Is there some numerical way to view ping in-game?

I'm sick of looking at this damn dead pixel on ma screen.

Also, wouldn't it be great to see other people's ping/country as well so we can selectively scrutinize

Nope, but just fyi:

Four bars: 100ms or lower.
Three bars: 101ms to 150ms.
Two bars: 151ms to 250ms.
One bar: 251ms or more.

other player's ping shouldn't

other player's ping shouldn't affect you (I've never noticed lag when everyone else is complaining about it). The server controls the game and each player has his own ping to the server. If one person is lagging you should see them jump around your screen, but you should be perfectly fine. I would never want ping numbers visible because then some jerks would kick people for non-existent reasons.

What Batabii means is a

What Batabii means is a player with bad ping might not be pulling their own weight. I wouldn't make the assumption automatically though, I've seen plenty of good high-latency players. If you're an American, try joining a Euro server game and see how it feels. That is how SEA players have it ALL the time, but worse. But it would be useful to know if others are lagging, right now I have to base my estimates on "oh hey, they're running against the wall on top of some spikes, they're probably lagging".

All players' computers have

All players' computers have to communicate with each other, right? if one player has bad ping, doesn't that make it slower for everyone?

No? Their ping only effects

No? Their ping only effects them, the only time someone with a bad connection would cause lag for other players if they're host a P2P connection. In Spiral Knights another person's connection cannot have an effect on you.

When I say that player's ping

When I say that player's ping shouldn't affect each other, I am assuming good design. I don't know exactly how OOO designed the game, but there is no reason for one player to hinder another players experience unless the lag causes them to hit a monster into a teamate. Otherwise lag should only affect the player with the lag.

Anyways, you don't need ping to determine if a player isn't carrying his own weight, nor is it a good indicator as you pointed out yourself.

Being in Australia, I

Being in Australia, I definitely struggle against vana's mask. I get hit before flames or bullets hit me on the screen because of the horrible connection.

Anywhere else (bar SL yet) I can manage, but vana is a problem currently due to the slow connection (& I'm on 100mbps too).
