title says it all really. and yes i know polaris can be used to break the wheels down the side but i can do just the same with my voltedge. Also i use a gun damage Med trinket. any ideas?
FSC: Polaris or Argent Peacemaker?
This thread is talking about AP vs Nova Driver & might interest you:

I dropped my Polaris like a bad habit as soon as my AP magically became not-just-a-box-buster. The Polaris is great if used as a tool and not a primary weapon. There are few things I hate in SK more than running with somebody that things the Polaris is a great primary weapon. It breaks up mobs, & sends shocked monsters flying in all directions that can hit players and transfer that lovely shock.
The AP is weaker per shot but when you factor in the DPS of being able to:
Shoot, Shoot, Shoot, Shoot, Shoot, shield cancel, Shoot, Shoot, Shoot, Shoot, Shoot
vs
Shoot, Shoot, shield cancel, Shoot, Shoot,
It will more then make up for have less damage per shot. The AP also has a much smaller more controlled knockback & does full damage at close range (unlike the Polaris). You can still take out wheels with the AP also. The only downside I can think of would be the Polaris might be better for the gunpuppy room as the shock attack interrupts, but I have not tested the new AP out here yet to see if it can get a clean kill before the puppy fires.
@BSOD "transfer that lovely shock." Do you have actual evidence or first-hand experience about that ? Because apart from Mecha knight shocking (which is a special "skill" of them called Malfunction), I don't recall seeing that clearly ever. Seems like a myth born from the Mecha knights skills to me.
Anyway, if you are looking into a gun for damage, now it's AP for ease of use or an Alchemer for higher aoe damage (with ricochet).
Polaris is now only a utility weapon. I see very few reasons to use it, one would be to silence turrets in Shadow Lair (because outside, I find it too easy to avoid their projectiles to need that gun). And as BSOD said, using it as a primary weapon is a way to get hated in a party. It's only second to Nitronome, the so-called Blue Screen of Death (hint : not for the mobs).
OK Fradow I think you got me there. I had read somewhere that it was transferable, but I have never seen it happen while using my Voltedge. I used to repeatedly find my self shocked in non-shock themed maps due to flying enemies chucked at me by Polaris users, but that was a long time ago when I still played in PUGs from time to time. Looking back I bet those were flying Mecha Knights, but it happened to me just about every time I got stuck with a bad Polaris user. Still the point is the same that it is annoying as heck to get hit by flying enemies (who could be in the middle of attack animations).
Yeah I made this alt's name as a joke about the Nitronome and Polaris being like the infamous blue screen that computers often get when they crash.
with the things are now, i'd take the AP over the polaris (more dps, less interference with teammate). the polaris only outclass the AP in a small area (room with rocket puppy).
AP?
Assuming you are on a team with blitz users, neither gun is really that useful. I'm also sorta assuming you are primarily a sword user. I almost never think to myself "I wish I had a gun", except when fighting vana when I have nothing to do but stand to the side and water during phase 5. So, I would say AP for higher mobility, and less annoyance to teammates. I also think AP does better at vana, but I'm not sure.
The only argument (besides zombie knockback) for the polaris is the rocket puppy room, but that can easily be done with just a sword and nothing else.
