I would think Codename is somewhat less emotionally engaging, at least, until Part 2. Part 1 seems a bit fast-paced I think.
I USED to read a lot. Adventure and combat books all over the place, as well as Sci-fi.
Now, I've taken less of an interest. More or less run out of material to read really, although I try to keep my analytical ability up.
But really, most of my vocab came from my reading. Even now I'm still picking up words from random places, and archiving them away in my memory for future use.
For more action based inspiration, I use movies and fast-paced action cartoons and games (sometimes comics too). All those battle scenes I make entirely up. I have no actual training or whatever, I build those scenes from scratch.
Codename is almost as old as One is all it takes. That was my first fanfic ever, and I continued writing, starting with Codename. Don't be too disappointed when it's not all you cracked it up to be, I was fairly new to the fanfiction game when I wrote Part 1.
Well, I'm certainly glad to know that there is another adolescent out here in the world of Spiral Knights! I probably already knew that, but details like that go right past me on occasion...one of the many detrimental effects of being a teenager in the modern world. XD
I have no personal experience of weddings myself, unless you count the many receptions I ended up going to afterwards when I was younger. What I had meant more was, "I would be interested to know how you depicted their relationship and it's growth." When I create characters (which happens so very little - I have the select few that I like to enjoy!), I can often picture their whole past...which seems to grow and evolve as the stories I write progress.
I think it is good that you are always striving to be a good writer, and to have very consistent writing and fluency. I have trouble myself balancing out just exactly how to be able to take compliments on my writing and remain humble afterwards; sometimes I take it a bit too far and begin to degrade my capabilities too, and then my friends and family let me know that I shouldn't be doing that either. It's hard work, to be able to accept that you are a good writer with great writing, but continue to strive to grow and achieve better writing...especially when it comes to high school, where everyone is learning at their his or her own speed and development.
That's why I read books in my free time, and I'm guessing you probably do a lot of reading too...we look for our best ideas in other novels, and we also look up to those authors for inspiration and encouragement. By reading, we are also able to better see what techniques are good to use - of course, that is if we are able to stay involved with the book without getting too enthralled by the story itself.
I am going to be very excited to read Codename a bit - I haven't seen much of it lately, but I know that I'll enjoy it based off of this. I'll be sure to spend some time devoted to that.
