Again, big picture. How many people do you know that comprise their team entirely of fighting types, or make sure each an every Pokemon knows Earthquake? A flying or psychic can handle that. For everything else, there's Aggron.
Also, head smash with STAB and without recoil.
But that aside, my actual favorite would have to be Heracross.

Aggron appears small in size. Did you not know this? Perhaps you didn't read your pokedex carefully enough, or do not play enough Pokemon Colisseum / Gale of Darkness. They have actual sizes of Aggron. Aggron is punier than you think.
He is a little under 7 feet tall, and weighs about a third of a ton according to the pokedex...
Unimpressed.
I will not reveal my favorite yet!
Edit: Heracross is bug fighting dual type, but appears to act like some joe shmoe fighting type minus the not exactly helpful defenses due to type. This is because it takes forever for it to learn Megahorn.
Once it learns megahorn (its signature move), it still has to deal with 85% accuracy.

But I like that generation you are in! Generation 2, or heartgold / soul silver which is currently the best of the pokemon games by far based on rating, is the only generation / game that I can play anymore.

Charizard!
Charizard is my favorite starter pokemon! At the Aggron comments, Aggron is pretty awesome if it doesn't die in 1 shot. But the metagame is full of fighting, water, and pokemon who knows Earthquake.

Since when do you need a fighting type to use Close Combat? And for that matter, why do you need all of your pokemon to be fighting type or have all of them know Earthquake? Plus, you were talking about the frequence with which one encounters these moves, and both CC and EQ are pretty common.
I don't hate Aggron, but trying to get one into battle is an almost impossible feat.

Aggron is weak to fighting and ground. With 180 base def and decent HP to boot, if the other poke doesn't have STAB he'll probably survive a super hit, even from CC or EQ (and that's where Metal Burst comes in). If the other poke does have STAB on one of those two, then you use something other than Aggron. You gotta learn how to use some of the non-overused pokemon; with resistances to Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Ghost, Psycic, Ice, Dragon, Dark, and Poison, there's a lot he can do to stop common strategies.
Alternatively if you opt for a Sturdy Aggron instead of one with Rock Head, Metal Burst can OHKO anything that tries to use CC or EQ (seeing as Sturdy prevents OHKOs from full health).
It also seems that you missed the entire point of my original post. It was meant to be funny, not incite pokerage. And again, see my note to The-Rawrcake

Dragonite was awesome in the old games.
Not quite as OP as Hypno for the very first games in power just due to the unmatched Psychic type back then and very early accessibility... which was luckily fixed with making psychic bad against more types in the later games other than itself.
Not to mention sleep status being overpowered in red and blue which Hypno can take advantage of (nightmares from fighting butterfree with a flippin charmeleon if I did not get first hit off. It was basically turn the game off and maybe next time).
Even now with the remade versions of silver and gold, it is just instinct to get that Hypno for me ><

Salamence - Cause I LOVE dragons.
And they were much more kick-butt than Dragonite, they look much more fierce.
Too bad I kinda gave up with the series(Got bored of it.:(), especially since that Hydreigon looked pretty sweet. Not to mention Dark and Dragon looks a neat combo too.

Shadow Lugia from XD-Gale of Darkness was pretty freakin' epic, Charizard was my first fave and I still have a soft spot for him, and just about every dragon pokemon would come close but in the end I think I have to go with Scyther. No where near being the best but a praying mantis with scimitars for arms is just way too awesome to pass up XD

It was something like Arcanine.......I think.
I also loved all the dragon ones.

Red version: Charizard/Hunter
Gold version: Gengar(never got)/Larvitar/Sandslash (he just looked awesome)
