Regarding the Guardian Armour DLC :(
Wait...what?
I swear, OOOs always seems to baffle me with their decisions.
Fix this OOO we paid 2X what you want for test access !
Bullcrap technicalities. OOO weaseling out of giving access. Kinda pathetic, really. Sure, it might say that access is only given for CE package purchases, but really; the guardian thing is just a glorified one like the battle or starter pack.
Oh well. C'est la vie.
The Guardian Pack shouldn't have 5000 ce in it if it isn't a "CE package". Whatever they can do to get more money out of their players. I wonder how many players actually bought the Guardian Pack for the 2 sets and not the 5000 ce, 1 month elevator pass, 30 day heat amp (mostly useless), 4 nemesis boxes, and 5 mist tanks. Keywords: Four Nemesis Boxes
I'd like to add a quick clarification here. The purchase of a Steam DLC (the Guardians Armor Pack and Operation Crimson Hammer) does not count towards test server access. While unfortunate, that is correct and not a bug. The reason for this, however, are not technicalities, but technical reasons - certainly not because we value DLC purchases less than others or have any ambitions of the weasely sort.
As pointed out in our Testing Guidelines (http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/24087), DLCs like OCH and the new Guardians Armor Pack can't be taken into account for access to Preview, because they're handled differently. They're not processed through our billing system, but through the Steam store and therefore can't be taken into account the way "regular" purchases through the Steam Wallet or website billing are.
The term "CE package" also shouldn't be taken too literally when it comes to test server access. If we were keen on handling things by the letter this way, just to be a pain, we'd also need to exclude the Elevator Pass here - which is not the case. Apologies for the disappointment here, it is understandable. We'd of course like to include everyone eligible who made an according purchase, but it's simply not possible at the moment to take DLC purchases into account the same way the purchases of packages through Energy Depot and website billing are.
So why isnt the Guardian armor pack processed the same way as the battle and starter packs?
For anyone playing SK on the steam client. Sign into Spiral Knights website, click on support, look for the billing section and click on buy energy. If you want to give your money straight to Spiral Knights and not Steam. Also I bought OCH using this method and I didn't have to download anything.. Steam lies. Also Steam players can buy the Guardian Pack using this method. Just click on the promo image.
So I gave OOO 20$ and I can't test things...so you want me to give you more money....so I can test things...i'm still trying to wrap my mind around that one... U_u'
My guess is that it's something to do with either publicity during the Steam Summer Sale or that it's just easier to hold sales for a pack that would have to change 3 times on their client on Steam.
They answered him in 4 minutes with a personal response, I'd call that damn good customer service. Even what I'm going through with customer support in SK right now beats the BS 1 sentence response I got from Perfect World Interactive that I had to wait 5 days for!
Dammit, they would not return the promo item that I earned because their server was bucking up and erased it from existence during maintenance!
Not weaseling out. Just not bothering to iron out issues to make it possible. That's actually far less evil. Lazy, but not evil.
I don't quite understand why OOO couldn't just flag accounts that have activated DLC as having purchased X dollar amount of CE in the billing system. Surely they keep track of when DLC is activated in some other database. Though maybe doing that would screw up the billing system or something. I dunno. I don't work there.
Also didn't know they gave credit for ele passes. A nice touch.
That blows!
