Well, im deciding if voltedge was worth the MANY times of playing lockdown, or is the other brandishes more better for vanaduke
Cause i want a different sword besides avenger for firestorm cideal.

It wont be better, but wont be much worse if any worse at all (perhaps glacius is better because you can freeze the chargers with it, but shock on the other hand will be better versus regular zombies). If you want a different sword for fsc I suggest fang of vog instead. But elemental brandishes will work without issues.
it works like a charm, worth every spec of CE. my friend uses glacius. once i get voltedge, vanaduke will be pleading for mercy.
Jeez Ranker, chill out with the all caps! ;)
Speaking from personal experience, I hated my Avenger at first. But the Divine Avenger's charge attack is invaluable in FSC. If you really decide to go brandish, I suggest the glacius/voltedge, but you should get another weapon capable of decent crowd control like the polaris or shivermist buster.
Also, vortex bombs work wonderfully with brandish charge attacks. Just something to consider.
For FSC? Yep, it's decent. For Vanaduke himself? Mmmm... Not really, not even in P1, 2, or 4.
If you are going to get a Brandish line Sword, it is highly recommended as a Voltedge.
Voltedge>Glacius because:
They can only inflict status on the charge attack, therefore the freeze/frozen attack from the Glacius will unfreeze the enemy the next attack, whereas the Voltedge's shock will stay on the enemy.
-Bigfoot
You can loop freeze on an enemy if you're lucky and you space it right with Glacius.
Never seems to work on the Slag Guards when I need it, though...
But yes, Shock is a better status than Freeze in FSC itself. If I have both a Voltaic Tempest and a Shivermist Buster on me, I only use the Shivermist on Trojans.
Bigfootm, do you mean DPS-wise there are better swords than the 5* elemental brandishes? I always preferred using it over others like the Leviathan or DA due to the DPS alone, though not sure if there are any other swords that are comparably more useful.
therefore the freeze/frozen attack from the Glacius will unfreeze the enemy the next attack
I haven't had this problem, mostly because i charge up, release. It stops the enemies attacks, and i just back up and repeat.
/probably should mention it has UV CTR Med, so charging doesn't seem like ages between.
//also should mention that I solo.
You can actually avoid the disadvantage Bigfootm is talking about with proper positioning.
Glowing-Ember touched on this tactic as well.
The situation is you have an enemy frozen and you're charging up a Glacius charge attack. If you release the charge at the furthest distance from the enemy while still having the initial hit of the charge damage the enemy (and thus breaking the ice), then 'sometimes' the first explosion will hit the enemy and re-freeze it.
This is most notably useful against Trojans and Slag Guards whom are bigger targets. In these cases you want to attack their backs while facing perpendicular to the direction they're facing. So your initial hit breaks the frozen Trojan/Slag Guard and the first explosion might refreeze it, thus freeze locking the poor Trojan/Slag Guard for as many times as the first explosion happens to refreeze.
I am heating up a Boltbrand to craft into Voltedge right now. Shock is nice for FSC, it doesn't require careful placement like the ice to get full effect either. I chose Shock for my FSC brandish because I have a Freezing Atomizer (UV CTR VH) to handle my freezing needs and Shock is a good compromise between crowd control and damage per second.
Whether you like a Volt/Glac or DA really comes down to which sword style you prefer, 3 swing or 2 swing. I have heard other accounts that Shocking the duke is helpful, but I have just started heating up mine so I can't confirm that yet.
I have started heating up an Avenger too, so I too am currently trying to figure out which one I like better. I have a feeling I am going to end up going DA, due to the charge attack though. Its just way easier to score good UV on a brandish. My Boltbrand has UV CTR Med and an Elite Sword Focus Module (CTR Med), so once it is heated up it will be CTR Max. Its going to take a lot of luck and cash to do the same with a Sealed Sword.
I feel like the Voltedge was the cheapest to get recipes for. Well at least now that we have lockdown. I earned the 3* in bomberman which did feel like forever...
2 more quick questions about you not liking the Avenger:
1. Have you read the Heavy Sword Tips thread (or are you aware of these tricks)?
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/13083
Shield cancel alone, is a real game changer for heavy swords. Also, one of my favorite heavy sword tricks is to deliberately miss on the first swing then turn 180 degrees to connect with only the 2nd more powerful swing which knocks them back further & give you time to set up another.
2. Do you have ASI on you Avenger (though UV, trinkets, or armor)?
ASI makes a huge difference with heavy swords.
Bluescreenofdeath discussed using a Glacius charge attack to damage and refreeze a monster immediately. I'd just like to add that this is not difficult. I do it routinely, without even trying.
@Bopp: Ok, sure. Never tried. It just sounded a bit tedious. I choose Shock based on the my other weapons and the enemies in FSC. Most any other stratum I would probably prefer the better DOT of a Combuster, but Fire status seems a bit useless in FSC.
If I'm going to freeze then I prefer to bomb then follow up with Levi charge or just freeze bomb spam and keep everything frosty so my teammates can charge up.
k thx guys. I decided to go to the shockburst brandish line
@bluescreenofdeath i dont really like the style of the 2 hit swords. Its okay but my style is 3 hit swords :D
@weedle lol
The Glacius is pretty useful against Undead in general (so is the Combuster, but Slags are fireproof IIRC). Never really heard much about the Shock-inflicting Brandish line though.
