I really want to learn how to solo. I really do.
I just can't get myself to do it, it's too scary.

I'm not the most inexperienced or weakest person on the block, I have a Calibur/Twisted Snarble Barb/Cutter/Proto Sword/Flourish. Along with a Firotech Alchemer, an Autogun, and a Proto Gun. As for shields, I'm using a Bristling Buckler. I own no bombs whatsoever. My funds are EXTREMELY limited, my rare JK runs are barely enough to keep me sufficient. All the time, I hear people talking about "Go solo, it's easier," and "Why don't you solo?"

All of my runs have always been 4 people (Except for 1 time when everybody abandoned me at Snarbolax), and Danger Rooms are always Death Rooms. Not to mention the Arenas, those are utter hell. I cannot imagine doing any of those things solo, much less an entire Clockworks run.

So here's the question: How are solo runs? Should I be afraid anymore? What do I need for a good run? And most of all; IS IT WORTH IT?

will stand next to you and shock you!

Scared of going solo? MECHA KNIGHTS.
On a serious note, being alone enemies have less health and you get all the mats, pills, etc but no one can revive you. It IS better to go solo than having a random bad team. But i prefer to find some friends and play togeteher.

FRIENDLY FIRE MECHA KNIGHTS?

Goin' solo isn't as scary as ya think! Enemies go down much faster, havin' less health than they would if ya were with someone. All materials ya find are definitely yours, along with any vials or pills ya may pick up. I hear that you can also get more crowns when ya solo, but I've yet to see that be proven.

The only glaring problem is you become the only target for all enemies, and you'll have to use Energy to revive if ya wanna get back up from fallin' down. But with the abundance of health capsules, and enemies havin' less health, it might not be too bad!

When ya become more skilled, Arenas and Danger Rooms will seem like viable rooms to head towards, especially since ya get a MASSIVE amount of crowns and heat from them.

The one thing that I fear the most

Is being overwhelmed by an endless wave of enemies, that won't ever die.

Like mentioned before, those

Like mentioned before, those endless waves of enemies... die very fast.

See, most enemies, when you're solo, die in a three hit combo, unlike in parties. If you have UV's or the right damage type, then enemies will STILL die in a Three-hit combo as you go down though the tier. If you don't, then they might take 4-6 hits in the deeper strata, but that's still not too bad.

The Caliber's charge attack will be very helpful; it has large knockback that will keep enemies away from you while doing a lot of damage. That's important for arenas! The Firotech can give the fire status, which is good for Damage over Time, and playing keep away with enemies that you'd rather not get too close to.

It is worth it. Nothing like getting that mat that you need for you next weapon... and you need not worry about a group of bad teammates. You also have FULL control over where the enemies are- no lumbers getting thrown into your face.

There... are times when you get boxed in by enemies, and thus more or less doomed. This happens, but it's rare if you know what you're doing- for example, you'll learn to be carrying stun vials! Get surrounded? Take out the vial, and watch them scatter! Then you run out of there. This... usually happens on arenas.

And, remember- you have breathing room to practice. If you have 100 mist energy, this means you have 2 free revives in T2, while still being able to complete an entire 8 floors for T2.

Ya can do it! Just try!

Hrm.

Did I bump into you yesterday on a JK run?

The easiest way to solo is calibur charge-> release on mobs -> back off -> repeat. On gun puppies take out the firotech alchemer and shoot them.
Try to keep your head on, practice dodging and blocking and you'll be fine.

Just pick the T1 gate that

Just pick the T1 gate that has the most arenas and practice running solo in T1 first. Solo is way easier then running in a PUG (most of the time). You will cut through T1 like a hot knife through butter. If you manage the whole run including all three rounds of the arenas and all the danger rooms you pass, then it is time to step up and try it in T2. Another way to practice is to run the first section of T2 (stratum 3) solo with the party locked, then unlock your party at the terminal if you are uncomfortable running stratum 4 solo.

If you are running a 2 weapon loadout I highly recommend Calibur line and Blaster line leaning heavily on the Calibur's charge as already pointed out. An elemental gun is the best sidearm for a swordsman because they typically just shot turrets (weak to elemental), but for solo I found that I liked a Normal damage gun that I could move while firing. This can be a lifesaver for situations where you are low on health and need to kite kill some wolvers (strong to elemental) or any other enemy.

I suggest you learn to handle

I suggest you learn to handle tier2 better first and then go solo. Especially joining JK groups, doing arenas should get you enough crowns on mist energy to buy energy so u can keep playing. When u almost dont die in tier2 runs, u might consider solo. Then u will get all mats yourself so u can sell those in AH for extra profit.

Using a calibur and an elemental gun should be a nice arsenal for going solo. Use charges, shield immediately after, back away and repeat.

*Calibur charge tip*

*Calibur charge tip* As soon as you start charging press your shield button. Then after you are charged only release the action button. This way you shield the instant the charge finishes.

Also, note that if you are shielding, then press and hold your action button you will be charging as soon as you release the shield button. Some people like to charge without making that first swing, I prefer to hit the nearest enemy with that first swing, kite herd the enemies in a small loop and release the charge in the middle of them and shield bump through any survivors. Rinse and repeat. (reminder that Calibur charges should be used carefully when in parties)

Now I feel a bit better

I'm gonna try soloing Tier 1 entirely first, then work my way to the first T2 stratum.

You shouldn't be so scared of

You shouldn't be so scared of doing solo runs, I think your items are great against Snarbolax. I would MAINLY use the flourish you have on a snarby run, even against the actual snarby, not just the other parts of the Gloaming Woods levels that lead to snarby. My opinion on going solo is great, but if you don't feel entirely safe alone in boss runs, go ahead and ask some friends to play with you, instead of going with random people that might make you waste you energy or might ditch you. So I head this helped. :)

Because you can take as much

Because you can take as much time as you need when solo, you can transfer any pills you dont use next to the party button so they wont get lost when you step on it. You still cant take them down elevators, but theyre useful for things like danger rooms and the last room of arenas

Wimp! ... Ok not really

I'll admit, I had the same fear of soloing when I first started. Then, I did my first solo Snarby run, and it ended spectacularly well.

Ever since, I make a party instead of joining one. You have about a... I would say close to 30% chance to have no one with you for the first one or two floors (Higher/lower chance depending on the time of day).

I personally have barely soloed tier2. Why? I have made friends with so many competent/good players. I can almost always do a 2-man run with one of them at my side (Usually they become 3-man runs because of random people joining). I wouldn't suggest trying to solo tier 2 until you have at least of some more 3* gear, maybe even some 4* stuff.

On a random sidenote:

@Nalydx: He should use his Twisted Snarble Barb instead of his Flourish on Snarby :P

I have been solo since I

I have been solo since I started. Sometimes for a challenge, I bring along my three dead weight partners. Just to give those monsters a chance. T1, means nothing to me. T2, still owns me when I am solo though. But, my loadout trio will show them who's the boss.

Give it a Try!

At first, soloing may seem tough. But through soloing u learn how to play defensively and offensively.Calibur swords are definitely a great line of swords to use when doing solo. Then u may want to consider get a pulsar then to kilowatt pulsar and so on.Its definitely worth it to solo, since u can get mats like bushy tails, swordstone and shards etc. This sell for a good amount of cr if u have patience waiting for them to sell.I have tried soloing the whole of stratum 3 and 4.Not very easy, further more in arenas,3 mini arena is ur biggest challenge. The most important thing to me in soloing,is take as little damage as possible while dishing out as much pain as possible.

Off-topic:
Hey Anakletos,we should do more 2man runs dude.Cant kill the jelly king with his minions on me D:
