Is it just me?

...or is there a large influx of beggars/lowballers? Within the last 24 hours I've been bothered by two people asking for CE, one person asking for a very large loan, about three lowball offers on stuff I was trying to sell, and a very courteous player who did the following:
Him: "Selling Thwack Hammer 1k CR"
*random-trades me*
Me: *Puts up Heavy Hatchet*
Him: *Clicks confirm*
Me: *clicks Confirm*
Him: ...WTF! Fnk you!
Me: .../thinking, "Weren't you the one who clicked confirm first?"
Two minutes later
Him: Selling Heavy Hatchet 2000 cr!
Seriously, what's with the sudden increase? I hang in Haven 1 every day and this rarely happens, not in such magnitude. Is it a result of the Dragon Wing and Sonic Promos back-to-back, or, like I said, is it just me?
Discuss, please.

That, surprisingly, I have not tried. Thanks for the info ^ ^

i get asked for loans or freebies before i even get loaded.
I get 5* people whispering me (in skolver sets) "plz 100 ce to craft my weapon?"
I get asked for some substantial loans.
i am constantly being asked to buy people stuff off Featured Auction with the promise of a payback "sometime next week"
I get asked to randomly supply unbind for a trade b/w 2 parties i dont know "promise i'll pay u back with his payment!" --wait, you don't have a friend you could ask instead of me? a guildmate? if they dont' trust you, why should i?
I get people begging me to buy there stuff at lowball prices (this i find hilarous) they i say no. Because i don't buy and resell stuff. not worth the risk. So no, i won't give you 5k ce for a vh beast voltedge. or vh slime blitzneedle.
I get asked for price checks.....followed by harassing me to buy it for the high end of my appraisal.
I get asked to buy people cheap accessories on AH (dusky dragon wings for example)
or "can i have a lockbox/key?"
And "how did you make your money? can you teach me?"
how do i teach someone to unlock 2 wolver tails in teh first week of lockboxes? and then get lucky to sell them for more than they are worth?
Here is your problem xar. you are a known name. you have an awesome costume. you have twlight aura. you are screwed.

It helps to throw in a bit of "cr plz" here and there, it has surprisingly helped me. I guess when other beggars see other beggars, they go somewhere else, they don't like competing. =D

I have a Proto Storm loadout that I almost always equip whenever I go into Haven. Just hide under a canopy and switch into proto gear, then walk into the town square looking like a noob.
Surprisingly, it was inspired by Xair herself.

I *have* noticed a (small) increase in beggars recently, although I hadn't thought much of it.

It's no secret I run around in T1 gear in Haven because I'm waiting for T1 LD. I never beg anyone around, I'll run around a lot and just type the usual zone message every 2 mins or so... and then people come up to me, random trade, and say "Take this Defender" or "Here's a cutter".
Sadly, instead of profiting on this like a normal human being, I find the first all proto'd person I can, and just give them the stuff I'm given.

I inspired that? Please tell! :P
@Everyone thanks for the input. I certainly would put on my proto gear, if not for the fact that I put so much time into my Dragon costume >.>;
On the other hand, I'm working on a White Wyvern layout. Maybe that'll reduce the begging ^^;

@Xairathan
I sometimes do a few things to keep beggars away.
•I almost always put /afk "Sorry, AFK."
•If someone keeps begging, either hide the trade or be quite cruel and put all your $$$ in the trade window, then go AFK.
•My favorite. Ignore button! :D
•Change Havens
•If they're asking for crowns, trade them, and give them 2 CR.
•If they want free items, trade them and give them a soul dust (Or any other worthless mat).
•If they want CE, hand them 1 CE.
Normally all of the above gets beggars off my back, hopefully it will work for you. :D

Thanks for the info :P
A bit cruel, but I believe it'll be highly entertaining
Oh look, another person asking to trade Tails Tails' on a Wolver Coat for Dragon Wings. And buggering me. *sigh* time to use that Ignore Button...
[EDIT]: Have you noticed how many people use 'Birthdays' or 'Siblings' as an excuse? :P

When I'm in haven I get at least 20-40 people asking me for things over the course of 10 or so hours.
I see probably 4x this many beggars total.
Nothing new to be honest.
I tell them to work for their wealth like everybody else had to, including myself.

Thanks for the input. From what I gathered, in-forums and out, the level seems to be about the same, maybe a little bit of an increase, but it seems I get the worst of it since I'm in the 'Selling Haven' 80% of the time. Guess it's time to crack out the old noob-bombhead suit again...

I deal with beggars with ultimate and sincere cruelty.
Hqf the time beggars don't understand pricing for some items.
Last week, I walked off with sun silver (he mustof had alot tokens lying around) for about 500 cr.
Resold into AH. *insert smirk here*
Another time, I almost got a deal where I sell each shard for about 500 cr each.
Sadly, his friend tagged along soon enough.
I haven't seen any more beggars as of recent, either cause I'm earning a name of noteriety, or cause I have a demolition set equipped.
But yea, if something annoys you, find a way to outsmart it.

Yeah, I've been getting a lot of people begging for CE and Crowns to me nowadays.
Even this one person keep asking me to pay for their elevator rides and also asking me for CE and Cr! I mean, come on! Gimme a bloody break already!!! That guy also has 5* equipment too!!

I never get people begging me for stuff. Mind you, it's pretty hard for beggars to find me when I'm in the clockworks actually playing the game.
I've never quite understood why anyone would hang around in haven for longer than it takes to clear out excess mats in the AH or vendor away some boss tokens. I mean, it might be fun to chat with folks, but without a decent chat tab system it just gets swamped with other conversations and turns into a complete mess.

I despise people who ask to be tabbed so they don't waste their precious CE. And people who lie about their rev cost and lie about not having enough energy to the next depth. Rev cost can be checked with their name, and if their symbol is yellow, they have enough energy.

@Nicoya
Some people feel like wasting their time selling recipes in front of the AH. Others just have nothing better to do.
I once saw someone buying green shards for 35 or so crowns each. I logged off. I log on 5 hours later to derp around in the AH before lockdown, and I see the same exact guy trying to buy shards. It was pretty sad.

I don't get many beggars, at least no more than the average person, what's with the trade spammers running around Haven and all. Whenever I get asked personally, I change into my beggar loadout (yes I have one) and beg right back. Usually they stop whispering and go bother someone else. If I'm feeling lazy, I ignore them immediately.

Unfortunately I am related to a beggar like this, except everything he does is for IRL stuff.
I am pretty certain if he didn't steal a credit card he'd beg just as much in SK. He's banned, at least.

Yea, I feel really odd when I'm trying to hock stuff in the trade channel or haven 1. This game doesn't really have anything to do while loitering, but people have built virtual empires on trade chat sales. When I am in Haven sitting around, I don't get too many random trade requests, which is nice.
Also, I've seen people in /2 selling the same thing for practically 48 hours straight. At least every time I log on, which is completely random through an entire day and most of the night. It's the unfortunate thing about knowing Australian and Philippines players....

"Guess it's time to crack out the old noob-bombhead suit again..."
"old noob-bombhead suit"
"noob-bombhead suit"
NO. That's MAI costume! >:D
I don't get bothered. I doubt anyone notices the DTS on my back and just pay more attention to my 'non-high-looking-armour'.

I looked at the screenshots you linked to in your comment on that thread, and thought it was a genius idea, so I tried it out and realized that it was also a great way to avoid beggars.
WTB option to stop getting random trade requests.
