Dirt, people are not complaining about the challenge, but rather the silly monetary waste that is needed to play said challenge.
I'd like to make a comparison between the SK whiners and quitters, and well, real life.
Kirnan, Dirt knows that. He's just opining, as I have opined, that complaining about the pricing on the forums doesn't seem worth the effort.
On the other hand, Dirt has come out in favor of current pricing, which is interesting and valuable to see.
One day and four hours later I return to this thread to see 2 pages of rage. And shed a tear of joy and success.
You guys are so silly and gullible, yet sometimes boring, I'll get the time to read all them beautiful replies soon enough.
Oh, but yet, I did try to make a point here, I probably over-compared it and went to extremes, then ruined it completely with my "oh lol it should sound more like BS, maybe people with rage, that's funny lolol". But, as simpel as possible, I was trying to say:
You want new content. You get shadow lairs. But OOO intended it only for bored end-game players. You don't like that, you wanna play too. The prices however are too high. The prices of gambling. Because you don't have a sure chance unless you buy from AH. This is what I wanted to say, they meant it for end-game players who have enough money and addiction to keep gambling, and those who don't, complain about it because they wanna run the shadow lairs too, and they find the gambling system stupid.
I'm fine with it. You are not forced to play it, you play it if you afford it/ are lucky enough. I can live with that. Yet some others can't.
Jeez I sure hope you understood it now, otherwise I'll just give up lol. The only reason for this thread is boredom and how entertaining the "trolls" and arguing people are, so calm your body parts.
Tersakoff, we've already said all that, and better.
@Tersakoff You're right. Shadow lairs are optional. Buying accessories is optional. Playing PvP is optional. Doing the clockworks is optional. Playing this game is optional. However, people WANT to play all that stuff. Now, if people are running around with eyebrows and mustaches and night-vision goggles, that's OK. It's a little annoying that it's hard to get, but it's not like it's cool, playable content. Shadow keys, though, are EXTREMELY hard to get and offer one time access to playable content, new gear and a huge amount of back story. We wanted new content, and they gave us cool content that probably less then 5% of SK players can play. I don't know about you, but I'm not okay with that.
Many children these days are not used to having challenges presented to them in video games, and I think that's a shame.
The shadow lairs are accessible to those with enough in-game wealth. In-game wealth =/= skill.
One day and four hours later I return to this thread to see 2 pages of rage. And shed a tear of joy and success
Actually, there is very little rage and some quite constructive arguments - and of course a few people scratching their heads at how anyone can come up with such a ridiculous analogy.
http://i.neoseeker.com/mgv/358974-Dramon%20Knight/974/60/silver_surfer_d...
Tersakoff, don't even try to speak condescendingly as if you've trolled the whole forums, because you didn't. You just look absolutely stupid and your arguments and literary structure are horrendous. This would almost be laughably funny until one realizes you're serious.
I do actually want a shadow key, and I have spent $50 on silver keys trying to get one.
I am thinking of quitting now because I am not able to get what I want, hence no longer enjoying the game.
No really, I spent $50 and I didn't get what I want. Think about that for a second.
I could've dealt with it if it was 4000CE from boost, but no, it's a [crappy] random drop from a crate.
>acts silly (to be clearer to some of you - the analogy) to see if people would rage
>2 pages forum with several people taking it seriously
>try to explain it was a joke, yet making a point by clearly expressing your opinion on the matter of the new content.
>"LOLOL UR DUMB UR OPINION SUX AND UR ANALOGY IS WAY OFF"
^ this is what I mean. But you probably still don't get it. It's okay. :>
Now in a final struggle to explain the first post, which is still probably useless, to the last page with this topic. It has only proved me that the communication and understanding on these forums leaves the impression of two children that were never taught to speak, trying to explain the tactics and economy in this game. I'm mostly thinking you, Angrimony, and Bubba. Yeah there were a few that sticked to the actual topic behind this but the rest... *headscratch*
I don't mind the gambling and hard-to-obtain character of the new content as it wasn't intended for everybody. Shortest way possible. Please tell me you understood this.
inb4 more "UR DUMB THIS TOPIC IS DUMB THIS GAME IS DUMB UR OPINION IS DUMB"
I hope they don't change the prices <3
How are we supposed to know if the whole thing was a joke to begin with? It just sounds like an excuse because people saw through your weak analogy. "LOL just kidding" is a pretty obvious way to backpedal from an argument.
And if that's the case what was the point of this thread? It just seems disrespectful all around, the way you came in, and the way you started ridiculing everyone for making (surprise) a discussion! And a mature and constructive one at that! Now it seems you're trying to antagonize the posters more in some desperate attempt to get them upset.
This was obviously some bait for drama and you know what? The shadow lairs do have quite a bit of drama as it is. The community's quite divided over it, but there are still some of us who can sit down, discuss our feelings, and not get at each other's throats. You WANT us to fight over it and you WANT us to get upset at you, but most of us can see through your failed attempts at trolling.
So that's my two cents on the matter. At this point we can agree the analogy is ridiculous, the poster just wants us to be mad at him, and he's doing it for attention(despite it being negative). Should just move on.
Which was people complaining about shadow keys and the ridiculous way to get them, only to have people opening box after box for a shadow key which I thought you DIDN'T want to do.
It confuses me. Just use the AH.
Wuvvums, this guy is not worth your time. If he really is a troll, then don't feed him. :)
What's funny is that he thinks he has some grand insight, and that we're all idiots compared to him. But that's probably just more trolling.
THE WHOLE SHADOW KEY IS A FREAKING MONEY RACKET BY 3 RINGS PART A SMART MARKETING STRATIGIE ON THERE PART. I HAD HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR THIS GAME. BUT AS THEY HAVE KNOW OPENED UP ALL THESE SLOTS MACHINES IM GETTING MORE AND MORE DISAPPOINTED.
I CANT EVEN GET CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THERE PART. I BUGGED OUT ON THE NEW SNARLOX AND KNOW ONE HAS EVEN RESPONDED TO MY REQUEST. THANKS 3 RINGS FOR UR FREAKING CRAPOLA GAME!!!
You encountered a bug of some kind, while in the Shadow Lairs, that killed your expedition? I can understand why you would be upset about that. A refund of some kind seems in order, maybe unless it was "your fault" (e.g. your computer, your network connection).
It's alright, Bopp. Even if I am feeding the troll it'll only leave him satisfied for a short while. He'll be desperately grabbing at straws in more and more attempts to troll and end up ruining his reputation in the process. And what will he accomplish from it other than the lolz and some personal satisfaction?
If he really wanted to be an EPIC troll he'd be doing something like this:
http://ontd-political.livejournal.com/8836402.html
Yeah. They did that. While this guy's trying to backpedal and make everyone upset there are some anons out there that are doing VERY worthwhile things like that. Things that some people will say is epic trolling (like how they leaked the user names) and other people will say is morally just (taking down websites with illegal content). These are people who could "troll" and make themselves look good while doing it!
Now now, let’s just ignore OP and borrow his/her thread’s beaten corpse. Now what I am trying to do here is laying out what I can see so far for the last 2 updates, focusing mainly on Shadow Lairs. Obviously will be unrelated with metaphor crafting and whatnot.
Shadow Lairs:
Shadow Lairs are meant to be played by end-gamers; this is the point that is agreed by both the supporters and boycotters. The difficulty is set so that the whole run is supposedly a coordinated run rather than a fun-and-gun run, killing some spastic oversized wolver duo and take cool souvenirs home.
This is self-evidently OOO's intention. One just needs to digest the reward bit of this run; not much crown and heat counts in itself, but a guaranteed 5-star material for the 'souvenir' gear. This '1 material for each run' inevitably sets the fate of this content's decay. The bosses themselves are meant to be run several times only, 4 times for full content experience, 12 times for all armor sets for each participating knights. Compared to normal boss token requirements (30~15 / 3 tokens per run for only 1 out of 4-6 items), it is comparatively far less demanding in terms of repetition. Hence, a prohibitive price tag to a certain extent is tolerable.
Now then people from days back who asked for the fixed price of 3-digits CE are either straight out lazy or they don't know how SK's most luxurious 'services' and items have enjoyed a good helping of OOO's fix so far. 5* unbinding cost = 4k CE, Triple UV roll cost = 200k Cr, and they expect a measly 3 digit CE for a dev-intended epic run? This one is an obvious no.
The fixed pricing solution attempt is an old point by now, but that just shows you how many people initially misunderstood this new content. If OOO eventually decided to put shadow keys on vendor for a fixed price, following OOO's mind-set, I would say they are going to price it for some 4-5 digit CE price seeing that it is to be used by 4 knights. Don't you see that they put candies for 10k browns each? You see where this is going? The existence of that one Halloween vendor itself convinced me that OOO have quite the drug-dealing knack.
More or less, shadow key are settled as of now, maybe even in a direction that is not intended. People are turning some profits from the shadow runs, setting up absurdly artificial pricing for SL stuff, multiple times higher than even a quarter of the 600k Crown buyout shadow key price at the auction. These players are actually capable of doing their own 'whale' hunting. Blame whoever makes the Snarb armor such a 'whale' killer.
The market has spoken, shadow keys won't go anywhere down even if you boycott by not investing your time in it.
But then I agree that the gambling part as a prohibitive barrier is just OOO being cheap and make things difficult for everyone. I assume that lockbox actually outperforms their expectation that they decided to put the key behind a key. Somehow this assumption is reinforced with that one statement Nick made on one of the early shadow key thread about many people ‘sporting accessories’.
The only solution OOO could take to rectify this is to modify how the gambling bit works. One thing to say is that lockbox won't go down too, seeing as how much accessories have been bought so far. The cancer is now a part of the game, it cannot be removed. The workable problem right now is the very limited nature of the choice one can make to alter their gambling odds. There’s only one way (750 CE story-unrelated questionably-priced silver key) to open the lottery (Gremlin-made(?) Iron Lockbox) in order to gain an item from a big pool of mess that is a sea of drab headbands and other unloved accessories. The only thing a player can do is to pump his/her CE up, and that just screams of bad design and pure money grab. They can be as creative as they want to replace this kind of gambling system I’m sure, but somehow they choose the dumb simple way out; one steep-priced key, one box, 200+ drab toys to rummage randomly.
And yes I am really in big disagreement (and thought that it would flop hard) with how silver key, being only a simple KEY, is priced close to the cost to alchemize your 5* equips, even a suit of Radiant SILVERmail. The pricing for the key can obviously be seen as no more than a shameless carbon copy of TF2 Mann Co. key and as of SK current developmental phase, it is grossly mispriced. The very market itself speaks of the horror of those abominable by-product from this in-game casino; unloved accessories, tons of em, priced like a rag despite the price of the key.
And no, I don't want to hear OOO telling me story that knights can't lockpick or the gremlins charged us that price.
Okay first I was laughing but now..
Just this http://s3.amazonaws.com/kym-assets/photos/images/original/000/112/480/Op...
note to self: SK community is srs business. So, yeah, might as well just leave the forums alone as it seems most of them is just "old, pesky people" who seem to have their panties knotted.
Thread lock/kill/delete/graveyard/whatever, anybody?
WUVVUMS UR AN IDIOT, I HAD THREE OTHERS ON MY TEAM THAT EXPERIANCED THE SAME BUG!!! THEY ALSO HAD NOT RECIEVED A RESPONSE, AND WILL PROBABLY NOT!!! THANKS ALLOFMYBROWNS FOR YOUR EXCELLENT WRITING. IM QUITING THIS GAME AND SPENDING MY MONEY ON SOMETHING ELSE WORTH SPENDING ON. IM NOT GOING TO TO WASTE MY TIME AND MONEY ON THIS CRAP!!! IM LEAVING THIS GAME FOR GOOD, AND FOR ALL (((YOU SMART PEOPLE OUT THERE THATS EXACTLY WHAT YALL NEED TO DO!!!))) AND I CAN CARE LESS ABOUT REPUTATIONS!! CAUSE IT MEANS NOTHING IN THIS DUM GAME!!
TIMECLOCK,
CLOCKING OUT
Timeclock, I never anything to you. In fact, I didn't even read your post. :/
What happened to you sucked, I wouldn't disagree with that. But you shouldn't attack other players, especially those who are on your side in the matter. Be mature and respect others; it will go a long way.
Now I got more time, I read Allofmybrown's post entirely and yeah that's pretty much the opinion I was trying to tell, perhaps I expressed it way worse. The first post was a silly thing I did, hoping others would understand it's a joke, trough the stupidity of the comparison, but eh, seems like the expectations for the general quality of the posts in this forum is really low, thus making my post actually seem serious, not a silly joke. It was not intended to start a rage thread, just a joke, which I didn't think people would take seriously.
Cling on to your expectations and first opinion, not being able to accept that I really could have been joking, some people I am not going to name will come back and keep throwing insults at me for sure. But that's okay, I understand that's their capacity.
And for those who just told their opinion, yeah. Just go on.
Oh man why do I keep coming back... Probably I just want to make everything clear. Yeah. And probably I'll fail again. Oh well.
It's okay, Tersakoff, at least nobody can blame you for not trying.
Hmm, trying to? I can't tell what you're referring to.
You're right about one thing: you may as well leave the forums. You've displayed why grandiosely.
Also, just as a final note, no one here is even the slightest bit mad. We're just onlooking at the abysmal void which is this thread and expressing ridicule, that's all. LOL. Go ahead and re-read every post in the thread; none of them, at least to me, seem like they're of enraged nature.
The thing that gets me is that people keep on trying to compare the price of getting shadow key, which fluctuates anywhere from $2.50 to easily $50+, to a service or item such as getting gas for a car.
Here's the thing people, you don't pay $3.91 for a chance of getting gas, you pay a flat, defined price for gas. Yes, that price fluctuates often, but you pay and you get what you desire.
However, even if you pay $2.50/750ce for a silver key to use on a lockbox, you are NOT guaranteed to get a shadow key. This is were a lot of people seem to misunderstand.
This is playing the lottery. For people that would like to pay, there is no definitive guarantee that you will get what you desire. Unless you want to compare gambling/lottery with this, using such real world examples of items with flat prices does NOT work.
As of now, the only two methods of getting a shadow rely on chance, or you having lots of crown to outbet everyone on AH for a shadow key. For someone who would want to spend money on this game, that's a real turn-off. Yes, I might buy CE, but not for the purpose of getting a shadow key. If there was a price I could pay that would guarantee me a shadow key, then yes, I would gladly pay it, as I am not one for frivolous spending.
Yes, I am a bit mad about this. It's catering to people that will spend lots of money or those that spend lots of time. I'm the middle ground, I don't want to spend lots of money, but I also don't want to spend a month gathering cr only to get outbid at the last moment.
tldrl; Give a flat price for a shadow key, and I will pay. Give me a chance for a shadow key, and you alienate a lot of potential buyers.
It is true that many children don't appreciate a challenge. However, the problem with Shadow Keys isn't a challenging aspect. It's the fact that, for the most part, obtaining one is randomized. Even if you are a T3 player with the best equips in the game, you could still spend a long time trying to get a Shadow key. Only luck and wealth determines this, not your skill.
As far as I can tell, this is the main quarrel people have with the system. It's not that it's costly, it's that it doesn't matter whether you're the kind of player that can solo Vana in no time flat, you'll still get treated like the guy that has to res 15 times just to scrape through the Jelly King. The rich aren't the best by default, though they do coincide at times.
OOO should handle restricting their content differently, giving the rich/willing to pay exclusive access to endgame content is going to leave a large portion of the T3 community in fits of frustration.
Why do you have to compare real life to a video game? They're two totally different things.
It's just a game. Maybe kids, one day, you'll get that minimum wage job and a Visa to blow it all on CE and Lockbox rolls.
And no, I'm not trolling. I don't have either too.
