So, as many of you have probably realized, the search bar sucks. It is extremely difficult to find things you are searching for, there are no filters you can add, and I don't even know how it works yet, sometimes it seems to be by frequency of word, others by the title, and other times even by date.

LET THE PROTESTING BEGIN!

I search with Google since it actually finds what I'm looking for most of the time.

Hey Aemicus, rather than

Hey Aemicus, rather than talking crap about something, then admitting that the problem you have is with the layout; why not post how YOU think it should work and put that SUGGESTION in the suggestions section of the forum?...Just a suggestion...

Have you seen the suggestion

Have you seen the suggestion forum? There have been plenty of posts about the forums and how people think they should be changed, and the search bar has come up a lot. Wait, no, you probably haven't seen them, because you didn't think to search for that before posting this. Why? THE SEARCH FUNCTION IS AWFUL.

I have a suggestion for you. If you are so annoyed by a simple protest about something that should have been changed a long, long time ago, head on over to your little suggestion forums, ignore the search bar to see if this has been brought up before, and make a suggestion about how people should only be able to post about what YOU agree with, not their own opinions.

Oh, something else I noticed

Oh, something else I noticed about Melisan. You seem strangely resistant to actually helping a post and seem more inclined to simply bashing it if you do not agree (http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/39411). So, let's hear your opinions on why the search bar is so godly to you, because, really, I can see no other reason for your post (besides trolling), than that you actually LIKE the search right now.

yea, sorry. Red-faced outrage

yea, sorry. Red-faced outrage in this game is never met with anything contempt. We all know the forum sucks, and Drupal sucks. We all hate it, and yet here we all are, using it. It works for the devs and mods for what they need to do, so it's not gonna change. Sorry /shrug

"Have you seen the suggestion

"Have you seen the suggestion forum? There have been plenty of posts about the forums and how people think they should be changed, and the search bar has come up a lot"
So what exactly is the point of your thread? If you know that there are suggestions about the search facility, why didn't you add to one of those threads?
"You seem strangely resistant to actually helping a post and seem more inclined to simply bashing it" No, only the stupid ones like this. The problem is, that almost all of the ideas that people like you have "just thought of" have been brought up, talked over and thrown out long before you joined the forum, and it irritates me that if you were a little less lazy and used the search function you would realise this.
Posts that get noticed by the devs are mainly the long ones with many people discussing them, this gives them validity, if you want your voice heard add your opinion to a long thread concerning your idea.

The real problem is that it

The real problem is that it searches at about the same speed as dial up.

Otherwise I honestly don't care since... I just don't care. I'm only for the current news, and I favorite thread pages that i think ill need.

EDIT:
Melisan says it all. Can I copy and paste your post into every "new idea" thread like this?

"So what exactly is the point

"So what exactly is the point of your thread? If you know that there are suggestions about the search facility, why didn't you add to one of those threads?"

Because the devs do not actually read the posts, they just look at the titles. If there is more widespread resistance to the search bar (like moving out of the suggestion forums), then they are more likely to change it. I don't know why you hate this so much, other than the idea of trolling threads is a pastime for you.

"The problem is, that almost all of the ideas that people like you have "just thought of" have been brought up, talked over and thrown out long before you joined the forum, and it irritates me that if you were a little less lazy and used the search function you would realise this."

I never claimed to have "just thought of this", I even referenced other threads in here, so I have no idea where this came from.

"Posts that get noticed by the devs are mainly the long ones with many people discussing them, this gives them validity, if you want your voice heard add your opinion to a long thread concerning your idea."

So, if you don't like the idea of this thread, stop "adding" to it and leave, then the devs will be less likely to notice.

Good day, sir.

“If there is more widespread resistance to the search bar (like moving out of the suggestion forums)" suggestions are to go in the suggestion forum, that's why it's there.

I think that in order to

I think that in order to answer the suggestions forum question once and for all, we need to make a list of all the suggestions in the suggestions forum that have actually been implemented over the past six months.

We could probably use the search bar.. oh, right.

without having read much of the convos going on in this thread and without doing any googling for devs' quotes or for a debate about their activities regarding the suggestions section,
i was thinking the exact same thing, when i read this statement of his lol
maybe not a proof but he could add anything meaningful based on "devs" that supports what he says or add words like probably or likely
after all even devs dont always have the same behaviour, they just have specific duties and restrictions like every1 else

correct me if im wrong, im ready to laugh(and eventually troll the suggestions section lol)

@Melisan
Seriously, if you thought that my thread was stupid, then why did you not help me? Seriously, even though my thread was bad, yes I admit it, what Aemicus said, why do you feel like bashing threads down? Why do you need to do that? I am sure it will not kill you to use your time helping people rather than bullying them? But, seriously, why do you feel so inclined to bully people?

Maybe you should look at all

Maybe you should look at all my threads before you make sweeping statements, the fact that you only see me "bashing threads down” speaks volumes about the calibre of your threads or the suggestions you think are good. I do not "bully" anyone. If you are going to put poorly formed ideas out to public scrutiny, then accept that people will comment in both positive and negative forms, and if you can't handle criticism then make sure your ideas are fully thought through and well-formed AND HAVE NOT BEEN POSTED IN THE FORUMS HUNDREDS OF TIMES BEFORE, or.....don't make them. I'm not about to help anyone saying "let’s get rid of energy" or "lets protest the search bar" because the former is just spam and the latter has been posted in different forms throughout this forum (use the search bar to find them). New and interesting ideas are few and far between because so much space in this forum is filled with people who cannot seem to add to a suggestion, but would rather make a new thread that pushes other (and possibly great) threads off the front page and into obscurity.

Also you are off topic.

You are also off topic.

You are also off topic. Alright, so people may misunderstand and make threads which are pointless, like myself, but you have in this thread and in my thread made comments which shows you bash threads down. There is no denying the truth. Also, if you are not bothered to help people, why are you bothered to smash their threads down? Anyway your form of "criticism" is a form of bullying. The replies you make are pointless and do not have any reason, but why do you, yes you, make pointless comments? To add to that, your comments will come over my criticism, so if you cant handle them, "make sure your ideas are fully thought through and well-formed AND HAVE NOT BEEN POSTED IN THE FORUMS HUNDREDS OF TIMES BEFORE, or.....don't make them" (well in this case, not ideas, but opinions).

Melisan is helping in disguise......

you do realize by getting everyone worked up about him and one little post, he's :
1) kept the tread up to date for more people.
2) made it over 5 times longer.
3) tried to provide constructive criticism.
4) completely derailed all of you from the topic here..........

he's helped you so much it's not even funny. stop getting upset. no wait....

Sorry Foxet, the thread had degenerated long before your actually useful post, unfortunately even armed with the knowledge you imparted I doubt it would have been enough for them, they were after people to fall over themselves and agree without any thought, and when this didn't happen they got defensive.

The only one trolling here is you, Melisan. And you're right. There is not a lot of thought behind this, but quite a bit of experience. I have attempted to use the search bar many times, yet it has always frustrated me. If you can truly say that this has never happened to you, teach me your secret. If not, leave.

slow loading time compared to google & no sorting/filtering of any kind

without that post i also wouldnt have seen this, which is shown only if u find nothing when searching:

"Check if your spelling is correct.
Remove quotes around phrases to match each word individually: "blue smurf" will match less than blue smurf.
Consider loosening your query with OR: blue smurf will match less than blue OR smurf."
