but now I am not so sure.
I think that the Divine Mantle is the best for tier 3, but I don't know about the other two... Chaos Cloak is pretty good, and how come I never see
anyone wear Grey Feather Mantle or hood?

By the way, I am creating this thread for my purpose, but if anyone wants to take over to take the whole thing to the next level, then feel free.

I'm cooking up a grey feather

I'm cooking up a grey feather set. Shock and fire resist with elemental/normal protection? Hells yeah. Nice multi-tasker for Vanaduke and Roarmulus.

I can make up for the lack of weapon buffs later with some trinkets if I really feel the need.

The Chaos set is a newb trap. You can get much better damage buffs with other armor sets and trinkets without having to take on all the status weaknesses. The Mad Bomber set is really the only "insane" set that makes any sense.

Some people like a Divine Veil/Skolver Coat combo for a jack-of-all-trades 5* set, but it really is master of none.

I have been thinking about

I have been thinking about crafting up a DM or DV for T3 PvP as part of a generally protective set and to me it looks like the most appealing branch of this line. Though I typically am more in favor of armor that offers an offensive buff.

The Chaos Clock could be good for somebody that is a very split in the weapons that they use without heavily favoring any one type of weapon. I don't think its going to be a favorite because people tend to have a primary weapon type & look for the more powerful buffs for that type. If people want Normal/Elemental armor they will be more likely to go for Vog Normal/Elemental/Fire/Sword ASI, Nameless Normal/Elemental/Gun ASI, or VDemo Normal/Elemental/Fire/Bomb CTR (or Mad Bomber if they are crazy good, or just crazy).

I don't really see any advantage to ever get the Grey Feather mantle though. For the same reasons listed above, plus no buff at all. Not to mention that stun weakness.

*edit* No offense Nkitty, just don't see the appeal of Grey Feather. What weapon loadout do you favor?

The Chaos set is now only a shadow of the greatness it once was (med dmg/charge?). Now it's merely a costume piece. A fancy one at that!

@bluescreen I mostly run

@bluescreen I mostly run swords. The trouble I have with the divine set is that it doesn't have any normal protection, only elemental/shadow split, so if you get, for example, a retrode swipe to the face you're sucking it all up with your HP instead of your armor. Vog would be an option, but I want something with shock resist as well, and don't much care for the somewhat overdone "flaming furry" look.

Plus if I get the damage bufs with trinkets instead of on the armor, I can carry them over to my piercing (will be a Deadly Virulisk) and shadow (will be Seraphic) sets.

Okay, I decided to go with a Grey Feather Cloak. Thanks, and I think I will continue this thread to just see what stuff cooks up.

I'm also having a bit of

I'm also having a bit of trouble deciding over a Divine Veil or Grey Feather Cowl. I mainly want the Divine Veil for its curse and shadow resist since I usually use a Faust and at the moment have a Miracle Hood and Ash Tail Coat. Yet the normal defense makes the Grey Feather Cowl just as attractive. Also, which one would be better in FSC?

Like Traumata mentioned,

Like Traumata mentioned, Chaos is somewhat of a joke now. It used to be so awesome that everyone wore it, then it was nerfed and everyone abandoned it with good reason.

Just to add to the discussion, months ago Diggidy posted on the topic regarding why Grey Feather is better than Divine, in terms of FSC. I found his comments to be insightful:

I tried doing a mixed set of Divine Veil with Grey Feather Mantle, and found it lackluster:

(Spoiler alert - when wielding two-swing swords, I decided pure Vog was better. And now I've added in an ASI trinket to reach Max.)

My interest in the Divine set

My interest in the Divine set is to combine say the Divine Veil with a Skolver coat so that I am covering Normal/Piercing/Elemental/Shadow and Freezing/Shock/Curse. I figure this will result in a master of non, but at least you would not be naked to any damage types and you would have some protection from the worst status effects.

Maybe its a bit generic because everybody is doing it, but I am working on a Vog set, because I am concentrating on gearing up for FSC. I'm not that worried about shock for Iron Claw because I have ran it without shock so far. As far as tier 2 goes I have just been tuning my shield to fit the stratum (Dark Thorn Shield, Wise Owlite, Sinister Skelly) without worrying too much about optimal armor. When we get a new T3 boss I will make getting non-fire armor a higher priority. My basic armor plan at the moment is to eventually craft 3 sets: Vog, Skolver, and Dread Skelly to cover Elemental/Norm+Fire, Piercing/Norm+Freeze, and Shadow/Norm+Poison/Freeze. I might one of these days switch out the Skelly with something that has an Undead damage buff like a Deadshot or Valkyrie (even though it is chick armor).

If you don't want to look like everybody else in a Vog, just use a costume slot to look like your alternate armor, then you can run around looking like Godzilla all the time.

@Culture
Those are good points in those links. Kinda makes a case for a Volcanic Plate set, but I don't think it would be worth it to overcome the ASI nerf (maybe if you rolled ASI VH & used 2 Elite trinkets, that is a lot to invest just to hit ASI VH though)

The stun weakness really

The stun weakness really makes itself felt in FSC whenever you get bopped by trojans/vana himself (speaking from the miracle set). Generally speaking if you've been hit and stunned it means your shield is down as well and waddling away at that speed without a shield will kill you. It simply will. The small amount of normal damage mitigated (status resist is much more useful than defense by T3) simply isn't worth it.

It's been a long time since

It's been a long time since I've eaten even a single trojan hit, is it really that big of a problem in FSC? I didn't even remember that their hit did stun. Honestly I've been shocked by trojans far more often than stunned.
