A thought on Gunner armor...

I'd like to hear some thoughts (from both gunners and non-gunners) on something I just stumbled upon when helping out a friend.

As most of you probably know, Melee armor offers a set both for Medium Attack Speed boost (Vog) and for Medium Damage Bonus (Skolver). Bomber gear offers a couple ways to get both CTR and Damage Bonus up (Mad Bomber), with other options beyond that.

However, Gunner armor offers only the Nameless Set (Medium ASI), and for some reason, the 5* version of their damage bonus remains at Low - on both pieces. It seemed a little odd when both melee and bombers had sets that offered medium damage bonus, but Gunners had to work hard only to build a nice Five-star piece with... Low bonus?

I figured that maybe this was because the Shadowsun pieces had some kind of awesome other bonus, which made up for it being low. And then I saw the Wiki page, and realized that they actually get -Negative- 3 bars to both Poison and Curse, per piece! Ouch...

Before taking this to the suggestions forum to ask for a change, I wanted to see what you guys thought. Should the Shadowsun pieces offer Medium Damage Bonus to guns, to bring them in line with both the Melee and Bomber gear that does the same?

Totally. I wear a Shadowsun Stetson and am about to get Nameless Poncho, and I'll need a Trueshot Module to balance the two. Another upgrade that I have to renew each month and set me backward 150 CE on crafting...

On an alternate view, I'd much rather have the Curse weakness removed instead because I love to use Faust but it curses three weapons instead of two and four vials instead of three now. And lasts an extra 20 seconds.

gunner can take their

gunner can take their distance and even push closer enemies (polaris) wich is like a natural bonus. The negative curse resist is negible for a true gunslinger
since you wont use faust and panthom's charge isn't that serious.

The Shadowsun Set seems

The Shadowsun Set seems equivalent to the Bombastic Set and I don't see the reason to offer ASI med on TWO sets (Nameless and Justifier). The Deadshot seems like the oddball here, offering universal dmg bonus rather than being gun-specific.

The whole Gunslinger series seems screwy.

I would love to have sets with equal boosts in each specific category (ASI, Dmg, CTR) for each weapon type. We may see them in the future, who knows..

Nameless + Justifier. Shadowsun is a waste:

2x ASI medium from armor + 2x DMG medium from tinker = ASI very high, DMG very high
2x DMG low from armor (shadowsun) + 2x ASI medium from tinker = ASI very high, DMG medium

get it? It makes no sense to wear that also poison ressistance decreasing crap armor. It's even not worth to got on max dmg ... You destroy yourself possible UV's and waste ASI wich is more important than damage for fast attacks, faster charge attacks (not charge!) and faster recovery for shielding etc.

Shadowsun w/ Swiftstrike + (CTR/DMG trinkets)

1 DMG 1 CTR =
DMG VHIGH, ASI HIGH, CTR MED.

2 CTR =
DMG MED, ASI HIGH, CTR VHIGH

or we can throw out ctr and do ASI/DMG.

ASI ULTRA, DMG VHIGH.

which offers more combinations but honestly Shadowsun should be dmg med a piece due to it's lack of resist.

Definitely sounds like there's notable support for having Shadowsun go from Low Bonus to Medium Bonus, making it a fair balance to both the Skolver and both Bomber sets that offer the same.

I'm going to post a thread up on the suggestions board asking for this change to be considered. Please head over and support it if you'd like to see this changed!

Totally. Yes. Yeah. Do. Garsh we need this so bad. Bombers get mad bomber and swordies get skolver, and what do we gunners get?
