So you don't mean penalized, you mean insulted? Once they see your damage #s at the end they'll realize they're derps, whether they show it or not. My guild master does T3 LD in Dusker and scores 15k+ in most rounds, and guess what? At the start, some people who don't personally know him go "GTFO dusk nobb!". I run in Skolver with a FF/GF but I'm so bad I'm lucky to get >6k, but I have yet to be called a noob.

Derps will be derps, and they will always be a majority. Troll them or ignore them, if you try to reason with them you will never win.

Spot on. Play the game how you like to, end of story. If they call you a noob for not using wolver, take them out with your Suda and laugh in their face :P

Too many people depend on wolver lines + FF/BTB in LD for their insane stats, of course this causes other players to brag about how pro they are for using this combination which then passes off to even more people, flooding LD with Skolvers with FF, and for the players with low confidence, $100s on UV rolling for pierce max and two pentas to assure their safety just a bit longer. but nevertheless, wolver armors are just basic nowadays and more people want unique armors, for those who penalize you for the absence of wolver armor, they shouldn't care at all what armors YOU like and prefer because it is simply based on the power of choice, not a rule. and I've seen my share of people who get nearly 20k damage without wolver armor/toothpick sword combinations, wolver armors are more of a handicap at best in PvP.

In LD people use skolver in order to maximize their damage potential. Not using it doesn't make you suck (I've hit 10k with dragon scale armor, as a RECON) It may put you at a disadvantage (and make it easier for noobs to get high damage just from having that gear) but if you have skill (in lockdown) it won't make a difference to your performance.

Mainstream will be mainstream, but it's always best when Hipster shows them up. ;)

Costumes do not Show up, because it would be Un-Fair to the Other Team. how would you like it if you attacked a Circuit Breaker Wearer in T3 when It turns out they have 3 Max! UVs on all of their Stuff to Ambush you?

I run in my PVE gear (fallen set, trueshots, assortment of Divine Avenger/Gran Faust/Sudaruska/Triglav/Valiance/Storm Driver) and recon.

I'd rather try to play smart (capping near their base, bait-and-counter, using elemental/shadow instead of piercing for more damage on skolvers) than try to compete on the higher end with all the other strikers XD. Most of the time, I'll end with 3-5 caps and maybe 2-6k damage, but once in a while I'll hit 10-13k idkwhy.

Currently, I'm building an electron vortex for the sake of trolling. I don't know if people actually rag on you for not wearing wolver line, but nobody's ever complained about it to me. If anyone complains about me in-game it's usually because I shock them with my storm driver or annoy them when they're guardians. None of those have anything to do with wolver lol. Your weapons and skill (whether dancing around as a striker, capping/whatever as recon, or doing the guardian thing) are far more important.

You chose the hipster life, why are you complaining? If the gear you use now becomes effective as Wolver lines and became more widely used they would become mainstream and you'd throw a fit.

Wait...so is this about dmg in LD? If it is just ignore them, they don't have a vivid imagination. LD isn't just about damage points.

Have you ever tried something called dodging their attacks? Instead of trying to fight through their initial attacks, you could just... oh... idk... walk away? I play Recon, and all I gotta do is take a few steps back, cloak, and then sidestep their attempts to find me. Strikers can just boost backwards. Guardians just let the shield take the first hit, and then riposte, predicting where the attacker will twitch to next and greeting him with a jab between the ribs. It's never a good idea to try to tank through an enemy's attacks, and dealing with other players is no exception.

Speaking of which, other players practically can qualify as their own enemy type. You don't swing an Acheron at Zombies, then claim the Acheron is underpowered and you're being penalized for not using a DA. Right tool for the right job. Some weapons fall flat on their face when trying to deal with players (Like the Autogun Line for example).

Lockdown is not purely about skill. If you want a PVP game that is purely about skill, then go play Blast Network. As long as you can use your own equipment, Lockdown will never be purely about skill. Get used to it, stop complaining.

Also, Recon + lvl 10 Bomb = CTR Max for bomb. If you cant get a bomb down with CTR max, then stop blaming the game, and start learning how to bomb.

Someone just said to me a while ago to 'stop spamming that ****' w/c is a supernova, and I was not even spamming as much as they did spammed with their ''O so epic and powerful Polaris!'' And I've killed with it many times!
I found out about how people hate the 'unconventional' (I was actually expecting it!) in my first week of playing this game, I got used to it(and I always - always! - gets used to things pretty fast) so it's no big deal to me anymore, even though there are these moments when I just start to seethe in anger. And I always have this ominous company: lag. But I'm not complaining! I'm not complaining.

I've actually managed to encourage poeple to use slow swords in T2 ld once. And I've only seen like what, 2 people who use triglav in fsc! And in ld? Jesus Christ, it is intrinsically an unknown weapon in ld.

First of all, I'm a recon that uses swords and bombs. I don't play Striker, and cannot play Striker unless I'm gunning. Despite this, I can EASILY escape a Skolver coming after me with a toothpick.

Second, my argument about the right weapon in the right situation is not at plain as proper damage type vs proper armor. It's about a weapon that works in PvE vs a weapon that works in PvP. The weapon I gave as an example was the Autogun. People use a Blitz Needle to constantly flatten Vana, but at the same time, bring a Blitz into LD and you'll get flattened easily. A Magnus has a near 100% chance to hit a wolver or fiend, but against players it's dam near impossible to hit. Not every weapon that works in PvE works in PvP.

Thirdly, I can hold off dozens of Skolver Strikers with a Voltaic Tempest, which apparently is more than you can handle if you get flattened by a single Skolver. I don't even use bomber gear, just a lvl 10 bomb and a Recon cloak. That's all the "optimizing" I have ever needed.

And finally, don't accuse me of naivety. I've been in games against people like Exileddread, who are nothing more than a white blur across the screen, massacring an entire team. I've been in GvG matches against Jempire, where the entire game is spent hiding in spawn as white dogs mutilate anyone who takes a single step out of safety. I've been demolished via toothpick jabs, wielded by a skilled Skolver Striker. However, instead of ranting on the forums, I just learned to deal with it, and I've been better off ever since.

I'd like to see any player in this thread right now play a match of LD in subpar gear.

Yeah, I'd like to see someone get a respectable, 10K damage with only a Sudaruska and no piercing defense.

Then we'll see whose complaints and whose counters are justified.

I play as a recon all the time with my callahan and leviathan, and a miracle set. (huur hurr lol he's using a leviathan in LD he's stupid should have gotten a brandish).
Now, i mostly play BN but i do play LD at least 10 times a week. I almost never hear anyone calling other people out and calling them stupid for using equipment they don't approve of. But again, i don't play often. Something off the brandish line would have been better than a leviathan all around, but i only use it when i stun my enemies with my callahan, i do not use my swords charge. My play style works just fine with a leviathan. Shoot. Cloak. Shoot. Cloak. Oh look! He's stunned! And then i proceed to beat the ^&*$ out of the darned toothpikcer with my leviathan. Feeeels sooo good killing those toothpickers, there mere presence enrages me for some odd reason.
I cannot renember why i said all of the above, but oh well.
Now, on to dodging toothpickers. It's actually quite easy. Run around them in a circile. It's hard for them to turn while dashing with striker and the FF attacks send them forward. One time my cloak was borken and 2 toothpickers were locked on me, full attention on me, but i was able to encircile them until my cloak recahrged so i could get out of there.
Now, LD is defintly broken. I cannot understand why OOO does not see that. When 10 out of a 16 person game of LD are skolver/vog/snarby toothpickers, somethings wrong.

Callahan is actually better for PvP than PvE

It sounded like you were saying it was bad for PVP, saying it was almost impossible to hit a player with it, but whatever.

I keep getting called noob for wearing magic cloak and cobalt helm, even by those effing wolvers, not something slightly respectable like skolver or snarbolax
I used to use dusker, but i didnt like it because i used guns along with swords, and that line didnt do good

Don't worry about what others say, play the game how YOU want to play. That's the reason you play Spiral Knights anyways.

I myself used to use a generalist loadout (I'm shifting towards bomber now), and I was told not to use Wyvern Scale Helm + Sinister Skelly because there were no weapon specific bonuses on them. Most of the wolver clones you're talking about eventually end up using other things, because they get bored anyways.

Also, as for your lockdown issues:
I don't know if you can afford it, but maybe work towards the Chaos Set.
Pair that with two sword CTR:Med trinkets and your level 10 Suda, then go recon.
Use the shield charge technique with Suda's charge, and you can pop out of nowhere with a Suda Charge, then disappear.
Although I haven't tried it, it at least seems fun.

Also, I'm switching swords (from Winmillion) to the Troika line (Intending for Suda). Would you teach me the ways of the Sword of Ultimate Power?
