Ok, first off, the kick was justified. A random can't just join the party and tell the other members how much their gear sucks (layman terms, I'm too lazy for detail atm). Joining, fine, suggesting, also fine. But saying that other people's gear is worse than their's 'just because'? Not fine.
The kicking system was made to allow a party leader to remove individuals who cause trouble for the party as a whole. Abusing that power falls along the lines of threatening/kicking because:
-PL begged and didn't get what he/she wanted.
-PL left party unlocked and can't be bothered to lock.
-You look funny.
-Your gear annoys me (with the victim not actually having done anything at all to give that assumption)
-etc.
IMO, this kick was justified. You joined a random party, you should be prepared to see other playstyles. Party wasn't locked because they didn't mind other players joining, you can't tell them they're just asking for trouble that way, not all random players are bad, but it sucks if you get stuck with whiners.
Commenting on the use of words in a particular way= Dude, why?
I'd be mad if for some reason it was a habit of mine to replace describing offensive words with 'fudgecakes' and someone told me to go play CP or something. It's the way I speak (I don't actually do that) and whining about it for no particular reason is close, but not quite, discrimination IMO.
TL;DR: Random Party member giving you crud about your whatever thing they don't like is just ground for a kick. If he suggested they get a sword, then argued it was because they did more damage and didn't say it was because bombs/guns were inferior, but was kicked anyway, THAT would be unjust.
That's why I usually play solo when none of my guildmates/friends are online.
To avoid those random swordies knocking back enemies and doing silly stuff.
Swords are useful, that's for sure. I have Proto Sword and always equip it if there's Wolver Den or Lichenous Lair ahead because swords are ideal for shrub cutting.
I love the smell of gunsmoke in the morning..... it smells like victory!
DISCLAIMER: I'm a swordsman, primarily, who dabbles in guns a bit.
There is NOTHING wrong with a gunner. Gunners often even out-damage swordsmen, they can snipe targets, and they have better survivability. I've even seen people turn others away from shadow lairs because "they need swords to do real damage". Its ludicrous. I know several gunners that compete with me heavily for damage.
The only problem with gunning gear at this point, in my opinion, is the fact that it doesn't have status resistances - otherwise, gunners are not underpowered at all.
Thank you for the replies, a lot of the posts have been very insightful -- both the pros and cons.
Despite my small loadout options, as of current, I have been wanting to expand and get a lot of variety with my items. I have "ok" options right now, but I would like more. :)

(Not to make this suddenly about arsenals and loadouts) Focusing on my items that need upgrades and future items to add, I have been looking at maybe getting a freezing weapon. I was considering that shivermist bomb line, which I hear is really awesome for FSC.
@ Topic of shooting wolvers and such
As a gunner I found the best method of shooting wolvers is to take a needleshot or strike needle and run up to them point blank. They seem to take almost all of it if the gun is next to them and two rounds kill them surprisingly fast.
I think there's a good way to deal with devilites by using a slower, single-shot gun. Personally the magnus line seems to cause them to flinch a lot instead of dart everywhere. They are normally evasive, though.
Iron slug seems pretty good all around. People are kind of upset that it loses its piercing and the ability to paralyze, but it really makes enemies flinch, including tier-3 gremlins. I found this to be a better gun for healers, sometimes if I follow a healer close and time the shots it disrupts all its casting. Unfortunately I haven't found an affective way to deal with the bubble. Well-timed shots from the iron slug also make the turrets flinch so if only one turret is firing you may be able to stop the projectiles.
I personally avoided the polaris because everyone is using it and I was kind of bored seeing it. I think with my second night now is the perfect time to experiment so I'm getting a catalyzer, a couple alchemers, the iron slug is something I already have, and the strike needle. I'll probably try more guns in the future but the polaris is not very high on my list.
That's not possible. I killed him a long time ago. And his head is in my room. And his arm is in China. And his other arm is six feet under in the bilge. And his leg- wait, that's secret.
Your argument is invalid.
