You really need to get your age checker up and running OOO, this is getting pathetic.

This little nooblet died 3 times in the first level, wasting all my health to revive him. Yes, I realize that we were on the second level when I took the screenshot, but I needed to get his name out of the chat first. I noticed that, in addition to dieing and wasting my health being revived by me then dieing again, he was grabbing all the health vials. He had two before I had even managed to get one. So, I asked him to stop taking the health vials because he was wasting them, and he said that if I complained again, he would use all the ones he had. I replied "whatever, but I'm not reviving you anymore", so he quickly used all of the vials he had and quit the game.

Then, I got this little gem from him: http://postimage.org/image/hhzt5vtpx/b23ee34a/

Yup.

This happens everywhere.

I was 12 when I joined, I was 13 near the end of summer.

It's sad how anyone with age restrictions can't enforce it.

There is not a helluva lot

There is not a helluva lot that OOO can do to prevent underagers from creating accounts. They lie to set up an account in the first place. TOS: "blah blah you must be 13 to play the game blah blah", do you accept the TOS? *clicks yes while 10*. The only alternative is to set up a page to create an account that makes you put in your birthday... and THAT will get lied on also.

*puts in real bday* we're sorry, but you are not old enough to create an account
FUUUUUUUUU!!! *puts in same age and knocks the birth date into the 1980s*

IMO the GMs should start banning based on immaturity. That's a pretty good indicator of underaged players.

age checking is impossible unless you actually see the user

Administrators obviously can't actually go investigate everyone who wants to make an account in the game, so there's completely no way to tell if someone's underage when he's making the account.

It could be done

Well they can add the option for you to leave some of your info, like personal ID or something ( we have them here in my country) and in return they can give you some items for free. So i believe that people will actually give info on themselves.

But in reality this is to far fetched and theres no way this can be done. Im just stating that its possible to check the players and their age :)

It's impossible to check somebody's real age without violating their information privacy in some way. Games/sites that ask you for extensive personal info in exchange for extra content usually turn out to be scams. I don't think OOO is the scamming type of company, but people would be suspicious all the same.

@ Metagenic

Yeah I know that its almost impossible to do, but maybe it could work the same way, as private information we have on steam, like credit card info. Ofcourse people would be distrustful, but if they add some major security systems, its doable I think.

Anyway im not good at computers so maybe what im suggesting is not even possible I dont know, just shared my thoughts.

Sadly, maturity doesn't necessarily come with age. I've seen people who are 16 or so do this kind of stuff and write even more incomprehensible garbage. If he admits that he's 10, maybe you could grab a screenshot and report him? Or just report him right away, I think I read somewhere that GMs can check the chat log from the last few minutes of your report.

I agree with many of the above comments. Things like this make me lose faith in humanity.

A 10 year old? Really? I mean, I've seen college-aged people act just as immature (occasionally worse, if you will believe it), but geez. Parents today. Do they not teach their children respect and general kindness anymore?
smh.

@Logopathos
What if they do, and you just don't realize it because their kids are so well behaved that you don't even realize you're playing with preteens?

If this indicent has so shaken your faith in humanity then whatever faith you had was probably misguided. People have always had the capacity for this kind of irrational behavior, the Internet just provides a place where they don't feel like they have to control themselves and can spew this kind of junk without fear of any consequence. It also provides a place for people to talk about it; this kind of incident is actually pretty rare, but nobody hops on the forums to complain about every time they meet a mature player who treats them with respect. (not that I'm blaming Aemicus for anything. That kid was a brat, and you deserve the opportunity to vent here)

TL;DR: News is just a report of something that happened, not an accurate reflection of the whole reality.

I have to agree with

I have to agree with Myllakka. You can't judge age with immaturity. Sure, most underage users do act like a "gangsta" and starts treating every sentence like a text message with l33t speak and curse words. (The horrifying fact is that the percentage of those like that is growing.) But I know lots of underage users that are civilized and have lots of teamwork. The reason I know that is because I used to be an underaged user. Once I got used to of the mechanics, I helped teammates (as long as they weren't a**holes,) and helped when I could. My other friends did the same and we received respect back. My other point is that there are also 20 year olds that are very immature and horrible ethics. This is why you can't judge someone's age based on immaturity (unless he admitted it).

@Jimbo-Jambo
This is very true.
I have played this game with younger players (based on what they've said) that have been rather mature, so I'm not trying to generalize. And it isn't simply this incident alone that shakes faith in humanity. There are a number of things, and lots of them don't have to do with video games or the internet at all. I was just reflecting the general disappointment shared by the other posters.

And you're right about the internet. Hooray for irrational behavior!
I guess I just expect, at the very least, cordiality from players even if they aren't necessarily "nice," because I personally haven't really done much to deserve "niceness" from them.
Sorry about the over-generalization there.

I think there are probably many underaged/immature players and the numbers are growing... the kongregate release contributes in no small way. (I play on kong, but a few users are immature). But the begging problem at least is in no way as bad as I remember it being in the early days of the launch.

heh

I remember when I played with an actual kid. It was a random group, and he had his mic on. We came to a candlestick level and he FREAKED OUT. The kid wouldn't stop crying throughout the entire level, but he actually held up pretty well despite filling the in game sound with screams of terror. We then heard his mom come in and tell him to stop playing, but then he started saying that he didn't want to get off. We tried talking to the mom directly through chat, but that didn't stick. He went right back to crying through the level and we finally finished it, but it was the most uncomfortable session I ever played.

Losing hope on everything

People like him make me lose hope on everything. Seriously though, he was very stupid, mostly because it was his fault, but then again it was anger that fueled his comment where he had much disrespect. Also, people like him is what makes me dislike society. I seriously can not believe that those people were right when they actually said those people exist. I think it's just best that people actually just, you know, try to actually mature these days. The only reason I do MY things is because I'm random like that. But, he/she had no excuse. And that's one of the reasons I hate nooblets.
