MKSS > Manalicious-Knight's Short Story 01 < MKSS
(pronounced "mix")
I decided to start a short story based on the Rescue Camp experience. This is just part of what I have so far, and much more is coming. Feedback is welcome.

With a violent shudder, the constant shaking stopped.
How long had it been since you had taken refuge in the pod to depart the failing Skylark? How long had it been since you had taken a breath that wasn't recycled by the pod's filtration system? Since you had taken in a sight that wasn't that disgusting shade of metallic grey? Since you had taken a step on solid ground?
How long had it been since the entirety of your existence was defined by an escape pod careening through the atmosphere of an alien planet?
With a violent shudder, the constant shaking stopped. After Isora knows how long, something put an end to the almost cowardly trembling of the pod making its way through the dense air of this foreign planet. At long last, you had landed.
It took you a moment to realize. You had landed. You had landed.
You
- had
-
- landed.
Your eyes grew wide as you came to understand the situation. Without really thinking about it, you moved to open the pod's entry hatch. Your hand was already set to turn the handle by the time your mind caught up to you, but you managed to stop yourself in time to think first.
- Is this even safe? Think about it. You have no idea where you are. You don't even know if the air outside is breathable. The best thing to do would be to wait and see if anyone else is in the same situation - that's what the pod's communication systems are for, right? Right?
It was inevitable. You had been in your pod for an amount of time that could only be defined by the words "too" and" much". That you had even considered the possibility of staying longer was incredible.
Your hand resumed its thoughtless motion - turning the handle, starting to push the hatch outward. After giving it just a hint of your intent, the pod let its hatch fall to the force of the strange planet's gravity. It was as if the planet was actually taking the hatch away from the pod to invite you onto its surface.
This makes me want to get back to my own story, but I want to finish the last couple mechanic notes for my suggestion thread before doing so. This post is not at all shameless self advertisement.
In all Seerusness, I look forward to more of this.
