Sup yo, knighties and knightlemen

I present to you, or rather want to share with you, an email which I recieved from Three Rings.

----

Hello!

As part of our ongoing dialogue with the Spiral Knights player community, we are reaching out to players who were significantly active in the game, but have since become inactive. For that reason, we'd like to ask you for some additional feedback on your experience with the game. This request is entirely optional and is intended to help us improve the game and decide on future additions and changes.

If you are comfortable doing so, we'd love to hear your responses to the following questions...

* At first glance, what was the single most important factor that encouraged you to play Spiral Knights?
* Can you remember your impressions of the game from your first time playing? Were they positive?
* Was it clear to you how the game economy worked? Did it seem reasonable and fair?
* As you gained more experience, what aspect of the game was most exciting?
* Can you tell us what aspect of the game you liked least?
* As mentioned earlier, it seems like you have stopped playing the game regularly. Can you share the reason why? Is there something that would incline you to play the game more? A specific feature or change?

We really appreciate your feedback! As a thank you for taking the time to respond to this mini-survey, we'd like to give you a small gift: a Solstice Prize Box! You can claim this gift on any of your characters by entering the following key into the Redeem Code menu accessible from within Spiral Knights...

Thank you, and we hope to see you in the Clockworks again soon!

Warmest Regards,
Three Rings Design

Now, the thing is that I told my friends about this immediately, and they didn't recieve this mail themselves, hence we all figured only inactive players may have recieved this email?

How fair is this, for only inactive players to recieve a redeem code like that, haha don't get me wrong, I love the fact that I was able to actually get something for free, so I'm not complaining for my own sake, but for yours.

"we are reaching out to players who were significantly active in the game, but have since become inactive"

Isnt it self-explanatory? :B

I'm worried about abuses... create an alt and dont use it fo some time then claim prize later.
I hope they tought about that by cheking IPs or something.

Isn't it unfair to the other

Isn't it unfair to the other players who actually ARE active, is my question here.

@Molejester

Quite.
It would make more sense to give a little 'thank you' gift to active players as well - with a 'time played' check first, obviously (only players older than X days included), and only one gift per account, to avoid excessive market flooding.

If that turns out to be too many people, I suppose you COULD add a 'people who spent IRL cash' clause, but that would probably result in a lot of bawwing about P2W and so forth. :U

Multiple Accounts. It's always abusable. Thats why we cant have nice things.

Even my previous comment about Ip check could be evaded.
Time check? leave a client open with some autoscript so it runs in circles.

Whatever else they come up with will probably be hacked too, they always find a way.

No, it's not unfair, because

No, it's not unfair, because would you give a review to them if they weren't offering a prize at the end?

Not many people are going to do this review and take advantage of it... actually many of the people would probably read the first sentence and delete the e-mail. Or not even open the e-mail at all.

So, my opinion?

They need to bribe people to do reviews that take up their time outside of playing games. Basically they are paying you for you reviewing the game. It's just a forum of payment really. It's fair.

At least the code should not

At least the code should not be included in the first mail, rather be sent to you once you actually gave some feedback, haha.

Yeah I could no longer play the game because Haven was so bright and happy and annoying that I went insane and threw my computer out mah window. WTB New hang out spot preferrably a more accessible Emberlight or anything underground and darker and not as freaking happy and without that 7 year old feel.

If this is what I get for playing the game, I'd better stop.

@Fehzor

I think a better choice of words would be "If this is what I get for NOT playing the game, I'd better stop" ;P
