Idea is that we would gather only Dark Matters (purple ones) for a week, then everyone would put ONLY Dark Matters to the brand new gate, in my experience there drops more Grim Sparks from undead stratums and a ot of people needs Grims, and there is also Kats who can drop Philoso & Owlite feathers, and little chance to find 'Mewkat' http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Kat which may drop 'Magikat Hat'! http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Magikat_Hat
So please join me :)
Everyone, get Dark Matters!
its just dam annoying that there is only beast and jelly stratums >:|
Well, I have been getting Dark Matter and Valestone mostly.
I checked the last gate some time ago. It needed about 320000 minerals to make a stratum.
I'm afraid we don't even have enough people reading the forums as for this to succeed.
Given that materials are generally randomized, if all the players on the forum did hold back everything except Dark Matter you would see the gate results skewed towards purple.
If 95% of players sell all, and 5% sell only dark matter there's a chance to skew the results favorably.
The only things that would spoil this would be -
Gates are predisposed towards generating one material over the others.
Another group of players is pushing a single mineral (say only crimsonite)
Gate generation features enough randomization that a 5% tilt towards dark matter will not push dark matter stratum.
The first is the only real concern at this time. Autosellers are not the problem, nor ever will be. The problem is gates that generate one material type abundantly enough to make that randomness more influential than player control.
If all gates always generated perfectly even distributions of materials the autosellers would always even out. If the final element of the stratum was decided strictly by the highest crystal total (so that one more purple than red meant a purple stratum) even if only one player was pushing for purple the odds are very high he would get purple gates.
Want a Dark Matter gate? Put your crowns on Dark Matter (let people get 6 for their DM instead of 5). Don't wanna pay? You won't have your Dark Matter gate. That's how it works. :)
All gates should be Royal Jelly gates imo.
actually, ppl still auto-sell, they will just get MORE money
Crystal generation is not completely random, it is determined by what level you are specifically playing with a chance of spawning other crystals: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/2158 . (The random chance was increased, but it's not strictly random.)
If I had to guess, I would say that the crystals used to create a specific type of level are more likely to spawn in it, so if you have fun playing a certain level type, you'll naturally make more of that level type just by playing and selling everything you have gathered. So if you want more purples, convince people to play in levels that spawn purples (Undead? Fiend? What's being said over here http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/2354 ?).
I think the biggest problem is that beasts and slimes both have very obvious 0 and 1 star weapons that make beast and slime levels attractive to beginners. Trying to take on constructs or fiends or gremlins or undead is more difficult because you don't have a tooltip that says "this weapon will beat the pants off the baddies". Both of these level types produce valestone, so all the gates are flooded with green.
Haha, Kaybol. You actually think boosting, which will costs 100k's of cr, will actually stop players from pushing Autosell.
You amuse me.
It looks like you can now make money from depositing minerals in lower-than-current trays. This means that you don't have to pay to start filling up the bottom tray with the color of your choice. It also means that you can boost a lower tray twice and start grabbing the autosellers in a specific color. Interesting...
Paying out 6 for DM will only increase DM ratio marginally. There will be some players who notice that it's paying out more, and will hoard all their other minerals in hope that they will be 6 in the future. Most people will probably autosell still.
If someone wants to coordinate something like this, I could get the guild I'm in to cooperate, and I'm sure we can pull some of the other major guilds as well. That should be more than enough to get the gates we want. Personally, I would not like undead, unless someone has conclusive evidence that they drop grim sparks at a significant rate over other stratus. I really really hate graveyard levels lol.
What we really need to do is contribute enough minerals to overcome the average production.
Currently that gap is somewhere between 3000 and 10000.
If we can collect roughly 10,000 Dark Matter, and put them all on a single strata - it will probably end up at the top.
What really matters is - how many Dark Matters do we HAVE?
I think Kaybol's idea is to boost a lower tier (one that isn't currently being worked on) to the point where it gives at least 6 crowns for the type that you want (in this case, dark matter)
The auto-seller automatically chooses whatever will give the player the most crowns. Doing things this way, the auto-seller actually works to your advantage. All of the dark matter is going to the lower down tier, while everything else is sticking to the top tier.
To be fair, I posted this before the price for a single boost was 600k. I think maybe a partial boost system is in order, so I could put in N crowns, or 2N crowns, and the next N purchases would be boosted...
So what gate we putting it into?
Did you consider BUYING the dark matter? (offer 6crowns for it ...man this game needs an automatic market for things other than energy!)
You can also tell people about your plan *in* the game.
If you wanted to use the boosting you'd probably better boost the other minerals elsewhere as well to make people take them there.
Even if you buy the dark matter or not, they'd resell it.
Buy all the green minerals and store them away. Far far away.
Either way I believe Dark Matter is partially responsible for making Graveyard levels, which I don't enjoy. Even despite the good changes they applied to them (can't kill a zombie that's still crawling out of a grave, can't zone out one-tricking the entire level because of those demons popping up). It's still a level with only one type of enemy (okay two) which is killed all too easily with Fiery Vaporizers. And the demons don't drop loot so I can't be bothered with defeating them. Running away far enough deals with them good enough.
I tend to pick up red and blue rather than dark.
Graveyard = god hates you
Treasure vault = me = win
Graveyard is SUPER easy solo. If you're on T3 you can get a lot of reaper bones and blighted bones from them too. They are a great source of heat, crowns, and loot
And EVERY graveyard has a chance to be a treasure vault as far as i know.
But also has a chance to be a plain, unrewarding level.
Nah.
Impossible, anyway. Autosellers are too abundant versus anyone knowing what they're doing.
