Since OOO doesn't have Google's superpower of datamining... We need a rating system for suggestions

We need to organize the suggestions section.

Recently, there was a new player, who was shocked by how unbalanced LD was. And when he posted about it, he was met with jeers from the more experienced (and jaded) crowd.

I've noticed that there's been a huge amount of content which players agree that it needs to be fixed, but since the problem is so old and well discussed, that nobody bothers talking about them anymore.

Such as Iron slug. Ionized Salt bomb. Advanced guild halls. Cutter charge. Irontech Destroyer. 5* spur. etc.

Meanwhile, the things that the Devs have been changing has been a bit random. Who complained about antiguas? Or why are they so fixated on modifying RSS?

And the changes we're suggesting are usually not that hard to change. It would take less than 1 min to give Iron slug a damage buff.

So here is my suggestion.

On top of every forum, there should be an option to create a poll.
In the poll, players can add suggestions entries to the topic of the forum. Each suggestion entry has:
1. A ranking or 1 to 5 stars, 5 being the best
2. How many people voted/ranked this suggestion
3. A short description of the suggestion
4. A link to another forum/poll/website to for more details about their suggestions
5. An area for devs to show whether the suggestion is used in a new update, whether the suggestion is irrelevant, or just for general comments

All players reading the poll can rate each suggestion on a scale of 1 to 5 stars.
Players can vote as many times as they want (notice that the top emtry is the one with the highest rating AND lowest number of votes, to encourage discussion).
All players can add new entries.
Players can only delete or modify their own entries.
Entries are ranked in the order of
1. New entries (less than 1 day old)
2. New and Highly rated entries (few votes, highest ratings)
3. Old and Highly rated entries (many votes, highest ratings)
4. New and low rated entries
5. Old, low rated entries...

Ideally, with the links, we can structure the polls so that the form a sort of ranked wiki of suggestions so that the Devs will have a better understanding of what they need to change.

Did I miss anything?

This again

This thread may be a repeated concept, but the concept itself is worthwhile; the issue is when people use their derpbillion alternate accounts to vote for themselves. It would also come down to community bitterness. Not all users have a positive history. Not all users are welcome for something they may have done. These users will intentionally interfere with the system out of spite. If there were a list of regular users who had exclusive rights to this voting system it would be applicable, but the manager of it would have to be able to identify alternates and trolls and exclude them from participation. In my thread I created an index of stuff from other threads which has been received well, though the favorites of everyone may not be there. The creator of bad thread derpbillion wants all their garbage to be approved regardless of how commendable it is and will spam to get it there. We have a search function which searches for the word(s) throughout threads rather than the actual subject, but that would be subjective.

best idea =/= most voted,

best idea =/= most voted, liked idead, popular amongst more people

Its propably only advantage of this forum engine that devs cant add rating system since it would be the worst thing to add in here.

nooo

Sort of reiterating what Asukalan said here; the most popular ideas are rarely the most feasible or in line with the dev's plans for the game. If a rating system was added it would turn into the upvoting mess that is Reddit.

If I were a dev perusing the suggestions forum, I wouldn't make plans to remove energy and elevator costs simply because a hivemind mass voted it.

Democracy has nothing to do

Democracy has nothing to do with it. Let's say, all of the sudden a thread pops up that's just "OPEN THE CORE!" And practically everyone jumps onboard rating it 5*
Is it the highest rated? Yes. But just because it's rated high doesn't mean it's going to happen. OOO has its own set agenda to do things and suggestions, popular or not, a suggestion can only be considered if it doesn't break the game agenda. No matter how much we want to OPEN THE CORE (hypothetically) it can't happen

I thought about it for a bit,

I thought about it for a bit, and here's my answer:

1. The polls don't replace threads. In fact, I'm not saying we should rate threads. Instead, it should be inside and right above a thread, asking people for suggestions. The devs can use the polls as a sort of first reference, and then check the thread whether it has been discussed or not, and whether it is possible to implement or not. That's also why there is #5: An area for devs to show whether the suggestion is used in a new update, whether the suggestion is irrelevant, or just for general comments

2. People can vote more than once. If you really love some suggestion, you are free to give it 10 5 stars. Or if you change your mind, vote another couple times. Notice above, that the highest ranked entries are the ones not only with the highest ratings, but also the fewest votes, so that there will be more discussion for those topics.

Yeah, im sure all those "omgozomo i wants pet, super extra combo, laser dinosaurs and mounts.... will bother to answer in this topic if all they can do is just click to show their love to some pointless idea.

So I have a question. Why

So I have a question. Why can't the forum itself be upgraded. I'm sure theres a good reason, but the forum really could use a simple thumbs up for a post system, private threads, following threads and all the other things that come with forums in general. If they could, im sure they would as having a similar system is better then not having one at all.

ps. I only read bits and pieces of everyones post. =p
