Well, as long as this game is 80% gear and 20% skill, the ones who are not informed well enough use aegis and rest will get BTS

Oh Boy...

One thing that's kind of annoying me here is the the 'laziness' argument, because I find it rather insulting just to say we, in general, are obtaining Aegis for just that reason. Yes, it takes less amount of work to obtain, but it doesn't mean laziness, and I've stated my reasons for obtaining Aegis over BTS, but I'll reiterated a bit again. I originally had my sights set on BTS, and seeing as how it was such a random chance to obtain, I also opted to grab Aegis if my the crowns I was saving reached a certain excess, as I still wanted a pierce shield in general. Could I, pre-mission patch, gone for an Ironmight? Perhaps, but it still would have been a chance like BTS.

And the funny thing is that BTS eventually lost all priority to me, because it really wasn't that big of a deal to me. I was just having too much fun crafting other little toys like the heavy Catalyzer and so on, and that's the thing: fun. I enjoyed crafting all the various equipment that I had a much larger interest in, and that's one of the joys of SK: is choosing what kind of gear to work on first given the wide range of equipment we have. There is a HUGE variety of options to choose from, and BTS is just one option; but it's certainly not a necessity; and I certainly don't need it to have fun and do well at the same time.

Also, Batabii, both BTS, Aegis and CoA have a different form of aesthetics, and who will like it is completely subjective; in other words, we all have different tastes in art. I for one like the Aegis purely for the kind of aesthetic appearance, but it certainly doesn't mean I admire the art done for the other two. To say that CoA looks 'better' such a way is rather rude, no offense meant.

I'm just saying, Aegis is

I'm just saying, Aegis is completely redundant. It's not a matter of "BTS is too hard to get, so until then I'll get Aegis". There's so many other, better shields you could get just as easily from hall of heroes. Granted, you will have to pay for the recipes, but at least it's a good investment that pays for itself in the long run instead of being a liability and a waste of CE. And yes, we already went over the "looks cool" theory, (in my case I got stone tortoise for Haven use) but you don't risk taking "pretty" shields to the core. You switch to your serious stuff. Most people I've met with Aegis seem completely oblivious to its mediocrity.

Maybe part of the reason I think Aegis looks bad is because it's so totally overused, like the cobalt set (which also has terrible stats compared to the alternatives).

Optimization is not a big

Optimization is not a big part of peoples' lives on SK. You're very ignorant if you can't respect other peoples' values. This thread is just you screaming "but my values are MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOURS" in the face of logical reasoning.

Wait...what? By that logic, you should also hate the way BTS looks, considering it's used twice as much as Aegis. Not to mention walking into any givin Haven and seeing he majority of players have a Wolver line armor on.

Honestly, I don't think you hate the Aegis for its looks at all. I think you hate it because you have the common mindset of "if it's not the best, it's not worth using."

@seregal... Yep

And what is this about ditching the shiny shield at haven? I take A Swift strike, of all things, Everywhere... even Shadow Lairs. An LIVE. I like the way it looks, and so I take it. ⌐.⌐

Look, There ARE differences, Post #10 Points them All out to you, those who choose, choose. As to you, No one cares for your Ideals, when you shove them up their @$$es.

tl;dr? See post #10

Regarding this...

"There's so many other, better shields you could get just as easily from hall of heroes. Granted, you will have to pay for the recipes, but at least it's a good investment that pays for itself in the long run instead of being a liability and a waste of CE."

Is it? Are the other pierce shields so better than Aegis that it's actually should be considered a good, long term investment? Honestly, this really depends on the player itself, and more over, many have already stated that many of the attributes that the other shields have over Aegis might be considered negligable to some. Even for me, the Medium sword damage boost is not that big of an issue, or that game changing for my style. Yeah, I use swords along with my bombs, but I don't feel it's either necessary or that huge of an investment, since I can STILL operate very well without. And like I've stated before, I have a lot of fun investing in other things, like the Neutrilizer that I just got *Giggles ensue*.

Like Tsu and Seregal of the other's stated, optimization is not a huge part of SK's people's live; most prefer to invest in FUN, which is fine. On a side note, my Aegis, which has no UVs, has served me well, and in fact, I've had my first Shadow Lair run yesterday in the form of Rabid Snarby. To my surprise, the Aegis held together more than I had anticipated, and it certainly saved my hide quite a couple of times; yeah, it broke once or twice, but only under lots of fire and when I chose not to dodge correctly. Dragon Scale or Dread Skelly could have served better due to their poison resist, yes, but it still overall worked, and I didn't die very much either.

Why are people still posting on this [cencored] thread?

Seriously?..

I think I will go make one just to wear around Haven for the soul purpose of bothering people.

Because...

People like to sometimes make a point, as do I. That said, I think I've said all that I've needed to say, and can't imagine what else I'd have to add.

@Seregal
Logic? Logic states that Aegis is a bad shield. Logic states that stats are far more important than looks.

@Ndogten
I don't see BTB nearly as often as Aegis. And wolver line armor has no relation to it. (BTW wolver is overused and ugly too). And I never said any shield was "best", just that Aegis is arguably worst.

@Tsubasa
No one cares for your egotistical pointless spammy self-quote when you shove it up our @$$es

@Obsidious
Yes, I think so, for anyone who's planning to keep playing for the long run and not quit the moment they reach the core the first time. Even if you don't focus on swords, there are so many other stat bonuses that are better than the meager sliver of extra damage the Aegis can take.
I don't really see the "fun" argument here. All shields behave the same. It makes more sense to me crafting something like the Wild Hunting Blade that actually animates or attacks differently for fun than another shield that's essentially a reskin (with different stats mind you).

Side note: while I think Wolver is ugly, at least you have the option of using a costume over it. That's what bugs me. Not that it's very popular statwise, but that so many people look like clones.

Nope. Lots of people (myself included) are more than willing to sacrifice stats for looks. This is a game. We want to fave fun. We have more fun while looking good.

You have got one small bubble there.

Well I'm just gonna sit here and watch the frenzy. It's kinda hilarious how you think your opinion overrides all else. Funny thing, personal choice.

Lies. I never trolled. And opinion doesn't change the FACT that aegis only has a very small health advantage while every other shield has (arguably far more useful) stat bonuses.

Yes, YOUR opinion doesnt change, which probably isnt worth anything to others. Some people just get things based solely on looks.

"(*arguably* far more useful)"

Yes, arguably. I agree entirely.

Personally, when someone else makes an *arguably* sub-optimal choice, I don't get all confused that they'd do so. Because it's, y'know, *arguable*.
