After seeing all the hate that Three Rings are getting, I think it's time to shed some positive light upon the forums.
So here I go

What is the thing that you like the most about this game and would like to thank Three Rings for?

Personally for me, it's the Art and Graphics of this game, which in my opinion, are truly phenomenal.
So now it's your turn!
What is your favorite feature of Spiral Knights?

Oh and before the hate starts coming in, what should you people that like to hate (Not naming any names) be hating on. This is a Three Rings appreciation thread.

Bye! Jamoo bids everyone farewell.

    The music.

This a thousand times.

It usually fits pretty well with setting and "action" of the levels too.

Again, from another thread:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkTcbaG9NhI playing while you dredge through the shadowy pixels and dead gremlins fits the mood of the level SSSOOO perfectly. It gives you that urgent " Whatever/whoever killed these gremlins is not too far from here! Be alert!" creepy vibe from it.

The soundtrack is just brilliant for this game.

Soundtrack deserves a Grammy

Soundtrack deserves a Grammy or something.

The randomization is cool too. Random levels on random themes on not-too-random player-made ever-changing gates makes each adventure unique.

Characters are like Lego - I can rebuild my character every time I play. I can mix and match my gear and play any style I want - no need to create another character to experience another play style.
Endless possibilities with one character. No fixed class/role/skills/experience level/stats.

Costumes.

You have no idea how pleased I am with the sole fact that I can wear a costume over my armour. That on its own makes this game so much better. It's a bit of a shame that character customization is terribly expensive, but that is how the cookie crumbles.

Good job Three Rings, and keep working on that content!

Nothing personal, but I turn the music off in my playtime. It distracts me. But I bought the OST to listen on my ipod. :)

The (quite) newly added accessories + ability to have costumes

Customizing your look is really nice, (though the availability of rarer accessories have visibly steep price. But i understand why..)

To portray your look unique look is always a form of art for me

Oh why would I take offense to that? :P

I, too, often turn off the music every now and then. Usually to turn something else on(metal or J-pop/rock), need some silence or if I"m constantly needed. The music is amazing, but I get bored fairly easy, so I change the music from the OST to the something else and vice versa. Just to make sure I don't get burned off from it.

So I wouldn't blame you, if you do turn it off, so you can better focus on the gameplay rather than the mood of the setting. Do what you need to do, so you can play at your best.(Except cheating of course. xD)

So...yeah, none taken. :P

First and foremost: The creative team; art, music, design team all over the game is magnificent to see.

Allowing the use of armours as fashions, as well as regular fashions.

Versatility within armour/weapon selections; although it can be further improved, it's still pretty great for what it is.

Dungeon Crawler random element, keeps you occupied

Awesome bosses

Loads more beyond that.

Social Aspects

I came for the Music and Graphics, but stayed for the gameplay, guilds and social networking. Here's to going on Guild Runs! Also, the huge variety of gear to choose from is amazing (especially wearing gear as a costume).

Finally, with the upcoming Mission System, I'll finally be able to progress at a faster rate (took me over 150 hours to reach tier 3). Thanks, Three Rings!

What I love most? Not having to lock yourself into a skill tree. I want to raise hell with my swords? No problem, just strap on my BTS, grab some blades and go. I want to shake the screen with bombs? Volc Demo helm and elite focus module get! etc etc.

Like kakelgis mentions in that thread, there is nothing wrong with necroing such a thread if there is more relevant information to be added. Also I'm sure some of the newer players haven't seen it and would enjoy reading through it and possibly adding to it.

I like the way we can be whatever 'class' we want with just a change of armour. I usually go for healer-types in MMOs, but I just wanna run into a dungeon and bash some mobs sometimes, ya know? Granted, there's little to do but bash mobs in unless you go support bomber, but I still like having the choice. The array of weapons is interesting too, since I usually play games were you have fixed skills, and your weapons just dictate how much damage each skill does.

The fact that its a fun play.

I like that it offers enough depth to keep ones attention, but i truly appreciate that its a fun play, an easy play, a low-investment activity (to be good at) so to speak. Granted, I and many others invest countless hours on this low-investment activity.

But i love that after a hard days work I can come home, turn it on, and play it--even mindlessly at times. There is no great concentration that must be channeled like chess, no giant learning curve to understand the game (like trying to learn a new Final Fantasy game--or any other complex game that requires tutorials and training manuals to learn.) I like that there isn't endless childish text --tiny tiny tiny text -- constantly chattering at me about things i don't like or couldn't care about. I like that there is an underlying plot, and its interesting, but they ultimately accept that they are by no means a story driven game. So many games, almost every RPG of the last 20 years :( [final fantasy tactics not-included] has left me endlessly skipping through their text to just get to the gameplay. I am glad spiral knights doesn't do this. NPC are not asking me to find their lost kitty, deliver their mail, wake their grandpa up, or any other arsenine request. I just turn on, whack stuff, collect stuff, and go about it.

No studying like i would to get good at chess. Now practicing and withstanding cheese like i'd be subjected to on Starcraft. No agonizing over and researching skill-trees to make sure i don't waste every level up and/or skill point. No "emotional" plot lines that i'm not the least beat invested in and wish they;d just stop trying to pull my heartstrings. No dance routines that i have to watch for the 100th time after i accidentally clicked on the piano, again, heheeh.

I love that its mindless entertainment. and that if you want to make it deeper than that, you can put some mindfulness into it, and do other things. But unlike many other games, games i have enjoyed and played a lot of, spiral knights never feels like a daunting chore i "should" be doing, but don't quite feel up to it quite yet. Its never like, "oh, i should really turn that game on, but i kinda don't want to..but i should...but i know i'd have fun if i did....but to heck with it, i cna't be bothered."

so yeah. thats probably my favorite thing, top of mind.

spinning while running. XD

You know how some things bring out the good in people, and some thing bring out the bad in people? (ex, natural disasters or tragic events brings out the good in people. money brings out the bad in people). Its really fun how spiral knights brings out the cute in people. with such cute little knights in such cute armors and cute little snipes zipping around, we are all drawn to the natural urge to spin in tight circles, sometimes whilst orbiting our bestest online friends.

spinning while running. XD

Interesting post there; gotta agree though; there's a whole vibe that the game gives to everyone subconsciously and it generates an almost uniformed response amongst players about it; but it's a pretty good thing!

Spinnin' is the business though; bein' a bomber is amazin' for it becasue you can do literally everythin' in non-stop spin motion! Doin' arenas spinnin' the entire time is incredibly (exhausting) fun!
