Why cant OOO make an update where no one rages, nothing gets broken, and it actually patches properly.....
I have a set for each class, I have swords, I have guns, and I have bombs. RSS was the only bomb I had that could match the other 2 classes. RIP RSS, hello new piece of utter junk crystal bombs. Thanks for ruining another part of Spiral Knights in some money grabbing twist of events. I'll be waiting for my friend to return home before I decide what I am going to do after this update.

You didn't even mention that Combuster > all, ever since the brandish buff. I can go through RJP faster with a CTR Combuster than with a Gran Faust! How stupid!
Also, why add Splinter and Dark Matter if their mechanics are going to be the same as ISB and RSS, just with pure damage and no bonus? Either they'll do more damage (therefore a bomber would choose them because a pure bomber maxes CTR and Damage Bonus) or they do similar, in which case they're useless.

Man I'm having such a bad month. On an unrelated note, just now my dad dropped my usps box on top of my other box, both of which had new hard drives, but he didn't know. I need these to save my files, cause my computer was crashing constantly and now this. JHC, what a month. Here's hoping they don't stop working after a month.
I would still like to know who in Three Rings (besides Nick) could possibly think these new bombs were good.

DBB outclasses any sword or gun when fighting wolvers or gremlins. It can take any size wave and allow you to attack without even having to move or shield and receive no damage. About the only exception is gremlin demo's since they drop bombs when they get damaged.

OOO has officially lost me as a paying customer, although I will continue to eat up their bandwidth in spite. I've watched OOO/The SK team go from honest developers that seemed to want to make a great game with huge potential, to greedy money-whores who don't give a [CENSORED] about the community. Their business practices have become increasingly sleazy and in poor taste. This bait and switch disgusts me, I have no respect for a company that treats customers this way.

I know you are the creator and chief designer of SK and you practically "own" this game (actually Sega does). So you are free to roll out whatever you feel is adequate into your game.
Just a friendly reminder that there are competition out there for your SK and it turns out people are free to vote with their wallet also. Is there a reason why you want to force us into trying (and eventually hating) your version of RSS? How is cluster bombing going to help with fighting fiends? We need sniping for these little SOB and the original RSS was doing just fine. Why can't you be more humble and just try out your version of shard bombs in a new line, listen to your customers, then decide what is the best course of action for SK and ultimately your employer?
Honestly, I'm actually somewhat thankful for the update. I never really used the shard bombs that often before, and I can see why people would be angry over the change as they were powerful before, but I actually see the new shard bombs having more uses. They may not be able to stack up damage as fast as before against big targets, but against Royal Jelly and his stage I actually find it easier to use the new Rock Salt Bomb over Black Hole bo- I mean the Graviton Charge. Especially considering how I use the Chroma Suit against him, Maximum damage vs Slimes along with the fact that it's now shadow damage over the old piercing damage, what's not to like? Well... besides Sun Shards and it's upgrade(s) no longer being useful in FSC, anyway.
Okay, Nordlead, so the DBB crushes Wolvers and Gremlins. That's Wolvers and Gremlins. BTB/FF tears up Wolvers with barely more effort, and Acheron/Sentenza do the same to Gremlins. And the RSS (or SSS, now) probably isn't that much better.
No, what I'm worried about is Fiends. Devilites aren't what worries me, Greavers are. Okay, them and other players in Lockdown. The bug is stupid, by the way.
As for the Rock Salt Bomb line, people are probably happier with the new ISB than the old one- I admit, I am. And we like the new Crystal Bomb line, of course. It's the RSS we're angry about.
Maybe we should try it for a while and see what happens, I have a RSS with a low CTR sitting on my inventory for sometime. (even though i wasn't playing SK for 2 weeks due to sickness and playing on the Xbox 360 for a while.) I think the stun maybe useful against fiends. Also maybe add 2 bombs that act like the old shard bombs so we can still have them. (like Old RSS and etc.) Also at the ATH, some people say that the new bombs added more things to the damage types so that bombs can be more useable. Sorry, I have an open mind about things.
Well, I'll give it a week for them to make some changes. Until then, back to SWTOR!
I still believe the new bomb is a piece of junk since I play tested it after the update. Its just horrible compared to the old RSS and honestly if I didnt have a RSS before the update I surely wouldn't make one now.
making another RSS like bomb that ISN'T actually RSS would be a second slap in the face. "Oh? you want your old bomb you spend hundreds of thousands rolling on? Well you're gonna have to craft it again and re-roll all those times. Have fun!"
Change maybe a good thing, other times bad. Maybe OOO can give us a choice by keeping the old RSS or use the new one. Maybe, maybe not I do not know at this point. Also, another downside of it is it will make lag sometimes, but it needs more info to be sure.
Most people with market knowledge such as Pawn knows how much money OOO will get off of this. I mean, virtual tickets that they can spawn for absolutely no money can't and will not compensate for how much we've worked for. For example, I recently bought CE to switch to full bomber, and fell in love with the RSS. I spent a considerably high amount of crowns trying to get Undead Medium or higher, which I did just so OOO comes and destroys the one thing I loved doing the most. So in OOO eyes, I have to spend another considerably high amount of money on buying CE, to then convert into CR so that then I can make the new line of Elemental bombs then forever roll until I get what I want. So then OOO decides to leak the info about the UV tickets so that people ragecraft all the bombs possible in the little time they had, forcing some of them to buy CE (Assuming) to ragecraft even more bombs which we all know, it's a big profit for OOO because as I stated earlier and Pawn has stated, UV tickets cost nothing for OOO. What pisses me off the most about this patch is that not only they changed one of the most awesome bombs in the game, but that they destroyed it and make good profit off of it and to hell what the bomber players think. Sure, not many bombers in the game, making the percentage of players who will complain that high, so let's make these changes with a terrible excuse and make them spend more money. I am really sad about this patch and I completely disagree with the changes you guys have made. Not to mention, the huge market burn that will happen when all the tickets are received.

Gwen, didn't you tell me there was 1 limit per star level bomb just before the reboot? : \ I'm sure you'll say I was mistaken, as I don't have the proof and I have forgotten. I remember you listing only one ticket at from each 1*, 2*, and 3* bomb.
Just tested the new bomb. It is absolutely, utterly horrible. Slower than DBB/Nitronome, less RANGE than them, you can only put two of them at the same time - so no "minefield" possible at all, shards DISAPPEAR under some circumstances, and the damage is horrible.
Whoever designed this should get fired. Seriously. It is the most worthless bomb I have ever seen. Even the 1* "snap" bombs work better if you want a strike+status+knockback, damage aside from tier 2 on.
On the other hand, I prefer my Irontech Destroyer over the Nitronome now, for "crowd control". Most likely another person in OOO's team did this. Possibly the one who designed Blitz Needle.
Give us back the old bombs! Even these new bombs if you look at the icons, you can see they have a "D:" sadface!
Went on a random prestige mission. D19. Nitronome doing 176. Single shard from the RSS with maximum damage vs fiend (I had a UV from before). 146 (sometimes 123 weirdly). I'm aware this is a 4 star vs 5 star bomb thing, but I thought most things pre-d23 were on par between 4* and 5* especially in cases of an elemental weakness.
The fact that I can get possibly two hits off a single bomb on a devilite isn't all that great as a lot of the times they're dodging out of the entire thing. I'm doing better with Nitronome... it does seem slightly more spammable since the rings may stay but it doesn't compare with the protection of the nitronome. NOT that the old RSS did either, but if an enemy jumped into it, well that paid for it a lot more. The stun is nice but not really making up for anything.
Since I don't really play this, you don't have to take my word for anything, it just doesn't seem all that great of a change.

I know I was disappointed that RSS was turned into just piercing. Sure, that was a bad move there, but think about the Dark Matter bomb, shouldn't it have a damage bonus vs gremlin? The 4* version says "gremlins hate surprises" so why not?
Not sure if anyone else has pointed this out or not, but while testing a Dark Matter Bomb the damage it did was different between the bomb itself and the shards. The shards actually dealt more damage than the bomb itself did! Is it some kind of glitch or are the bombs suppose to work like this?

I heard Irontech is OK but BAB still needs some work. I say keep the charge time and speed decrease and increase the radius even more. I've always wanted a nuke.

the fact that a dedicated bomber is the only one who likes this patch tell me that ppl only liked it for LD and One-Shotting zoms :/ i love this patch cause it really expands the versatility and bomb-likeness of the bomb

I'm going to laugh all night if it turns out the ragecrafters get penalized or banned for manipulation of the system.
The new bombs are pretty cool. I especially like the salt bomb line with its shock though I worry it'll make Voltaic Tempest underused outside of LD. The elemental version is pretty much exactly what we've been needing for a long time, too.
Does that make up for removing Radiant Sun Shards? I loved it way before PvP was a thing. It was the reason I got into bombs and playing more SK in general. I've been a dedicated bomber for hundreds of hours and played Lockdown for maybe 20. The update didn't expand the versatility of the bomb. If you're really lenient you can maybe call losing a way to deal with single targets, ranged targets, minerals, turrets, that one room in Scarlet Fortress where spookats spawn at each side, switches, healers and anything in Lockdown and gaining two worse piercing bombs, a worse normal bomb, a buggy elemental bomb, one worse shadow bomb and one pretty okay, but buggy shadow bomb a sidegrade.
I think Nick needs to re-evaluate the following: does the benefit of changing the functions of RSS greater than the benefit of keeping the bomb as is but preserving the emotional attachment that gamers have to this item?
The whole rationale about this bomb changing is along the line of logic of: if it's a bomb, it should act like a bomb. Therefore, RSS and other sharb bombs are flawed.
OK Nick, you may have a very strong reason to believe that argument is valid. But, the gamers are telling you already we love the old RSS because of our emotional attachment. Does that mean anything to you?
I mean, do you want to create a game that people love but broken (in your perspective), or everything works the way you want it but people hate it.

I just discovered that the Dark Matter bomb upgrades into the Salt Bombs.
Which means the Shard bomb with Jelly med. that I brought for 8k cr is now useless. Because I can't upgrade it into a rock salt bomb.

There are several forms of attachment.
I am not Emotionally attached to much in this game world.
But, I am financially attached to a couple of my items.
One of those is the RSS.
I bought and paid for the bomb, heat, and UV with time(money) and real money(CE purchase).
This thing I now have in my arsenal is not what I paid for.
So great, I now have a 3 UV ticket to use or sell.
Selling would be great if there weren't 1000's of them on the market now.
Can barely make enough off of a sale to craft a 5* Elemental Shard from scratch.
Not to mention the time(money) that will have to be spent heating the 3* and 4* to upgrade levels
Further, if I want to sell, I can't through the AH.
So, I am forced to stand on the street corner hawking my wares,
praying that someone with a decent amount of crowns/ce happens to be in earshot.

BTW, keep those accessories coming, because stun works just fine. [More Sarcasm]
And as some of you call it the old RSS. Really, when bombers (I meant full time bomber, not your gunner / swordie hybrid) tend to gain enmity quickly due to AoE nature of bombs, we need something quick and dirty to get out of danger. Don't tell me to use mist bombs because 1. stun is broken; and 2. shiver mist is too slow and doesn't work on all mobs.
What happens when all my party members are dead and I need to hit a switch to go to next level. Oh yea, a bomber needs to carry a gun now. Thank you. You just gimped one of our weapon slots because we are now forced to carry a gun. (That's a 25% discount to our effectiveness, mind you.)
