What is a pro player? What does it take to become a pro player?
Discuss.
What is a pro player?
A Pro players is someone who have Pro in his nick, like Produkt.
To be pro player, you must be able to solo anything and not have to revive more than twice.
Somebody who...
- Has a ton of cash
- Is essentially a Skolver clone
- Has UVs on all their skolver clone gear.
Does that answer your question?
You have to be weathly
Not be insensitively rude or whiney about EVERY aspect of the game(Exception: Lag)(Do not abuse Exceptions)
Be generous to others
Be kind to others
Read the ToS and ToU
You have to have decent skills
...
Be able to change the community before the Age of Idiocracy and Entitlement
pro = professional
professional at x = does x for a living
=> pro at Spiral Knights = plays Spiral Knights for a living
Wait, wat.
To be pro at Spiral Knights you have to:
- Have quadruple Max UVs on all of your gear
- Wear nothing but Wolver-Line gear and use Flourishes.
- Play nothing but GvG Lockdown
- Spend $1000 a day on CE to buy accessories you can waste on your Skolver, Vog Cub and Snarbolax
- Play for at least 25 hours a day
- Have made your account in 1486BC after you jerry rigged an internet connection out of Sabertooth Tiger Stomach lining and Crushed Beetle Shells
Someone who is in favour of playing.
Even just of other people playing the game!
What can I say - they're pro-player.
You have to be awesome.
In that case im never gonna be pro. Sadly :c
You are a pro if you use the Cautery Sword all day every day.
You guys depress me...
I've seen several people who constantly spend money on this game, and I've easily outpaced them in places like FSC and SLs, despite them having good UVs or a wealth of random accessories.
In addition, one of my biggest rivals and best friends in Lockdown CONSISTENTLY smashes me down, while I'm wearing full Skolver and a Heart Trinket, and he is wearing full Heavenly Iron and no trinkets (Before you ask, his BtB just has a +dam vs Fiend low UV). I even pull out my VT and he still gets the better of me.
lol'd shoebox, in order to play 25 hours everyday, would mean you play forever...never stopping.....
A pro... Is someone who can get through everything in proto gear, with no shield, and not die once. *trinkets are allowed*
A pro can defeat Royal Jelly with the Snarble Barb.
Jesting aside, I don't really know.
I do know rich != pro though.
Buying your snarbo set with ce does not make you a pro player. (Or a gazillion accessories for millions of cr.)
I find I'm more interested in cool than pro player though.
Taking a new player to next tier for sightseeing before they have clearance is cool.
Helping new-ish player slay monsters is cool.
Dragging laggy players with barely sufficient 4* gear through FSC is cool.
Beating two rabid doggies while your first-time-there friend is scared out of his wits (and dead) is cool.
Thank you my friends who helped me get to where I am. (Worst player ever, but with varied 5* gear now. :) )
On a final note: Going through FSC in proto armour and ending up GIVING HP to dead players is cool. Like I said, Pro is short for proto. :)
You have to be good at lockdown using noob armor and helm and can solo anything using noob amor and helm especially vana >_<
A pro uses Vortex. Everyone else either works with you or is a stupid noob.
Only joking. A "pro player" is a developer, because he/she runs Spiral Knights for a living, and this includes playtesting.
But your version of "pro player"? Doesn't matter what gear you use, as long as you're good with it. You can be a pro with ISB, Suda, Iron Slug, and Ancient Plate. (I think we all know someone who is.)
Pointless.
I play this game to have fun not to become a 'pro'.
"To be pro player, you must be able to solo anything and not have to revive more than twice."
Sounds like something that would be said by someone who had to revive twice -.-
Also this game is dirt easy. Everyone is a pro.
This thread is.....
Pointless.
I play this game to have fun not to become a 'pro'."
Finally someone gets it.
Until we see what danger missions are like, we are all pros by default xD game nerfed itself. Wasn't our faults.
How is it pointless it is meant to give people that are not pro advice on how to be pro.
All of you who are saying this thread is pointless are probably just closet non-pros.
....
Skill.
Gear and cash reserves can all go burn in the fiery depths of UFSC; without skill, they are useless.
I doubt I'll need to tell the story about that T2 guy who followed me into T3 again. Let's just say, he did better than I did, and did it WELL.
Knowing when to attack, with what, and how, knowing when to defend, to fall back, to use a support weapon.
A 'pro' should also be able to adapt to the situation to gain the upper hand. Like when you're out of your depth in terms of damage and defense, use a gun to blow up explosive blocks to damage enemies.
Needless to say, I am none of those, save for a slight tendency to blow up Blast blocks when I need to, sadly Q.Q
In any case, I concur with Iron. I'm no pro, but finding what's fun in this game is more important IMO.
While technically, as others have said, a "pro" player is one that can make a living off of Spiral Knights. I've seen a few, not well-renowned gold farming sites advertise Spiral Knights crowns in exchange for real money, but I haven't heard of anyone actually using them, so as far as I'm concerned there are no professionals at Spiral Knights.
In terms of gameplay, I would consider a player who preforms exceedingly well at this game a "pro" if they can:
1) Be able to do well with swords, guns, and bombs.
2) Be adept when faced with any combination of monster family and theme. (Shock fiends, anyone?)
3) Take minimal damage, and thus receive minimal deaths.
4) Control crowds well, especially when in a party.
5) Enjoy the game and all aspects of it.
Most of this is related to PvE, as I have little experience with PvP.
The main criteria for professional include the following:
Expert and specialized knowledge in field which one is practicing professionally.[5]
Excellent manual/practical and literary skills in relation to profession.[6]
High quality work in (examples): creations, products, services, presentations, consultancy, primary/other research, administrative, marketing, photography or other work endeavours.
A high standard of professional ethics, behaviour and work activities while carrying out one's profession (as an employee, self-employed person, career, enterprise, business, company, or partnership/associate/colleague, etc.). The professional owes a higher duty to a client, often a privilege of confidentiality, as well as a duty not to abandon the client just because he or she may not be able to pay or remunerate the professional. Often the professional is required to put the interest of the client ahead of his own interests.
Reasonable work morale and motivation. Having interest and desire to do a job well as holding positive attitude towards the profession are important elements in attaining a high level of professionalism.
Participating for gain or livelihood in an activity or field of endeavour often engaged in by amateurs b : having a particular profession as a permanent career c : engaged in by persons receiving financial return[5]
Appropriate treatment of relationships with colleagues. Consideration should be shown to elderly, junior or inexperienced colleagues, as well as those with special needs. An example must be set to perpetuate the attitude of one's business without doing it harm.
A professional is an expert who is master in a specific field.
I am currently godly because I have a Fang of Vog, obviously the best 5star sword ever. Obtain one and you too shall be deemed "Pro" even if you're as nooby as I am.
Wait wait wait woah there.
Stop everything.
You guys are telling me that to be a pro player I have to be good at this game?
I give up then.
"I am currently godly because I have a Fang of Vog, obviously the best 5star sword ever. Obtain one and you too shall be deemed "Pro" even if you're as nooby as I am."
Please tell me this guy is trolling.
I'm not sure, trolling is usually a bit more subtle than that, but you're welcome to classify it as trolling.
Joke on an alt should things get hot? ifyouknowwhatimean?
In any case, lemme reword that as 'Seerusly?'
A prop layer is someone working on a movie set who places props.
What is a pro? A miserable little pile of skill.
But enough talk. Have at you!
if by pro you mean a "top player", i have no idea why someone would even list wealth as a factor. people have beat vana in proto - thats damn cost effective. no need to even go into LD or BN...
lol @ people who think you have to pay money to be good at the game. Silly noobies.
A pro player is a beginning player, because all they have is Proto Gear, and we all know that PROto Gear is Pro.
Mindspark: A pro can defeat Royal Jelly with the Snarble Barb.
oh my good i am a prah

A pro-player is someone who supports or agrees with the idea of players. Yup.
A pro player knows when to use a Recon Cloak.
Definition of professional means they will earn cash from their activities.
For instance, in SC2, pro players play in competitions and earn cash from the winnings. Dota2 is another game which has pro players.
If you MAKE money from Spiral Knights, from nothing, or very little. You are a pro player. For instance, you buy $10 of ce, and are able to make it into $200 worth of steam games. Until lockdown starts getting competitions by sponsors and prize pools, not a single good player from lockdown will be considered pro.
If you spend money on Spiral Knights, you are a customer.
If you're very good at a game, then you are a veteran.
I know very few SK professionals, I know a ton of veteran customers.
Xylka-Mkii
Iron
and the Subjected one
... Pretty much what you peoples said.
Play to have fun, Be good at what you do.
Be kind, and try not to rage TOO much.
Attempt to aid others to become pros.
Uses Recon cloak.
...
It just saddens me that not only do many New Knights think that Wolvers and Other Clones are Pro, But that Paying money to get them is also pro. Not to mention Clones Thinking that they are pro because they Use Clone gear.
im pro, i have 5* gear and i never die in anywhere more than twice(but im not just skolver only de down part, the helm is the ancient plate helm)
Though this was a new thread until i saw Kattamoon Posts... but then noticed this was bring up to the front page due a post of gonzalus. oh well at least Guyinshinyarmour said what i would have said in this thread.
I remember this thread. Could have sworn I posted in it but I guess not ^-^
To be pro you have to eat dem muffins while you play :D
You have to be payed money to play, to be considered "pro".
