Hi guys. I just realized, thanks to the new missions, that every team has a guardian. A guardian is someone who is a lanky tank that outputs heavy damage and at the same time able to absorb a lot of it. The drawback is that guardians are incredibly slow, so what they lack in speed, they make up for in strength. However, thanks to the imbalance of armors, guardians are impossible in SK. So, here is my idea of what a guardian should be and should have:
1) High resistance to damage:
This is achieved when guardians have a lot of defense, mainly normal defense and some other types.
1) Damage reduction ability:
This ability on the armor of the guardian will reduce ANY sort of incoming damage, whether they have resistance to that type of damage or not. This will make it so that Guardians will have a tanky feel to them.
2) High health:
This allows guardians to take a lot more punishment than lesser armored counterparts.
3) Slow Movement and Slow Attack Speed:
This is so that guardians are a bit more balanced, since they should prioritize strength more than speed. Guardians are expected to always wield large weapons so that they can peel off unwanted attackers.
4) Powerful Shields:
This allows guardians to protect their teammates, hence the name "Guardian". They can perform better shield bumps so any attackers can be peeled off from their teammates.
Certain fine armors in the game would make one have a guardian feel if these ideas were to be put into practice. I am well aware that some of these ideas may already be in there, but for some armor sets, here are some of my ideas:
1) Plate Sets: This set MUST have the damage reduction ability. I feel that their attack speed debuff is pretty punishing already, but I see knights who have these armors equipped dying way too fast. In addition, they should have decent armor, which they already do.
2) Cobalt Sets: This set Must have an increased health ability. This set particularly has nothing good to it, merely a mediocre armor. Increased health will increase this armor set's ability to take more punishment.
The point of a guardian is to be able to take more hits in return for dealing less/slower damage. But, is Sk really that hard of a game? If I go glass cannon skolver, asi trinket, and a swiftstrike, I can handle most floors. Not many people enjoy being forced to kill things slow. If they made a choice to use slower/weaker weapons, they had a choice. But this isn't giving them a choice, simply because they want to wear the armour.
Points 1,1, and 2 are classic tank, and would be extremely powerful. But again, nobody wants to suffer the penalty of being slow, which is in point 3. It has been proven that in most cases, a fast sword will out dps a heavy. And if you take off the penalty, it will be overused as a heavy defence with no drawbacks.
Anything that uses your shield to protect teammates is an iffy idea. Pugs could waste your shield, or not utilize it well. Sure, in guild/friends, it would work well. But then again, if you were swinging instead of shielding, that enemy out there will die faster.
