No SK is still growing the reason you dont see many noobs in haven is because nobody knows where to find or how to talk to Rhendon ive seen it b4 they also sometimes cant see the blinking mision thing on the top of the screen and also cant equip a bomb.....
Is Spiral Knights dying?
@^ Also everything can be accessed via the "ready room" now so I would assume a lot of knights dont even hit haven any more and just go str8 from readyroom to mission or arcade tab.

For one: im glad to be able to read educated responses from ppl like blitzwingoo (im not just playing favorites). Secondly: what the heck are metrics? and how could u possibly listen to a dumb scoring system over actual living, breathing human beings that actually play the game and know whats wrong with it. Thirdly: Realm of the mad god is a game that gets boring after the first couple characters... the game lacks quite alot of content and is basically a constant search for the next XP train... the fact that they have the gall to even ask for money for in-game items is ridiculous. So i hardly think that an article written by the genius (sarcasm at work here) who made realm of the mad god makes ur statement any more solid than what it was before.
All that said and done I dont believe OOO is listening to their players and i believe ignorance could be deadly for this game... especially coming from those who made it.
Rotmg simply fails because it abandons the "half-minute hero" playstyle as soon as you reach level 20. Then it turns into godlands grindfest for stat increasing pots, which breaks its fast flow like an iceberg in your face. Only few pots are grinded in easily reachable dungeons, and only a handful of classes can actually get to the boss, OR damage them enough to be able to get that pot, which only one or two people in the party get. Not to mention that "fame" (ingame currency) is absurdly low and class quests (which you need X fame to get for each character) require you to get 2000 fame for last star (when you get to level 20, you will be lucky if you have more than 50 fame, AND fame getting SLOWS down then even more as you get more in the same character) and the infamous amulets of resurrection costs like 5-numbered cost prices. Also, all cosmetics are p2p only in that game, as well as storage space. You can't get ANYTHING useful for fame, except that outrageously expensive amulet.
^Now that we covered Rotmg, I hope that the metrics thing isn't what is happening here, because I have seen countless MMO fall due to lack of actual communication with their fanbase.
Are you all oblivious to the surveys in the game? You can already leave. The game is dying! (but only in your opinion, not mine)
@Nolybot
Oh thx, I like reading reasonable responses too....ones where people list out their reasons and are willing to discuss them to see if they have merit or not. Even if the responses disagree with my position, if the reasons are listed and are open to discussion....I find them reasonable. But to be honest sometimes seeing the amount of unreasonable responses makes me feel like I'm wasting my time and I shouldn't even try.
Metrics is statistics which the developer can see...like how many people killed gremlins in the last hour, which weapon people use has the most kills, what were people doing before deciding to buy CE, etc. A good overview of Metrics is this video I linked in my last post: Extra Credits Video on Metrics. I kind of now suspect OOO is overly using metrics to determine their decisions on, I think it may explain the downward trend and them seemingly ignoring us....but it's just a guess on my part.

Thanks for your feedback. I guess assuming you're representative of all new players and that the Steam Events are bringing in a lot of new players to the game who do contribute money to the game....this lead me to think that:
1) It's more likely OOO will continue to focus on New Players
2) New Players will become old players within 5 months or less
3) Old players are more likely to continue to be discontent as they're not the main focus
Assuming that's correct, where's the motivation for OOO to release new content? Assuming new players are not as great of a revenue source as the old players, why no new content yet for the old players and to give new players benefits while backhanding the old players in the face?
Hmmm....the biggest new content is the DLC which is behind a pay wall, relative high cost. Next biggest new content were the missions intended mainly for new players, low cost. Next the Shadow Lairs for the old players, but had a heavy cost at the time (and still somewhat now, but no gambling required). Minor content of accessories, eyes, height was for everybody but was essential a cash grab, moderate cost for existing players...less (some free) for new players.
This leads to expect any new content is going to come with a heavy cost except if it's meant for the new players. =|
OOO to existing players: "Thanks for your loyal support" (Pockets money, backhands player in the face).
@Paweu
You mean the one that asks me if Jellies tastes like strawberries? Alright I'm sure that question was just a joke....but I haven't seen any recent surveys and I don't remember them asking really hard questions like "What do you think we should focus on right now for immediate updates?" or "What do you think this game needs the most right now?" or "What do you think we're doing right and wrong?". Instead I remember questions like "Would you like more gear", "Would you like Pets?", "Do know how to buy CE?".....which all seem to relate to accessories, pet pouches, accessories with CE packs, etc. So it seems the survey questions were more of a marketing research to anticipate how well their money grabs will be received by us rather than seeing what we really want and then trying to provide it.
"The game is dying! (but only in your opinion, not mine)"
Come on dude....we're trying to assess if that's the case or not, stop putting words in our mouths (straw man argument ). If you have an actual reasonable argument lets hear it, otherwise it's just your belief which doesn't get us any closer to figuring anything out except you think believing hard enough will make it true.
I see no reason to argue with someone who blindly believes that OOO is out there to screw him.
More like you see no reason to backup your arguments with good reasons.
Yeah I'm just picking on OOO for no reason, it's not that I'm bringing up any valid points and examining counter-arguments....I just like spending a lot of time thinking and writing about OOO just to get them for no reason. /sarcasm
Wait a minute.....how did OOO screw me? Last I remember, I'm not a super rich elite old player that's been affected by any of the recent patches. I just want the game to get better and better for the players, and I'm concerned by the direction it seems to be going which is away from that.
It'll probably "die" because of eventual namelock.
