1) You can buy TF2 Keys @ 1.5$ [ for example, that's the price I sell TF2 Keys ]
2) You can sell TF2 Keys @ 1200 CE [ for example, that's the price I buy TF2 Keys, with CE converted in Crowns ]

3) 1200 CE / 1.5 $ = 800 CE/$

That's the only true value of CE, if you buy any less than 800 CE with 1 $, you are doing it wrong.
You can reach easily 1000 CE/$ with bulk buys and sells of TF2 Keys and refined. Be smart!

I have been contacted by some

I have been contacted by some people who don't understand CE value.
I'll try to make some points to clarify it, because i'm bored to write the very same things multiple times both in game and over steam:

1) When CE is bought, there are different packs, deals and so on, which increase CE gained per dollar paid -> CE "$ value" decrease
2) CE is obtainable in-game simply by playing -> CE "$ value" decrease
3) People with elevator pass can farm as many crowns as they want, and get as many CE they need -> CE "$ value" decrease
4) Via trading even more CE is obtainable -> CE "$ value" decrease
5) Nor me, nor you, is Steam/Valve or OOO.
a) Because you are not either one, there is no reason for me to pay with cash and get the very same deal that they do. If I want to get 350 CE for each dollar spent, I'll buy from them, not from you. And with right timing, I can get even better deals.
b) Because i'm not either one, this means that I have to buy from them with my cash, and then resell to you. If there is no incentive in this, why should I do it? I need to take into account the real-equivalent cash value of CE, and I choose a value wich makes me feel it is worth to pay real cash to buy a game, to trade for your virtual CE

You see, I come from the Team Fortress 2 market, where all this ( adapted for that game of course ) is well known and accepted.
The main example, are keys: in store, they are 2.49$.
Market value is instead 1.4$-1.5$,
because there are various factors wich decrease their value ( i.e. keys too are obtainable not from the store but via trading i.e. for refined metal ).
So, when trading for games, no one pretends to pay a 25$ game with 10 keys, but market value is used, and more keys are paid.

By reading this, there are enough reasons to change point of view.
It is not true that 425 CE = 1$, nor that a 9.99$ game is 500-1k CE, nor that the new (discounted) 4$ mission is 1400 ce, expecially when the CE that would be used to pay the game/DLC, is obtained by not paying even 1 cent to OOO.
After all, there is no way to sell CE back to OOO and get cash, and this alone can bring a big inflation to CE value.

Round-Shinigami: I can offer discounts for multiple purchases. But farcry 2 is 20$, not 10$, so in that particular case it's 8kce/20 = 400 CE/$
However, there are some games with worst deals than others: those are the ones wich I don't have a copy in my library, and I can wake up one day and i'll unlock them myself. Until then, I still leave a chance for others to get those games out of my hands, if they want it more than me.

I actually buy refined at 360 ce each, and their value is 0.5$. So I think a good incentive to buy new games upon request ( this means, invest more cash ) would be at least 800 CE/$. For lower offers, I just prefer to keep my cash.

The games I already have, is money I already spent, so I offer a better deal to recover at least a part of what I paid
