I was just wondering what music you guys would suggest listening to while playing Spiral Knights. I guess I`ll start this off with my list. I would suggest: 1. Trapt - Contagious 2. Three Days Grace - Animal I`ve Become 3. Cocteau Twins - Alice (such a wonderful song) 4. Garbage - Parade 5. Alien Ant Farm - Courage 6. Anti Flag - This Is The End Aaaaand 7. Cold War Kids - Hang Me Up To Dry. I would`ve made the list longer but I wanted to keep it short. Enjoy ~ (:
What Would You Suggest Listening to While Playing?
I couldn`t remeber the really good ones so I just put those. Oh I would like to add Linkin Park - Blackout and Jia Peng Fang - Cherry Blossom
Why would you listen to other music while playing this game? Spiral Knights has some of the most wonderful music ever composed for a video game?
I actually like the in-game music for the most part. However, individual song choice is a preference.
I usually listen to anime battle music (such as B13A or "Tsuna's Theme")
Try the soundtrack to the Pirates of the Caribbean or LotR if you're in the mood for something epic.
Hans Zimmer (King Arthur OST) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYWO84GUIg8 really good stuff
Music from The Ocarina of Time.
I don't know how you could possibly get bored of the in-game music, though.

oooo SOO CALM
^_^
there is nothing wrong with the in game music I just listen to something else from time to time, is all.
Secret of Mana (SNES) has the best music ever composed for a video game ever.
However, I will say from personal experience that the Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 soundtrack goes well over almost anything, even the game that previously held my record for best OST. I'd recommend particular tracks, but when I tried writing a list it got too long, even if I limited myself to ambient or action tracks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcEduzQi0Q8 very good, and actiony.
More than likely I've just given the topic its last Callahan shot.
I'd personally recommend certain music from the Megaman Battle Network series (The WWW Area Theme from 2 is SO fitting when you're on a tough mission, or lord forbid, a shadow lair.)
Ys VI OST
edit: ok, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzfodAERwuU
I'd say Merzbow, its rather very fitting.
I listen to the in-game soundtrack. However, I listen to it with the actual in-game music muted and the mix of the in-game music playing on iTunes. Yo dawg, I heard you like the music in this game...
In the unlikely event that I'm not feelin' the knightly tunes, I do what I always do and listen to Stan Rogers, because he has a gorgeous voice that makes me melty in a totally-still-masculine wish-I-could-sing-like-that way. I mean, listen to that. Or this if you're into sea shanties (and I know you are!).
Saosin - I Can Tell
Sienna Skies - To All Aspiring
Emarosa - The Past Should Stay Dead
Circa Survive - The Most Dangerous Commercials
Secret & Whisper - Warrior
Saosin - On My Own
Circa Survive - Glass Arrows
SOAD music fits in fine.
try listening Toxicity fighting a toxilargo, or on those other zombie/slime poison levels.
try Revenga, or maybe I-E-A-I-A-O when against vanaduke.
Radio/Video, maybe, when against the twins.
only for snarby and fsc

the rest either the ingame music or queen :P
I don't think there's any music especially suited for playing Spiral Knights (except, you know, the actual in-game soundtrack). People will just list their own favourite music...
silence is awesome sometimes, altho u can hear ur surroundings
then again music is too time consuming if u dont have it in the background to some random activity
Lots of Gorillaz songs go well imo.
Stayen Alive by the Bee Gees lawl
Ennio Morricone soundtrack stuff (esp for gunslingers)
Wu-Tang clan can pump me up like no other at times too
The Protomen
Nujabes (R.I.P)
~Luke
(Even though Mother 3 has already been posted) I've been using Earthbound a lot recently, with a little bit of Blazblue for Lockdown fun.
Trigun for when I feel like getting the guns out. (Hooray volcanic priest buffs!)
Bastion is still the perfect Snarbs music, Although I am leaning towards this for Vanaduke.
Loving this as general being awesome music.
Also Frost*.
If you want a dramatic music playing while fighting vanaduke or the Silent Legion boss, then this is what I'd recommend.
Requiem for a Dream - Clint Mansell
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSY4Yi2ypno
Hanging - Craig Armstrong

Other songs which would apply to different situations:
If Ya Wanna - The Vaccines
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQKjI6395iU&ob=av2e
Pumped Up Kicks - Foster the People (Even though the meaning behind this is sad - it's an awesome song.)

And some truly inspirational music:
Just a Dream - (Cover by Sam Tsui, Christina Grimmie and Kurt Schneider - all rights to them)
Instrumental (Epic) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QF1FPPS1S7k
Actual Cover - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2RA0vsZXf8
:-)
For Vanaduke Level i use: StarFox 64: Boss battle Theme 2
I wish some of my friend could say "Enemy Shield Analyzed" and show me vanaduke health :c
if i have to spent lot of time on haven either i use Kakariko Village (from Ocarina of time) or Thorntail Hallow (from Starfox Adventures).
For minor boss battles i use: Maverick Boss Battle (Megaman X) Mid Boss theme (ocarina of time) or Into de dark night (Dawn of Sorrow - Castlevania)
idk i have a long list of playlist for some parts in the game. i constantly change the musics with the time.
Portal 2 OST-Great ambient music and some great actiony-music (Reconstructing Science, Wheatley Science, Your Precious Moon)
The Wheatley Song-Just fun for running around Haven
Cave Jhonson Reconstructing Science Remix-Just great all-around music
Either it's the in-game muzak or Skrillex. Especially on slime-based levels, for some reason. "Devil's Den" is the official Vana run song
Super Mash Bros - really any of their 3 CDs...and since they're mash ups you can download them all for free off their website!
J.S.Bach, Orchestral Suite No.2 in b minor, BWV 1060 or so, bouree 1 & 2.
or badinerie. Playing those myself in real life now.
You fools! Just listen the game's own amazing soundtrack! You ungrateful people make me sick! Think of all the time Harry Mack put into composing this soundtrack for you, and you want to listen to lyrical music... Of all things! How does music with lyrics even match Spiral Knights!?... Arghh!!!
Haven file, slime file, battle_citadel file, citadel_action file, and that sky islands file that sounds like an 8-bit hippie on too much sugar.
All SK music files, that work for you, Haku?
GREMLIN CHATTER!
And also, none of those.
None at all.
I will suggest to you, nirvana, the white stripes, clutch and, foo fighters.
:edit for the addition of green day:
