I only have two questions:
1. Is Jelly King still the best farm in Tier 2? If not, what should I be farming to get money for more 5 star upgrades?
2. Does anyone know if the combat update here : http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/54151 will bring character combat skills (FINALLY) into Spiral Knights?
Which is the best farming spot? I don't care if RT is balanced in output, I simply want to know which gate to grind for the most crowns.

Anyway for T2 do what you want. Either boss pays out the same so whichever one takes you less time is the best.
Was the mission system out then? That would be November, so I don't think so...
You'll want to make your way through the missions, as they allow you to start boss runs directly without having to play through the less profitable levels. In a way to balance this, they have slightly less payout than the clockworks version. Even so, unless you have friends running to the t2 terminal, the mission will pay out better than the clockworks.
@Noomad WOW, really good to know. I was simply never going to waste energy on those early missions.
Do you know approximately how many missions it takes to skip the majority of T2? I have no missions completed atm.
Takes a lot of grinding. T1 missions are somewhat plentiful too, so that probably does not help.
It should be somewhere around 200-300 energy in elevator fees to unlock RJP, and then another 50 i'd wager to get to RT.... sigh... fine i'll go count :P
It'll take 280 (give or take 10) energy to get to RJP. To get to RT, you need to beat RJP, and then another 100 energy beyond that to unlock RT.
But keep unlocking beyond that and you'll eventually get to the FSC mission, which is what 95% of the runs people on my friends list do...
Exactly. It forces your regular player to grind it endlessly instead of actually experiencing the clockworks and levels OOO made. A point I made in a different thread. I cant stand seeing everybody going like: "meh just farm fsc" instead of "dunno, just pick a gate with the stratums you like most". Not the greatest welxome back message.
I only FSC if I find the previous strata favourable. Usually Slimes of Wolver, otherwise I'll look for a nicer T3 gate.
Also if I need the materials. Saw a Beast Tier, top to bottom. Drooled. I love beast stratas, even though I don't have a loadout great for them. Old habit I guess.
Beast stratums are a ton of fun. Love them so much. I also enjoy Fiend stratums, and slime. We should run together soon.

I will be running FSC exclusively the moment that I am able to solo it, most preferably if I am once my Vog Cap is complete. It's the sad truth, but I shall be forced to run the optimal gate. I hope very much so that character skills come out, though. It would truly add an element to this game which is lacking severely in actual gameplay, horrid energy system aside.
