Me? personally I like ruins and rampart. I guess mostly because having 5 different bases creates more variety and less conflict so I can go around sneakly capturing without anyone coming to kill me before I succeed.

EDIT: I only love frostbite because of the snowballs. I have the worse lag in history of LD so yeh :P

P.s. If you think there should be a lockdown training hall, please support my other thread :)
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/51830
Also includes ideas for LD tutorials and what the waiting list should look like.

EDIT: 25.5.12

So do you like the new maps? What do you like and don't like about them?

I really love Forest. I find the map design aesthetically pleasing, with the softer greens and all, as opposed to something like Frostbite. I like the fact that it's small, so it's easy to find some action wherever you go. No status traps/throwables, which admittedly add variety, but also annoy me to death. And it doesn't lag me down as much as some other maps, for some reason. All that and the fact that it was one of the original maps, which always get me sentimental :')

Runner-up would probably be Reactor, which is startlingly similar to Forest. Hm.

Some good ideas on your other thread too. I always wondered how people could be expected to discover the Krogmo games themselves, with the only real introduction being the release notes at their launch. /yes jennytheturtle

1: Necropolis - Sort of named after my story 'Rise of Necropolis' which came out way before LD (prolly just a coincidence though), and the top middle point surrounded by rocks if PERFECT for shock locking with my Lightning Capaciator. :D

2: Reactor - No reason. Just fun :D.

3: Furnace - Bottom right point perfect deathtrap for wolver clones. I can't remember how many time's I've shock spammed there and they just zoom right into the mist and shock lock themselves, giving me a perfect chance to toothpick them. >:D

4: Ramparts - Fire Pot wars. 'Nuff said.

Ramparts - Strong #1

for the simple reason that there are hardly any opportunities for your opponent clone striker to dash in from below the point abusing the camera angle and kill you before they even swing on your screen.

Everything else - #2

Balancing issues could be everywhere, but LD levels are def. something that's not focused on.

Frostbite Weak #3

At first it was just ridiculous with the amount of Lag built into this level on my poor PC. The one graphical update fixed that for me at least. This level has like... 90% of the space available to fight BELOW the points, which is just silly and a huge advantage to any striker class (sword or gun charges included, as they can hit off screen constantly in this level) in all honesty i like the snowballs option as long as there isn't some sort of steam discount going on. Variety is fun!

1) Necropolis: I like how there are narrow passages for me to clog with Voltaic Tempests, but at the same time there are like 3 ways around every choke point. For a sneaky Recon, you can slide through and around the enemy so much, and have so many ways to worm out when the situations get tough.

2) Ruins: Bright, cheerful, and simple. There are some nice open areas in the top part, and some narrow corridors in the bottom part. There is always action on both routes (unless the other team is trapped in their spawn).

3)Ramparts: Destroyable blocks. Idk why, but I love them. I love how the entire field feels so small and cramped at first, but by the end of the match, it's so much more open and easily maneuvered.

Time for Lockdown!

Glad to see such a variety of favorites. When creating these maps we've tried to cater to a variety of play styles and strategies to provide something interesting for everyone.

I've had a little bit of time to finally get back to making some more Lockdown maps. We'll have some maps up on the Preview test server mid-this week, ranging from a short and sweet, no frills level to a very experimental level where we're trying out some strategic use of team-only barriers. We'd love to get your feedback on the new levels and hear your opinions about how we can improve them!

For those of you with access to the Preview server, stay tuned!

^ Why cant we have updates

EDIT:

@Crazyoddbaa

Why cant we have updates like that? You know, giving us a reasonable estimate of when we are gonna get new content, and more of what it will be and...

Off topic..

Anyway, I'll be sure to try those out on the preview server, always nice to have more variety :)

I'd have to say top favorites are...

Reactor -- Simple and understated, but good for a match at any time.
Ruins -- Aurora Isles style FTW
Facility -- Very spacious and lots of ways to counter the enemy.
Necropolis -- Moodylighting, defined fighting corridors up top, large area for 2 teams to have a war at the bottom, and 5 points. Epic.

And one of my least favorites is Ramparts. I like the layout and all, but I just can't get the feel of playstyle there. Looks great though, and the idea of going the long way around to capture points is interesting, in contrast to just run up and 2-shot everyone with a Gran Faust.

Well, regardless of what you meant by "update", obviously, they've been busy working on other things. They aren't just sitting back doing nothing but making CE promos, as much as the tinfoilhats would like us to think.

I just generally enjoy the larger maps, I find they're generally better designed and longer matches generally leads to more interesting games. The only maps I dislike are Furnace and Frostbite since I think the gimmicks detract from the actual fighting and in Frostbite it's way too easy to abuse camera angles to get easy kills.

Eh, any map is fine. none really stand out to me. Most graphical issues with Frostbite have been absolved, which is the only one I hated due to that reason. What I hate now is when the map picker chooses the same map a dozen times in a row, or only chooses between two map types.

I *will* say that I like large teams better than small ones. It's less reliant on individual skill as much as team play. I rather like the team CP dynamic, even if damn near everyone treats it like TDM instead.

None of them. Although if I

None of them. Although if I had to pick one, maybe Forest.

If only for the simple reason that the control points seem arbitrarily placed on many of the Lockdown maps. For example, on Frostbite, both teams will start with a control point close to their spawn. However, one of these two control points is worth more points than the other. This makes no sense balance-wise, and effectively gives one of the teams an early advantage despite putting in the same amount of effort as the opposing team.

Now, this of course could be fixed by moving higher value control points to the center of the map. Alternatively, and I like this solution better, make the value of control points dynamic. Points that are closer to the enemy spawn are worth more to your team, and vice versa. This would essentially reward players for successfully pushing into enemy territory and managing to hold a point.

Are you talking about the point labels?
Those numbers are exactly just that: labels.

Taking Frostbite as an example, Team 2 will get the same amount of points (5 every cycle) from [3] as Team 1 would get from [1].

Every point is worth just +5 points per cycle, but in terms of actual gameplay and map control, the center and the points near the opponents' base are more valuable.

Ramparts is the only 5 point map I really dig. Trying to keep up with your team as a guardian or recon can be difficult in Necropolis and Ruins, and Facility is just a constant game of 'where the hell did the strikers run off to this time?'

Well gee, now I look stupid don't I? In that case, I really wish that it would have been better shown that all points have the same value. In my opinion, it would've made more sense to label these things with letters instead.

I've only seen Reactor, frostbite, and forest. Gotta say that Frostbite is my favorite, partially because I'm in love with the freeze status, and partially because of the snowballs that can stop an oncoming toothpick+skolver onslaught. And despite of what I've seen here, I don't lag there...
