All three give medium sword damage, and medium x 3 = maximum. If they give you maximum damage, then are UVs with extra damage against monsters wasted with this get-up?
Does Skolver Coat + Skolver Cap + Barbarous Thorn Shield = Maximum sword damage on all monsters?

Max damage bonus doesn't mean a lot though
I have Skolver Coat, Miracle Hood, Barbarous Thorn Shield and Dark Thorn Blade (4*, I haven't found the 5* recipe yet). That gives me Max damage bonus vs fiends, but all I noticed is that I can use the first swing to one-hit kill a devilite in the first stratum of tier 2. The bonus is not big enough to reduce the number of hits required in second stratum.

It is enough to get you from 3 to 2 shot them, which a very big deal, especially in T3.

Culture explained it pretty well, if you want a better explanation to go with a similar question I asked a while back.
Basically, family bonuses are boosted by "regular" damage, but don't stack, so "sword:max!" with "slime:max!" will give you the same damage as "sword:max!".
