I want to know if this is
I want to know if this is trade-able, and if it's going to be a monthly or whatever thing with special costumes and stuff.
If it happens not to be tradeable, I'll be pretty mad.
If it happens to be monthly, I'll be even madder.
If both, I'll just rage like a bull.
I don't really mind those things usually, though when it's something exclusive for paying players it's just insulting to the free players. (Note: I am a paid player.)
And really, I though Spiral Knights wasn't this sort of online game; Even though it revolved a lot on CE and purchase of it with real money, it was different; There was nothing a free player couldn't obtain without paying for it. This might no longer be the case.

If you paid say a $50 worth of energy, would you receive 5 of the random equips? Or just 1 and a larger payment wouldn't make a difference?

Yes, they can be traded.
As DeckardCain says, they can be traded. From the announcement post:
- "Items are delivered unbound and can be freely traded. However, like all equipment, Rose Regalia items bind on equip. If you plan on trading them, do not equip them!"

If I were a free player, I'd be pretty happy about this. Anything that gets people buying more CE will reduce the in-game crown price.
Not so bad on the paying side either. It's like a cosmetic cash shop, except it comes with actual useful stuff!

But now after reading it, I really don't like that it's random, and that it only lasts a single week.
I just hope this kind of promotion does not happen very often. My completionist soul won't be happy, and I'll end up wasting so much CE just to have those things!

I have a warning for everyone.
Buying 50$ of ce at once will only get you ONE piece of Rose Regalia.
You would have to buy five of the 10$ ce bunches and get LESS CE OVERALL for the SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY.
It's pretty unfair. Otherwise, I'd have bought ce just for these.

I truly Think that the Rose Regalia Energy Bonus is a waste of Time, Why! well because its all just a costume.
no spacial Bonus and No Nothing! a Big Waste of Time!, Plus everything is random giving to you, that mean you could get twice the same item...

This appears to me more of a sneaky way of OOO to boost CE sales to encourage more free players to go paid, but I'm worried about which direction the economy will go. With the (probably) Huge boost of CE, will prices of items ingame increase due to players having more money, or decrease even furthur because of material saturation (more ce = more depth = more mats)?
Hmm. Now that I think of it, will development of the auction house go faster with more funds.... Hmmmmm.

Still though, it would be nice to pick and choose the reward if they're going to set up pricing this way. Only way to get a specific piece is to buy in over $60 worth of ce (odds are against you) or trade for it and hope someone has it.

I would have liked to see the
I would have liked to see the Rose set cost around 4,000 CE per piece, so that it works out the same as buying $10 worth of CE. It lets players sitting on piles of CE sink it quickly and effectively as an investment, and players in-game can use crowns to buy CE off the market to obtain them without requiring a more complicated manual transaction through a human player as a middleman.
Although I suppose the fact that CE is all consumable means that introducing CE Sinks isn't really a factor unless CE becomes useless compared to Mist in the endgame.

Oh boy, I love this update. It's not cause I'm actually going to purchase CE at all. In fact, I probably won't but lets think of it this way. If more CE is going to be dumped in the system, that means the market prices for ce will drop, thus making this one of the best events EVER!

I'm completely fine with OOO making money, but this is the kind of thing that makes a F2P game's home page look tawdry. I'd like to see more patch notes and announcements there, and less marketing. When I bug the friends I'm trying to convince to play the game, it's because there's been a nice patch. I'm not going to show them more evidence of F2Pness.
