Sooooo.... Am I the only one that is embarrassed to be playing Spiral Knights due to the extreme [ lameness (expression of true feelings would violate TOS) ] of the anniversary event?

Seriously, if it were not for the huge amount of time I have invested in this game I would probably just quit on principle...

Seriously hope & pray (to whatever dark gods will listen) that none of my non-SK friends notice this event (then I noticed the Steam advertisement, doh!!!).

The Halloween Event was fun & the masks were neat, but this cake stuff is [ censored ].

ps- the cake is a lie (ohh if this thing was a portal cross-over instead, that would have been fun).

pps- Why do we suddenly have a chef?! We don't seem to have mouths (& we get a good clear look at the chef's non-mouth).

It is less than what i expected

Frankly, the accessories that were released, with the exception of the sprinkle aura, do nothing for me. I don't want to do the cake hunting, and yeah, its really just another day for me. It's a shame, because i was really quite excited by the thought of something awesome.

I agree with the OP. I was really excited to see what kind of cool looking stuff or changes would be released on the Anniversary. I was not expecting some kind of awkward birthday celebration.

To me, the 40% discount on CE and the Valkyrie Wings were much better promotions and had nothing to do with the anniversary. I really expected the anniversary to have the best promotion, and I've been completely let down.

Oh well... Diablo 3 releases in less than a month... so I'll just save my hopes for that, I suppose.

TBH this was a real

TBH this was a real dissapointment for me. they keep this like it would be awesome, but instead it just was something really sad.while going to the clockworks in hope for a Cake nest its nice (because it reminds me about halloween event) i was expeting something umm more "fitting for the anniversary" of course its nice having cakes and all but.... isnt enough. but well its my opinion

Prolly the prestige mission could have more variety but well i guess is their first Anniversary. but anyways the other events looked more funny than this one. as like the other... even the CE Promo isnt something that dont call me to buy. Dragon and valkyrie wings looked more interesting that the actual CE Promo.

guess i hope the next year have something more "interesting" and worthy for a second anniversary than this first one :/

All the new accessories are just 34 ways of ridiculing your gear more than any other accessory could. Also really boring, nothing special at all.

The cupcake hats are all the same, just recolored. ...also really boring, nothing special at all.

Putting it on the $9.95 pack, with no sale or discount.

Cake enemies are just reskins of jellies.

None of the accessories interest me, but the actual Frosted Helm or whatever is cute.

That said, I absolutely hate cupcakes, and ever since Portal came out, the word "cake" has just inspired feelings of hatred and sorrow toward the internet, because things that aren't funny to begin with somehow end up being perpetuated endlessly to the point of nausea regarding the actual food.

I would've preferred accessories that didn't look stupid.

To be entirely honest, this event would've been incomparably awesome if we'd gotten Biscotti's chef armor, instead of the garbage we got.

Not really a fan of the whole cake theme either tbh... I was tempted to go for the prismatic one, but when I previewed it, I just couldn't see it looking decent with anything. I wish there was a /meh emote, because it would perfectly express my feelings toward cake. Too much cake on teh interwebz.

@BSOD: Urge to uninstall rising over a single celebration event? That's not normal. If you weren't having fun playing beforehand and this was the last straw, fine. Otherwise, if you enjoy the game like I do, you'll get over it and play the entertaining parts of the game you find to be worth your time :P

Yep, I already expressed my disagree with this event in another topic, all possible potential was somewhat wasted in a 5-day Halloween esque event. Of course I am doing it, because I can get something for free this time and, well, is fun anyway... also I hope we can see this chef guy again, remains around selling things like foodstuff that gives buffs or something, and maybe even get a crazy cooking-monster-dungeon for himself. I am not against it, just disappointed. Also, as other people have said, we reached 1st anniversary by having that premise in the game preview broken: "100% free to play". I really, really hope that the non-Steam expansion mission trade client is done before the event ends...

My feedback to them: Cut the price for buying CE in half (as in paying with real money) and then have,say 2-3 pages full on the featured auctions after taking a vote on the forums and in game asking what accessories or costumes the players would like.

Huge CE supply, more trade with the mass amount of stuff in the Featured Auctions that people want.

Maybe a Chapeau of the Rose Regalia or two just for lulz :D

As for the topic at hand:
I don't much care for this whole thing, but I don't mind it either. Though I'd totally trade things like this for more permanent updates. Like oh, say, a new Clockworks boss.

And this game is CLEARLY meant to be taken super seriously, there's no trace of humor or whimsical content whatsoever. Jokes? Light humor? Never heard of them! Heavens FORBID that OOO does something silly and playful to celebrate this game's existence not going down the toilet! Heavens forbid that our friends judge and slander us based upon a temporary event done by a small gaming company! (Which if that's the case, what kind of friends are they?) We must all make a stand and delete our knights, uninstall the client, and never log in to the website again!

My issue with this CE promo

My issue with this CE promo is the fact that it manages to hit the sweet spot of both over saturation and over specialization.

Over saturation in the fact that they ask you to put 10 dollars down to try and get one of thirty four items. THIRTY FOUR. It would be like if they combined wings, dragon wings and valkyrie wings all in the same promotion, people would have a fit.

Second is over specialization, while these accessories look good now, I doubt people will think that a month down the road. It's because it's only for a single event (Well 2 since you can use them for New Years), but still it's not an all purpose accessory like the previous promos.

To many at once and the fact that outside of the birthday even the accessories look out of place really do a number on this promotion.

Yes its true, the clockworks are populated again. But people find the cake and leave never to be seen again. They arent in it for the arcade aspect.

And what happens on Apirl 11th when this is all removed? Were right back to square one. King of Ashes Grinding.

Personally im not a fan of this either. I was expecting something a bit...bigger. Not just a reskin of the punkin king event. Im disappointed, but for now it wont stop me from playing the game.

You can get the stuff for free by buying it off others, not even care and bypass the whole thing, or just stop playing or the exact opposite of that and participate in the event. I think OOO gets it by now, that a bunch of people are raging at cake. Come on guys, this game just started, and they're not going to unload your wishes of a game. Sure there is a lack of fully F2P events out there, but doesn't OOO also need money? If it is going to be through Promos, it is going to be through Promos, but there have been a lot more updates lately (or is it just me?) due to these types of events. We may need a break from these though... xD

I hate this update, because it lacks imagination. I mean, the october one was fun. We enjoyed it, because it was a NEW IDEA, with cool masks. I feel like this lacks any maturity. I knew it was meant in a well meaning way. I knew the devs were trying at some light hearted fun. But this? This is ***! Urrrgh, it makes me feel ashamed of myself. This is a celebration, this game came out 1 year ago and what is more aproprait than a birthday cake event? All references to portal i'm sure are all player baised(did not really read anything about promo so i honestly don't know for fact and even if there is, so what you can't even take one more that won't be around for even a week?). I'll admit this is not my favorite event but suck it up and wait for it to end. I'm sure most of you have other things to do untill this is over. Is this thread really nessesary? You guys are complaining just to complain. Some of you are making suggestions on how it could have gone better but alot of you are just saying this is stupid and i don't like it. This is general discussion not I'm gonna complain about what i don't like and do nothing about it except complain. If you don't like something type what you think would have, in your opinion, been better and help them come up with something that the comunity would like for next time. How many directions could this have gone? We get great promos all-year round and just because they decide to go with the theme and it happens to be dull we bash them for it? OOO does alot for us and just because we don't like an event doesn't give us the right to complain. Alot of you probably would not be complaining if they didn't do this kinda stuff regularly.

Well, for me the actual event is very bad. What three of most hideous looking hats, and we have to do a lot of work to get em... Screw that... Also those reskins of those cakes are very bad, its like they dont belong to the actual platform or the level interior i dunno :S

The only fact i liked and got some use of it are prestige points i get doing cakeastrophie mission... 90 prestige points, not bad :/

Also we had 5E cost of elevators after the patch, was surprising and i really like that the most of this entire event.

Wow. Thank goodness it's only a costume or accessory that they're handing out. I think everyone would actually go into hysterics if an armor piece were attached to this event, whether it had decent stats or not.

I think it's great that the art team put a lot of work into this update. Biscotti, a cake-themed danger room, a level designed to look like a bakery gone mad, Creep Cakes, AND a bunch of new accessories? Everyone that complains about reskins does a serious disservice to the people that work hard to give us this game.

What were you all expecting, anyway?

As with all promotional events, you don't have to participate. Just wait a week and this event will be gone with the wind.

For a year the best place to farm was FSC... and that hasnt changed =(... no new bosses, DLC doesnt count its not challenging and is just tedious cause of the mortar teams ( love the stalkers tho) , there is also no reason to replay it more than 3 times. and SL was a great addition XD love it but also cant be replayed much due to costly entrance fee, which u have to share better 4 people, who all need to be free for 2hours, giving u about the same profit as FSC... so we are left to grind FSC for profit =(.... hoping that maybe... it would change on the anniversary... =(... and all i get is cake TT...

we need new T3 boss please XD and no more fire, and make it peirce i dont care if people complain there are other peirce bosses... peirce is so unessesary in T3 this will bring balance. also most important thing is MAKE IT FREE or atleast accessible by everyone somehow via CE or something because when i play spiral knights i want to play with everyone not just a selected few that paid... also tokens XD... and yea could rant more but to get to the point... this update has nothing in it for me =(...

TLDR: I WANT T3 BOSS WHY DID I GET CAKE

the actual avatars need more personalization, or at least ,In the storyline for instance some sort of comic mischief.

Also I do agree with some of you,, Cake.. Really?,, since our knights have no traces of real true full facial expressions , then this
