Yay for content, finally.
I don't really care about the quality of the content at this point as long as it gives me something new to do.

Jim Dale is not a blind fool to this house of mirrors. Jim Dale does not see "new" content.
Jim Dale must embark on a quest to kill Ice Wolvers. Jim Dale can kill Ice Wolvers in his regular expeditions. Combine this with a Scenario room out of a hat and you have an ORIGINAL MISSION.
Don't take Jim Dale for a complete critic, Jim Dale sees more "Polishing" to the game, but not the addition of content. There is more story, which is nice, but Spiral Knights does not have the greatest plot.
Jim Dale just sees a smoother experience, is all.
Neodasus thinks Jim Dale should judge final product as demos are not accurate representations
Ah, thank you for clarification Nick.
Will there be any rare monsters that were taken out a long time ago in the game again as parts of missions??
Like the Axe-armed Lumber dude and the Tortodrone? Sloombargo from the old sloom themed levels that were taken out? I can't remember what their names were - the aurora isles or whatever that had the slooms. Those would be sweet to see and make Royal Jelly armor more balanced / useful as well as sleep resistance UVs
@Jim-Dale
Check out the preview pics from the OP link and try and say that that looks like normal clockworks we are used to cuz it dont
Edit: http://media.spiralknights.com/wiki-images/1/1e/Defense.JPG
Look at the two gun puppies that are near eachother to the left.
I am just ITCHING to shoot my nova driver charge in their little pocket. This is the first thing I want to do once missions come out. Find those dang gun puppies and disintegrate em.
@ Rawrcake:
Starlight Cradle is what you seem to be referring to.
There are some new maps and stuff from what Nick posted.
Also the mission the Crimson Order.
And arbitrary meaningless points! Those are important.
Ah, yes that.
Will we be seeing old monsters like the Tortodrone and see reappearances of things like Starlight Cradle?
@Nick
As you surely know, I have made it my mission to solo the Royal Jelly with piercing weapons during this new content drought. I see you have chosen to throw down the gauntlet with this preview tease of yours. Only one of us can come away the victor in this race.
Well it's good to know that's there's going to be a new boss soon.
Wow. I can't wait for this to be released!
But man I think I'm gonna SUCK at doing this stuff.
3X<
Wow, this looks really cool.
...I think you made me so happy that I fought of my cold in 5 seconds flat...
OK, maybe not, but I am feeling less sick suddenly.
hope there are prizes that those of us with all level 10 5* gear can get excited about, like actual new gear or something like that.
I also hope the gunslinger hats will be fixed.
I do believe that's excitement and anticipation I feel through my armor.
this looks really sweet,
I think I'll nab an elevator pass when these missions are released!!
so... please hurry!! ;P
PLease let there be a "Defeat the Tortodrone" quest.
in one pic you can see a boss simbol.
what boos is gona be? maybe trojan boss?
i read that we gona fight many trojan...
i didnt understand well some thing. we will be abel to craft new gear/weapon during the missions?
If people have to SOLO most missions, do we AT LEAST get health capsules or something?
when this system is released, pls dont let it drop, keep adding more missions, even if its just 1 new mission every now and then
just a suggestion
I'm thinking the preview of it has to be during this month since we all purchased energy. I would hate for the 30day period to run out and have to buy more just to get a taste of this update.
But on the topic of this upcoming HUGE update.
This sounds so epic!
Finally something new to do!
Really exiting.
I expect a lot of people to be rageing on the forums after this update happens. No one respects their work put into it for the most part... Anyways great update! :D
Yes, I have one super important question that CANNOT be denied!
Nick,
Will tortodrones appear at all during any of these missions?
Say yes! Please!
I expect a lot of people to be rageing on the forums after this update happens
Yea, probably. Like always ;-)
Missions may be a good way to introduce new players to SK mechanics and teach them about damage, monster families, statuses etc.
I mean something like:
New player: I'm new. What shall I do?
Mission NPC: Go kill some frostifurs - you will need Piercing defence because beasts deal Piercing damage. Also get some gear with Freeze resistance - it will help you survive on all Freeze levels.
Not something that happens now:
New player: I'm new. What shall I do?
Veteran Munchkin: Get Vog Cub set and Grey Owlite Shield because it's best for FSC. And doing anything other then grinding over and over FSC is not an option for REAL player.
I'm curious about how doing missions with other people might work out.
Assuming there's team play in this, if I go and get pretty far into the Rank missions. Clearly I'd be able to go back and help them, but would I be able to invite guild mates that haven't gotten as far to come play on my levels? Would they still get the rewards?
Half the fun is doing new stuff with friends, after all.
More great impending-update news, sounds great! :D Might get an elevator pass for this one... One question though, will the weapons update (regarding split-damage weapons) be released first? Hate to have all these teasers being floated around at once :3
I hope the Supply Depot lets you get those PVP exclusive mats/ weps too.
that way the closest i need to get is Sullivan in the arcade...
I REALLY dislike lockdown and i want the electron vortex line.
Before I played SK, I played a game called Pocket Legends for the Android system that used some similar techniques. I thought this was a very good way of keeping a game free and still having many pay features. There was a ton of pay-for gameplay, including pvp and team pvp and special "play only" dungeons. The thing that stuck in my craw is that to get farther in the game, once had to buy expansion packs. It's good to see that SK will still be a f2p to elite game.
What I'm wondering is how the Supply Depot will be any different from those lonely NPCs that sell equipment.
@maeko - you could always just buy an unbound electron vortex. Selling those things is sorta like selling snarbolax recipes at basil.
Or, you could play blast network since that pays out krogmo coins faster than lockdown.
Trying - The Supply Depot is different from the Bazaar shops in that its goods cost energy.
I hope it doesn't cost too much, But hey for exclusive items it may be worth it, same reason I got the scissors.
@Maeko I've got all the EV line recipes if you want to pay for crafting and unbinding. It'd probably be about 7000ce though. You'd probably be better off just buying krog boosters and suffering through some BN or LD.
Thank you for the offer, but bombings on the back burner at the moment, but yeah, Ive resigned myself to start grinding PVP Again for those 250 or so coins. I'm just putting it off as long as possible XD.
Need now :D
I'm afraid we're finally really running out of useless stuff to do this time. Hope those missions will last a while.
Impressive.
inb4 a 10 page topic full of complaints to roll back this update
:)
The possibility of new content is exciting, but I will remain cautious. Unless I am interpreting incorrectly, some of the new missions cost energy to unlock, which means they are effectively behind a pay wall. Like the shadow lairs. Which were a huge success, right? If there is new, exclusive gear that also can only be purchased with energy...
This update appears to signal a major shift towards premium currency. Depending on how it is implemented, this could be very bad for the playerbase. If crowns become a secondary currency to energy, the crowns/CE exchange will shift to the point where free to players cannot afford to progress, because those who buy CE will have no reason to want crowns. As it is now, the only real crown sink to the average player (that can't afford accessories/featured auctions) is recipes, and if the new Basil is going to sell those for energy as well...
I NEED TO BETA TEST THIS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
The difference is you had no idea how much it would cost to get into a shadow lair, and you had to pay each time. That system was just... ugh.
Even now it's still pretty poorly designed since even when getting cheap keys and splitting the cost between the party you're not even likely to break even from a lair. Hopefully at some stage Shadow Keys will see permanent price reduction, especially since the Mission System will likely draw any desire people had to play them away.
As for the Mission themselves, this all sounds very promising. I'm caustiously optimistic, but some of these sound really fun.
This......this is it! And btw, to Jim, the preview pics definitely do not look like scenario rooms. And new content doesn't mean every single aspect has to be new. Just a change from the ordinary day to day things, like lockdown, clockworks, and selling recipes in front of Haven 1 AH even though no one pays attention.
Can I assume that the ultimate reward for becoming a Vanguard is unlocking the Pink Pith set in the Supply Depot, Nick? :DDD
What are you talking about?
I only ask because I want every scrap of info I can get
That armor set. I've been eagerly awaiting its return since before the dawn of time!
cool XD
BTW, is the demo suit being worn with that gremlin helm the bombastic? The white parts seem to be a bit too light for it...
You can use any gear you wish when on a mission, they are no different in that sense than the Arcade and do not feature 'mission-only' gear.
Regarding the Supply Depot, it is a separate track of item progression should you choose to use it. With its release, a player could choose to acquire weapons or gear by purchasing it directly from the Supply Depot, crafting it, buying it from the AH, trading for one, etc. It's simply another means of acquisition.
However, items within the SD must be unlocked through completing Rank Missions. Only a high-ranking player who has successfully completed many Rank Missions will find they have a nice suite of items available in their SD.
