I already have the dread skelly charm and radiant crystal pin, but I heard they were weaker than status resist trinkets from one person. But I've heard that only certain trinkets work, like the anti-shock bracelet http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/10522 . Even though the bars on the status resist trinkets are lower than the defense types, I heard it was misleading. But the same guy that told me that status resist trinkets are stronger than defense types also confirmed my assumptions that defense trinkets are med level, while status resist are low level. So as a result, I"m a bit confused on how people say the bar length comparisons are misleading. I guess it all comes down to tests, but not many are still sure.
That status resist topic was months ago, and I heard that defense trinkets got a boost after lockdown. But people seem to generally think that they still don't help much. I just need some help to decide the best trinkets for my tokens. Getting doubles of skelly charm and crystal pin sounds tempting, but getting an anti-shock trinket to prevent shock is also another temptation. I'd probably only get the 5 star wetstone pendant if it lowered the probability of catching fire at the firestorm citadel even with its low bar units. But I heard you can't use your shield to block status resist attacks but only if that shield has the natural status resist protection like owlite shield preventing you in shock animation. But on the other hand, I've used volcanic plate and grey owlite shield a lot at the firestorm citadel and the damage reduction seems almost negligible.
Also I heard status resist trinkets reduce the time ticking and damage even if you cap the status resist levels at 2x max. Is this true?
okay, not sure you understand how sheilds work, but here is a crash course (if you do understand this, my apologies).
when blocking your sheild absorbs damage and prevents status aflictions (note, it stops you from getting new ones, it does nothing for one you are already suffering from). Now becaues a sheild cannot catch fire, be poisened, etc, when it stops a status it takes aditional damage. (note all numbers in the following are just there for examples) Thus if you were to block an attack that deals 20 damage, your sheilds health would be reduced by 20. If that attack would do 20 damage and poison you, your sheilds health would be reduced by 30, 20 for the damage and another 10 for the poison, if the sheild can resist poisen it would isntead only take 6 damage from the poison, same for sheild defences. Status resitances on your sheild ONLY effect your sheild, and will not reduce the duration of damage of any status actualy on your knight at all. Same for damage defences, a sheild with elemental defences does not make you take less damage from elemental enemies, it makes the SHEILD take less damage, thus be able to block more before breaking.
People say bar lengths are missleading because they are not accurate representations of the actual numbers the game uses in calculations.
As for resist trinkets vs defence trinkets, I dont know, but I figure most folks at 5* level are more interested in heart trinkets and weapon trinkets. Still with resist and defence, I would assume it works on a every little bit helps methodology, even if they arent partucularly strong, if somethiin is giving you trouble throw a trinket on it to help.
