Van is too pro. After he gets over puberty that is, he was less pro before that. He only won his first battles because Zeke was with him.
IMO, Fuzors wreaked it. I saw an episode where they couldn't even get the video/audio sync right. The dude got blown off his feet and he screamed a second later.

With regards to starters:
Gen I - Charmander because Charizard is epic.
Gen II - Totodile, although Cyndaquil's evolution is superior... but all of them are pretty fail.
Gen III - Treecko
Gen IV - Piplup
Gen V - Smugleaf, because Jalorda has one of the most epic stat-boosting moves out there.
With regards to other stuff:
Volcarona, Gallade and Lucario.

Any of you remember or currently have shiny pokemon?
Do they even do that anymore? I had a shiny Slugma (the orange lava thing right?)
