minecraft is probebly the best game you will ever play

has anyone played minecraft?!?
I used to play, then I realized that it was not fun, merely addicting, so I gave up banging on rocks for 3 hours a day and switched over to spiral knights.
Aragoth you are exactly right it is fun now that there is creative!!
I truthfully think its just plain dumb and it looks like it was made for little kids..... >.>
I used to play Minecraft like you once...

What? Expecting something witty or an overused meme?
I stopped playing Minecraft after the Adventure Update (1.8). I had played several custom maps prior to 1.8, which 1.8 screwed over. The main ones were Vechz Super Hostile series. My personal favorite map to date is still Super Hostile - The Black Desert, where there were only like 4 trees in the entire map, with 2 of said trees hiding a block of TNT in the leaves (this was back when punching a block of TNT sets it off). In addition, your starting spawn area is a Sand Castle made of about 30% TNT... Oh yes, and it's called the BLACK Desert for a reason, because Vechz decided to be nice and block out the sun with Obsidian, except for a few Oasis of light. The end result is both terrifying and bizarrely beautiful.

I stopped playing after the Adventure Update just because I didn't like how... RPG the game became. To me, Minecraft was all about building things. It is like GMod, except 10000x more satisfying. In GMod, you can press a few keys, and suddenly you have a fully formed fortress with a personal shrine devoted to yourself and automated defenses. While cool at first, it isn't very satisfying. In Minecraft, you mine each individual block, smelt the cobble one block at a time, hoard Iron one vein at a time, collect Diamonds one gem at a time, and then build everything from the ground up. When your fortress is finished, complete with a Lava moat and all the luxuries you need, it feels incredible. Such a deep sense of satisfaction from knowing that you made and placed every block of what is before you...
And then the Adventure Update screwed that up!
First of all, HUNGER! God dam! I don't want to make a farm! But now I have to make a farm on the second night pretty much. So not only do I not want a farm, but it will be an UGLY farm because I don't have the materials to make it all pretty! Second of all, the huge focus on combat, experience and the general OP nature of parrying makes Combat something you want to get into now. I have always enjoyed evading combat via sneaky tunneling, clever blocks, and running. That is why I like the Super Hostile series so much. The finale of the map pretty much is a siege on this massive half-Obsidian fortress, with Ghast Spawners and DOZENS of Monster Spawners. Charge into there in 1.7.3 and you will be dead within moments! But in 1.8 you could just hold parry and wait for a creeper to explode and kill everything for you.
IMO, Minecraft should of left the Adventure part for games like Terraria. Minecraft is a creation toy, not an adventure...
/end rant
@Jim-Dale: ROFL.
@Traev: You know, you don't NEED to update the game. You can run 1.7.x FOREVER!
Minecraft is very cool, the thing i like most is the extremely complex world it can generate in seconds, on which you can play forever.
28 Diamonds so far.
It is an Ok game. A good time killer and a good game with friends.
My only gripe were the broken promises we were given.
Well there are still aspects I want from the newer updates. I like the additional content in the Nether, the Fortresses, and some of the new terrain generation (like the Ravines). I would love to make a massive, elaborate, fancy bridge over a Ravine with awesome pistons and shiny stuff. I would love to set up a volley of TNT cannons to bombard a Fortress in one press of a button. I would love to set up a Minecart Rollercoaster through the twists and turns of an Abandon Mine... Yet I can't get that stuff without getting a ton of other stuff I don't like Q.Q
I honestly love Minecraft. The combat focus just makes things more challenging, even the game gets easy fast... I also think the Adventure Update was pretty cool. It was nice to find strongholds, abandon mine-shafts, and the fact that they added creative mode. Of course, you don't have to play it RPG style, you can continue to survive just the way you wanted to. Plus, the new AI systems are coming out and even a new biome.
The Adventure Update just made it easier for Custom Map makers to make adventure maps. Minecraft is supposed to have an Adventure Mode for Custom Adventure Maps like Kingdom of the Sky. Plus, a new Mod API is being brought out so that way people can get mods into the game easier to personalize your worlds.
Jim Dale feels that whoever enjoys Minecraft has never played a real game or has gone outside.
Traevelliath, I think you missed the fun of mindcraft entirely. Get out of your box. Build that block higher and higher. See how far it will go when you blow it up. Trap a pig in your fortress. Try to blow up piggie and make him fall in the moat. Be mindcrafty on mindcraft.
@Iamnoone
That stuff gets really old real fast. I had fun in minecraft via building and collecting resources. I did not have fun with the combat or exploring the world, which is what the Adventure Update decided to add. I do not play Minecraft to play an open world RPG. If I wanted to play an open world RPG, I would of bought Skyrim or Fallout.
Jim-Dale implied this, but Minecraft is not about adventuring. It's about making! I don't want good combat, I want to be absolutely terrified of combat! I would rather spend combat building myself a wall, creating a platform above the battlefield, and then dropping Lava down upon my unfortunate assailants. I don't want to have to worry about my bodily functions. I want to make a cake, not because I need the food, but because I WANT to put cake in my awesome Refrigerator made of iron blocks and with snowblock cooling!
Minecraft is an overrated, addicting game with graphics intended for 6-year-olds and almost no real content.
ALL of you haters probably only played the free version and know nothing about the fun of getting to mine deep caves, finding materials to build giant creations to your imagination And BTW: @Metagenic Spiral Knights Also has Graphics intended For 6-year-olds because it is anime style :)
I don't really consider SK to be "anime style" and anime is not just for children, it spans across all age groups. .-.
Anywho, I've played Minecraft. I'm a bit mad that the jungle biomes require a fresh new world. I don't want to go into details.
I just started working on remaking my "sand castle" a sandstone castle. And I want to make a mob grinder for my friends world.
Minecraft classic is the true minecraft. Pure building...
finding materials to build giant creations to your imagination
All the developer of Minecraft did was program Lego's concept into a game in a cheap attempt to make money and grab attention, if I wanted to be a creative builder I'd go use Halo's Forge function or just break out my 5 giant boxes of Legos.
The difference between Minecraft and Forge Mode is that Forge Mode can spawn items with a mere press of a button. In Minecraft, you actually have to MINE or CRAFT said items you want to use to build, which ends in a more rewarding experience.
While yes, Hunger is one of my main complaints, it isn't my only one.
I don't play on Peaceful because I feel like Monsters should be part of the game. They are an obstacle you have to work around.
I've been hating on Minecraft because its trying too hard to copy Terraria, and is placing a higher emphasis on exploration instead of creation.
Heh, I'm the exact opposite of you Traevelliath, in that I wish there was more RPG to Minecraft. The thought of a random new world, with new things to explore and discover was awesome... too bad he never ended up adding too much.
I love all the same things you do - the resource collection and the effort needed to obtain the materials. The challenge and the thrill of the hunt is what makes the game exciting...
At the same time, I bought into it with the expectations of crazy things to come (and quite a few did, but not everything). To me, at the beginning, it was just a crafting tool, with seamless randomly generated worlds... but the idea that he could populate those with exciting monsters, towns, caverns, dungeons, etc. was awesome. I wanted it to be everything it is now, but with more fleshed out combat, besides just "click click click". He made several steps in the direction I liked, but almost barely explored any of them. I honestly feel he just got tired of it, and rushed it out, before handing it off to Jeb and the like.
I love minecraft.
I still play every once in a while, but I prefer spiral knights.<3
I dont really play it all the time but i still do.
Get the Xbox 360 edition, They downgraded it to 1.6.8 beta, and theres no hunger bar.
I was going to reply with my typical snarky response, but then I caught myself and realized you were replying to a 4 month old post >.<

Good news for you guys, 1.3 update is released!!! Yes, I know it's too late to say that.
Traevelliath gonna hate!
If you hate Minecraft, don't tell why you hate this amazing game in this thread. Just tell it in the official Minecraft Forum. If you hate the new update, use MCNostalgia to downgrade your Minecraft to any version of Minecraft you want. Don't know how? Then you are in a wrong place.
Note: Minecraft doesn't copy Terraria.
When I think of Minecraft I think of logic and physics, that makes me think about the logic and physics in all games. I'm not saying that I don't like Minecraft, its that I can't help but laugh at the logic. Heres a list of things that you can do in Minecraft and not in reality
1.Punch a door to make it open, I tried this and parents got angry at me
2.Punch a cow with a bucket to get milk, when I went to New Zealand I saw some cows, they wouldn't even let me get near them
3.Feed a pack of wolves some bones to tame them, I'm...........not gonna try that
4.Falling into lava and only being set on fire, not gonna try that either
5.Punching water with a bucket to get some water, I did get SOME water, about 10ml
6.Lying down on a bed and falling asleep in about 10 sec, it worked when I was dead tired
7.Eating an apple in 3 sec, I choked
8.Meeting skeletons, big spiders, zombies, and endermen at night. I saw a skeleton being buried in a cemetery, didn't see a zombie or enderman, OOOOOOO but I did see a big spider, it was the size of a dinner plate
Spiral Knights Logic:
When you step on lava (shadow fire) you don't melt, not even close. Just like Minecraft
You can drop an item without using any item or part of your body. Just like in Minecraft
Some how able to survive a billion hits from rockets, gun puppies, etc as long as you use health capsules or revive with energy. Just like in Minecraft
You never get severely injured but NPC's always do. A billion other games have this same logic
Being able to carry water (without the use of anything). Just like in Minecraft................If you use the mod Too Many Items
Would appreciate it if someone continued the list for me :P
Yeah Played it for like 3 minutes than threw it out the window
then joined a multiplayer server, made an epic fortress that took a week to build, then somebody greifed.Shucks.
The realism is not the problem, it's a videogame after all, but the thing is minecraft is boring and ugly
The HUGE problem in multiplayer servers are the MAOFAO griefers. Who enjoys seeing lava on their floor, or TNT in their starage? Or maybe a minecraft "hobo" Breaks your house one block at a time? Especially on survival. On creative, it's a bit more acceptable, with unlimited resourses and flying and all, butDEFINITLY not on survival. You had to mine block after block, build level by level, craft item after item, it's totally messed up for a few griefers to break all of that, right?
I dont play this game often but i like it, coz its a creative game. And i have made combuster, levi, shiver and blitz on sv. And i wish i could have a pre account
minecraft is out for xbox 360 xbox is asmoe
I feel like minecraft is a... huh CREEPER!!! /me runs away
I personally LOVE minecraft.I got the game when it was fully released as version 1.0.0.Minecraft is a sandbox type of game. You can do what ever you want, assuming you have the proper tools. If you like to build huge building like skyscrapers, go in creative. You can do the same in survival mode, but you have to watch out for mobs, hunger, and you have to mine all the materials. If you don't like minecraft, you either haven't gotten the full game, or didn't join a sever in multiplier. The game is much more enjoyable with other ppl to play with.Sure you have to deal with griefers, but it doesn't go unnoticed. As for the graphics, notch actually wanted the game to look like that.If you want more resolution, then you can install hi-res texture packs. To me, the game is fun, and I'll leave it at that.
Also love that 1.4.2 patch, one of the most creative games.(imma squash nubs with anvils now xD)
I play it on my xbox... Why you ask? Cuz my computer can't handle the 2 game I already have on it. Guild wars and SK. :) so I play it on my xbox to prevent my house from burning down. ONLY YOU CAN STOP FOREST FIRES! #smokeythebear
I have a server for me and my closest friends.. :)
And it is quite fun.
