Those combinations are very deadly. Kats destroy your maneuverability (bullets and lunging), greavers say you have to attack now (and thus cannot block), and then devilites send in flying foreign objects. When you solo, you have all their undivided attention in a small room.
That's the problem I'm facing. I'm okay with the kats and the greavers, but the devilites are giving the most problems.
It's easier to dodge while at polaris ranges, but closer to medium-ish range (say, 5* brandish blast range) any last-minute shielding would be useless (I'm playing from an area where lumber point-blank attacks will ignore last-minute shielding).
Tried figuring out a pattern to waltz in close to one, but that's only useful when I'm facing a lone devilite.
Probably relevant that I currently don't have a shadow set, but I keep getting hit outside shielding times, which means not even a good shadow set would save me. Any tips?
Hm... No, I'd argue that it still comes down to strategy and gear, in whatever case.
For instance, if it's a smaller room, it's easier to reach them and bunch them together. Spikes are easy to avoid if you're paying attention.
If it's a mix of monsters, I usually just prioritize. Say it's spookats and devilites, for instance, like in the mission "The Return of Ur". I'll go after the devilites first because I don't have much trouble dodging the spookats' bite attacks or their slow-moving projectiles. I keep my guard up and watch for an opening in tight situations - for instance, overtimers are most vulnerable after they have finished strafing and taken a swing at a knight. Plus, I rely heavily on shield bumping to make sure I don't get too crowded. And any time you're soloing, it's important to play defensively.
