Some Solutions...

Hello everyone,
My name is Ehsan and I'm a 5*, albeit (mostly) non-paying player who is concerned about community issues, like all of us here.
Recently I've noticed a lot of threads going around complaining about everything that OOO has done wrong (or unsatisfactorily, as I prefer to call it). However, I am rather uncomfortable with 2 things:
1) The language and tone some people used. It is highly, shall we say, uncouth at times, and such language should be avoided.
2) The fact that people go to such great lengths to complain without giving any suggestions for improvements.
Thus, after keeping in mind all the complaints, I've decided to start a thread that actually does something constructive: Think of solutions.
I welcome you to post any solutions you have. However, please keep them feasible, sensible, and most importantly, polite and respectful.
To do my share, I'll be giving out 150 CE for the best solution after, say, 48 hours. I know this really isn't much, but for a non-paying player who is currently saving up for better equipment, it is quite a substantial amount.
If you need some grounds to get started upon, I would like to refer you to this thread: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/30004 It contains the most polite and intelligent complaints out of all those I've read so far, and some solutions.
Let's do our share for the game we love!
Sincerely,
Ehsan

Its a simple point of fact that players will sell Shadow keys in AH (and it will be expensive), or they could simply stock pile CE and unlock hundreds of boxes like CE buying players (only slower). The whole latter idea just points out some stupidity in the player base, but I'm 100% sure the design decision behind the lockbox wasn't based around everyone being obsessive to the point where they would try to spend $150 each on boxes to get a specific item. (But I won't deny that there are people like that... that should be sign to seek out professional help)
Assuming 5% drop rate, the general idea is that eventually, someone is going to find a key. And that someone can either sell it, or take their buddies for a chance to get some cool stuff. The projected time it would take a normal person to get shadow armor would (my guess) be around 2 months or so with moderate effort, and some resources to buy keys..... the super obsessive group did it in less then 2 days, with the giant pool of crowns/CE they stocked piled from other obsessive runs and general trading to buy the shadow keys from other players despite the high price (or even set it that high).
This lesson was in Willy Wonka for cripes sake. The rich one bought up all the chocolate in the country just to find 1 golden ticket. Except instead of getting thrown into an incinerator, they end up selling the armor for even more money, so they can buy more keys, do more runs, sell more armor.... etc etc ad infinium.

There are plenty of free players that have 5* gear. I bet plenty of them defend OOO (I am and do). You have to understand that the forums are not necessarily representative of the entire community. The only people who have valid (or at least the closest to valid) statistical data are OOO and they are clearly waiting for more. Do you really expect them to change a system that hasn't been in place for a week? That's not even enough time to gather enough data, much less think up, develop, and test a fix. Please don't answer my question either because I highly doubt your answer is going to be close to rational.
In terms of solutions, that's tough. Making keys less than 750CE will drive down the price of already cheap accessories and may very well kill that market. Killing that market may make looking for shadow keys even more expensive since the byproduct is now worthless. So I don't think that's a good route.
Increasing the odds of finding a key seems like it could do wonders for increasing key proliferation based on the minute and a half I've thought about it. This will also reduce the odds of finding accessories, bringing their price up, which will make searching for shadow keys even more worth while since their byproduct is now (more) valuable. This could very easily be taken too far and lead to excessive key searching which would drop the price of both keys and accessories making the search no longer worth while again. This is a messy fix that will require a lot of testing and definitely could not have been implemented by now. It also brings up the question of how many shadow keys are supposed to be floating around? Yes, they are expensive but they are also clearly not supposed to be accessible by every player and that, my friend, will not change.

To make things more balanced, I think most people would agree that we need to see the following changes:
1. An increase in lockbox prices
2. An increase in accessory prices
3. A decrease in shadow key prices
This can all be achieved by just manipulating the spawn rates of lockboxes and shadow keys, along with the price of silver keys.

Ehsan, can you please point out exactly for what problem(s) in particular you desire solutions?
PS: I don't know any problems apart from a few bugs, gate construction being virtually random ATM, the risk of being forced to play solo and all the noobs dying in Candlestick Keep. Solutions to those are pretty obvious I think.

umm im surprised to find a free player that is somewhat rare especially in 5* very good job sir and second im surprised to see a free player defending OOO.
come on man Nick just slammed you himself saying that the new update is free-player friendly and you could very much pursue the shadow lairs if you choose.
Does that not ENRAGE you?
finally there is no solution unless there is a way to compensate for OOO's business model to a point where they can get more money, of coarse also benefit us since we would not give that solution in the first place otherwise, perhaps when that finish line is crossed they will respond is that not pathetic and shady or what is?
