Someone told me that it wouldn't help because the stats for the volcanic plate shield already has max fire defense. Is this true?
Is it useless to have a fire restistance medium uv on a volcanic plate shield?
Status resists can max out I believe:
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/10522 See comment #47. I assume similar results for a shield although it would be hard to test
yes (unless they changed it recently), feel free to reroll
I've tested along with a guildie a 3* Horned Owlite Shield with Fire max vs 2* Owlite Shield No UVs in ATH, the result was that on the fire trap inside they both broke at the same time.
Even if the resistances stack the extra medium UV won't be much help in my opinion. Since the shields fire defence is more than enough to protect against 'pure fire' (zombies attacks/zombies breath ...), while the other fire sources like shadow fire in FSC deals elemental. So if your shield breaks on shadow fire in 3 hits, then with UV it still most probably will break in 3 hits. Hope that it helps.
PS: I didn't test it on shadow fire, but if you happen to test it plz post it.
I said so in my post, But it also inflicts fire status.
I'm pretty sure the traps are designed to do the same amount of damage no matter what your shield resists. The only thing that seems to resist traps is armor(as evidenced by me standing on a spike trap with full Ash Tail)
I do not beleive that is true. Weapon bonuses cannot stack past MAXimum, but i am told defences bonuses do. I have done no personal testing mind you, but its my understanding based on what i have read.
