Hetero

I recently made some posts in the http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/41975 thread which some cowardly mod keeps deleting, and I am quite sure though the views I expressed were possibly unpopular to some they were well within the guidelines of the forum rules. I find it odd that Spiral Knights and Sega think that A. this is an appropriate topic for the forums of a video game designed for kids. Adults do in fact play but the majority of the user base is minors. and B. that if they do in fact believe this is an appropriate topic that they should moderate down any opposing viewpoints without explanation or notice. So I would like some official clarification on what exactly I can or can not post in regards to topics which are obviously hot button issues for some but which I will not be abstaining from commenting on should they be allowed to exist on these forums.

Tnx xoxo

No. The forums is not a free-speech place, and some viewpoints can be intolerant and bigoted. I do believe that the mods are better in the interest in enforcing TOLERANCE than people expressing their "views" (see: bigotry).

If you're one of those types who believes that transgenderism is an inappropriate topic for kids, I can already imagine that your views expressed in that thread was transphobic to some extent. Since people are aware of their gender identity at a VERY young age, I think it's alright for children to know about transgenders, and it's a flimsy excuse to discriminate against transgender people and try to cover up their existence by saying the mere topic is inappropriate.

This game was not made for kids. It was made for an audience of 13 and up anyways.

There are some subject matters that would be inappropriate for a gaming forum, but things like transgenderism isn't one, IMO. It's something that's natural and a part of humanity, and civil, frank discussions on the topic isn't something that kids has to be sheltered from. I deliberately kept away from that thread because I don't feel that I know enough about the issue to speak about it, and so I have no idea what your comments entailed. However, if what you said contain discrimination or phobic speech, I don't think that it's at all 'cowardly' for a mod to delete your posts (as I said, I have no idea what the comments are, so if you're merely expressing an alternative view on something someone else said, then it's another story).

It boils down to this, I believe: you have your freedom of speech, as long as what you're saying is suited for audience as young as 13, and that it contains no bigotry.

'I am quite sure though the views I expressed were possibly unpopular'

I've seen only your first post yesterday, so can't discuss others, but the one I've read wasn't just unpopular. It was offensive.

'a video game designed for kids.'

As it has been mentioned before, this game has been designed for 13+ (so we're talking about teenagers)
And gender related topics are appropriate for teenagers - actually I believe it's one of the most important topics when one is a teenager.

I saw your comment (which was deleted). Frankly, it was downright ignorant and transphobic; the mods did the right thing in removing it. When people start abusing a public forum to spread hatred, that's crossing the line.

As if beating the dead horse to a pulp wasn't enough, now you insist on running it over with an SUV repeatedly and destroying it with corrosive acids and bases.

Your initial attempt at trolling the thread was transparent at best, and dragging this out with this turd topic is like watching someone's hand getting sawed off in slow-motion. Just stop.

There's no need for official

There's no need for official clarification, it's pretty obvious:
A. It's perfectly alright to have a mature discussion about tg/ts.
B. It's not alright to ruin a perfectly good discussion with intolerant hate-speech.

And the reason you're intolerant now is that someone deemed the subject 'inappropriate' for you at some point.

I posted a comment early in that thread about people coming and derailing, and it took you a long time to finally get around to it. Eury specifically pointed out to me that she'll deal with haters on a case-by-case basis, which apparently she did with you.

Look, we get it. Your tag is Hetero. You're a red-blooded heterosexual man with no gayness or any funny business or however you think about it. Anyone with an ounce of permissiveness on the subject of gender is going to give you a wide berth as you're in essence advertising your homo-trans-etc. phobia with your name. Accept the fact that OOO is based in one of the most gender/sexually liberated centers of the USA, and deal with it by posting in whatever hate group forum you're in and leave it out of here.

The participants in the discussion were talking about an NPC in the game and what gender it might be. The discussion was civil and, except for a few stray posts which I dealt with, did not break any of the forum guidelines. Thus, it stayed.
