Merry Winterfest: News from the spy

Hiya,
didcha miss me? Been awhile since I had time to work on SpiralSpy and related stuff! Originally, I had planned to make a new release of SpiralSpy for Winterfest, but alas, the new feature I had planned to implement turned out to malfunction worse than an army of mechaknights and the code for it made even Vanaduke cry.
I don't come entirely empty handed though. Even though the software part is unpublishable junk, it produced some nice results before blowing in my face.
Happy spying!

more like, "Jim-dale doesn't like OTHER spies", amirite?
I'm calling you a spy, Jim-dale.
and a Steam sympathizer.

Btw, can I ask you to publish the "compiled" Clyde API? I had some troubles trying to do so from OOO's official thingy because of missing snapshots.

i just have to ask, each block is equal to a tile, right? if so, this is a massive boon to my plans of recreating boss stratums in minecraft

My builddir is currently a mess, so I don't have a fresh copy of the lib(s) at hand. However, you can simply download the spiralspy-1.1.jar and put it on your classpath. It should contain all five libraries.

Err no. With blocks, you are probably referring to the red squares? These are "placeables". I just rendered them as 10x10 because they only have a location and not nescessarily a size in the model (think: light source here). As far as gray and blue are concerned: Levels are made up of tiles, which are measured in tile units. One tile is at least 1x1 tileunits big, but may also span across several 1x1 blocks.
So yes, it should be possible to use my schematics for recreating levels in minecraft, using square blocks.

I know what you did last summer.

Ah i messed up my wording, I meant was each tile equivalent to a tile in game. Either way, my question it answered, thanks!

first thing i thought when i saw them? garden of goo looks like a me gusta face. :3

Just as a heads up: I redid the entire maps gallery. Level maps now use the same color scheme as the minimap, walls and non walkable areas finally look right and placeables are displayed as smaller squares to emphasize that they live within the scene.
Also: Added more levels. The gallery is still far from complete, so if you have missing maps in your scene cache, feel free to upload them to a hosting site and send me the URL.

There are quite a few similar area maps already uploaded to the wiki: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Category:Area_images
Is there any chance you could upload the ones you have?
I've looked at the levels on the wiki quite a few time, they are real nice to have.
edit:
Hmmm... looking over them, the layout of "140 - Firestorm Citadel|Ashen Armory" doesn't look right. One of the rooms on the left path of the fork looks like it is stuck on the right fork, and the left fork doesn't connect past where the forks merge again.

Sorry, no. The powers that be already ruled that the Wiki should only contain images as can be seen ingame, not the augmented versions, I provide (see: http://forums.spiralknights.com/de/node/28604).
Also, I like having some exclusive content on my site. Gives people a reason to visit and me a motivation to continue working on it.

Actually, scene 140 is the shadow lair version of scene 28. They just have the same name. Note: It's been a while since I have been down to shadow lairs. Could someone with a fresher memory confirm, that the SL levels indeed have the same names as their non SL counterparts on the loading screens?

Just putting up to confirm that SLairs have the same name as the no-SL counterparts, and keep up the good work :D

@Stonerzilla
are those maybe secrets to spiral knights?
Yes and no, I might say.
The blueish parts are hopefully uncontroversial (if not, consult your minimap :P). The green areas are... well areas. Things happen if you step into them. Most of them, are pretty much unavoidable. With few exceptions (e.g. optional sprites in the charred court), you have to walk through them in order to complete a level. So, no big secrets here beyond finally being able to see the bounds.
The red squares are an entirely different matter altogether. They represent so called "Placeables". Most of them are utmost boring, being simple props (e.g. a box, a computer screen, a gremlin tool,...). Others are misleading. If you are staring at an offmap placeable, wondering what it might be, chances are, you are looking at a lightsource. Than there is a curious class of placeables that can substitute for tiles (the blue squares). The blight boulevards make heavy use of them for building bridges. They are also another reason, why I can't provide clean wiki images. My converter actually has an option to suppress any non tiles, but some levels would just look funny.
Placeables can also be spawn location and, of course, any kind of trigger (including alchemy machines, stranger shops and non monster NPC).
So to cut things short: If you are looking for Nick's secret #10, I'd recommend (to anyone I don't like) to check the red squares for hidden switches. Simply start with the measle infection that is the townsquare and work your way downwards from there.
PS: I know, of course, which placeables have a trigger bound to them, but... ...why should only I have all the fun hunting for them :->?
Disclaimer: I'm not saying that the secret is, in fact, a hidden switch, but I'm not saying that it is not, either. I cannot be held accountable for any loss of time, hair and/or sanity that results of any information given here.
