Ceeeleebrations, oh, come on!
More information on the upcoming Guild Hall update (discussion)
@ duke most times they will stay the same you just won't be able to add more members and if someone leaves you still won't be able to add more until u get under 100.
Figured as such, just can't remember if that mechanic is in this game or not.
I'm actually kind of under the assumption that an expanded roster capacity falls under the "assets" that are preserved when an upkeep payment is missed, but I can't say for sure.
I guess if the roster limit does remain higher than 100, a guild could enlist more members to help pay for the overdue upkeep, for better or for worse. >_>
I still wonder if it will be crown sink or an insane CE sink (like we need another one). Since it says that upkeep is in crowns no info on other stuff...
All of this stuff looks so nice and fun. Its like nothing can go wrong... so what's the catch? I bet we will find out when it will be released.
Test
Just have to say, this update sounds soooooooo awesome! I can't wait! OOO always delivers in the end.
Is it only me or you see it too?

Post 106 made 3 minutes after post 107, shouldnt then post 106 be after post 107?
If you edit the post, the time changes.
I hope that the roster size would refer to *active* members of the guild, and that overages caused by missed payments etc would only block new recruiting.
Otherwise, charging per guild size would create a weird incentive to boot out all players who went idle for any period of time. Since guilds and social features are part of what keeps idle players coming back... well, getting tossed out of your social circle for silly technical reasons would suck.
Guild members will never be booted from the guild as a result of missing upkeep. We may put a freeze on recruiting new members or something but you'll never have to cut down the size of your guild because of upkeep. Again, we want players who are buddies to stick together.
@Nick ---- Please do not forget to add Boswick's bush room.
Just to make sure. Only a little, if any, of this stuff is gonna cost CE, right? The prices are through the roof as it is.
Alright, thanks for clearing that up, Nick.
When will this be on the testing server to test it?
@DoctorSpaceBar
It's been said several times in this thread that the guild hall improvements will cost crowns
It sounds like the rooms and rent will cost crowns, but it wouldn't surprise me if other aspects, like furnishings, will have an associated energy cost. This update seems to describe features very much in development, so some details will probably change before launch: in this thread, Nick has done a very good job of answering questions where possible while still keeping OOO's options open with phrases like "there will likely be", "We are exploring multiple avenues", "or something", etc.
...Still exciting, of course, but I won't yet pin all my hopes on every aspect of a giant and wide-ranging feature being 100% CE-neutral. But overall, this sounds like a shared goal that will add a lot to the end game for players, and help the economy at the same time.
Even if there do turn out to be some items that cost energy to acquire (alas), I'd love to see a fair selection of crowns-only furniture. Who wouldn't want the giant ice towers from Heart of Ice in their guild hall? :D
I'm skeptical. I don't like the idea that you can lose everything you paid for. That just sounds disgusting so @$*@ this update in that regard.
I would be fine if indeed every single progress came back whenever/wherever you paid back the rent. Imagine someone spending 100 dollars for his room knowing it'd be to waste eventually. Well... f#$* that, unless i missunderstood
Normally I'd just wait for the update and see how things play out... but...
Some things to consider:
1. Some kind of list showing who withdrew what from the treasury and storage.
The situation of some random member, even a trusted one, constantly withdrawing anything and everything placed in the storage as a source of income is just stuck in my mind. It's far too easy for someone to withdraw a lot of wealth and hide it. A simple list, even if only accessible by Guild Masters and Officers, would deter that.
2. Some way to elect a new Guild Master or demote the current ones with an active majority vote.
(Or requesting an audit by a SK Gm, someone who can view the log-in dates of the guild members and say: "Yup okay this person is gone okay you're the next senior member with adequate activity you're the Guild Master now." This presents new problems but something along those lines.)
There are many guilds were the lower ranked members are active, but the Guild Head and other high ranked knights haven't logged-on in ages. I'd truly prefer not to be forced to change guilds to access these new hall features.
3. A new complaint section for Guild abuse.
This is mostly in the unfortunate instance of my first idea or in the situation where the Guild Master abuses the treasury. For example: a guild is formed and invested into by the members, then the GM removes all the other knights from the guild and flees with the items and money.
I know these aren't going to be common situations (hopefully), but the fact that they could happen is enough impetus for them to happen. As we saw with the Crystal Bomb mass crafting for UV tickets, many people are willing to gain wealth without care for the effect on the overall system or others (which is fair, but not always positive).
i am also a member of t0, and our original GM, weedle, has left spiral knights. no one can find an email address or anything. t0 was dying off due to weedle not having promoted any vets to officers until one day he got on and promoted several of the current veterans to officer, his knight is still techinically in game because he is always on the offline list. we need to know if there will be any features unaccessible to any but the gm be cause we would be affectively blocked from those upgrades. our guild is very active and this would cause us to lose many of our members, something i hope doesnt happen

EDIT: triple post was accidental not trying to spam the forum(posting from a tablet is buggy to say the least)
I just realized you said Bear Cavalry!
Fellow guildy <3
Who are you in-game?
You misunderstood. If you miss a payment, you're left with the default base until you pay it, and then you get everything back.

I don't think he misunderstood anything... "It's worth noting though that if a guild has missed their payment for a very long period of time, all guild assets will be liquidated and the GH will revert to the base hall." - Nick's reply on page 1.
Hey, how's it going?
This is actually Schattentag, founder of <Bear Cavalry>. The reason I'm listed as a Recruit currently is because I went under Manalicious-Knight's guild <Crusher of Dreams> for a while, as a sort of joke. I haven't gotten around to getting back in the Guild Master rank, but I guess I should probably do that with news of enhanced Guild Hall features. I should also probably get you promoted as well, since you've been one of the only active members of the guild recently. >__>
Feel free to message (or mail) me in-game if you've got any questions or concerns.
@Djawed, Dukeplatypus, Heimdallr
The way I understood it was that everything would remain in storage until the guild was able to make upkeep payments, but I guess we just have to wait and see. I wrote up a couple of more detailed questions back here, and I'm anxious to hear further details.
If no one in the guild pays the upkeep for a very long time (im guessing a year+), I would think that the guild would be totally dead or no one would miss it.
By the by, can you downgrade your Guild Hall, Nick?
@Pauling
"Who wouldn't want the giant ice towers from Heart of Ice in their guild hall? :D"
Me!
But since you and Saphy and others crave one I feel it's inevitable... oh well ;-P
Personally, I'm hoping that wolvers have a chance of dropping a wolver coat rug when you kill them.
Hang on, isn't this the second thread I've found myself agreeing with you in?
"there will be a logging feature to keep track of who deposited how much into the treasury, yes? I don't want nice people depositing crowns in my Guild Treasury and having random people claim credit for it."
I agree with what Aeiterealle stated above. I don't want members to deposit crowns into the upkeep and go uncredited for their efforts. Would be nice to have a log to keep track.
In our guild we have been talking about how to split the cost of the upkeep a.k.a. rent. Bookkeeping is exactly one problem we discussed. Another problem is how to actually collect the rent from individual members. Can we have an automated billing system too?
This WILL make me pay 10 bucks for CE just to get to the testing server. ME WANNA SEE!! ME WANNA SEEEEEEEEEEEE IIITTTTTT!!!!!!!!! Oh man oh man oh man. Oh, just ONE question: Are we going to be able to make our own images? (Either through uploading, or through an in game image editor with a few things to put, and maybe text, too.)
EDIT: Ok, sorry about the wanting to see it part. I'm just a little more excited about this than usual. If possible I would create something Cradlebound related. Oh, and another thing I hope that can be added is either an NPC that you can tell players certain messages or an in game message board. That would be something to pay for indeed. It's such a pain to refer all the new recruits to URL codes which you have to type into the browser.
I've loved SK since I started in 2011, the things you have been doing lately have given me new hope :)
I think message of the day and/or a bulletin board and/or the ability for GMs to send guild-wide mail would be a greatly appreciated functional upgrade.
I'm so excited for this update!!! :D
Thanks so much!
I do have a question that has been mentioned a few times above such as... Will there be a log of who is accessing the guild bank? I think it would be important on who is taking and giving to hold people accountable just in case someone decides to be greedy and take everything.
I'm really excited. I know I will enjoy this update. :D
I would like to pull Harry Mack, or Listener(in forums) into this topic.. and suggest something about creating a jukebox in a Guild Hall. ^w^
Could we ask Harry Mack to compose some songs that are only available on a jukebox? And those songs should be only able to be bought on a jukebox to play. I really want something like jazzy stuffs so I can enjoy chilling in Guild Hall instead of Haven. eehehehe~
And yeah, hopefully there's an jukebox in Guild Hall! :33
(and maybe we could play all of our game themes in a jukebox)
The addition of a Jukebox to Guild Halls would be really well appreciated, as this game's soundtracks are just too amazing for words to describe them.
If it would allow us to play any song I would constantly play Justin Bieber in my guild hall. Oh how I love to make my guildmates suffer >:D
If not, Sky Island Ambient will do.
+1 Jukebox.
~The Mighty Cheese Knight; WeeGee
YOU, go to the Suggestions board and post that idea there NAO!!!!!
@Griseolar
AND I WILL
DON'T REMIND ME OF HOW AWESOME I AM
OF BEING EXTREMELY AWESOME
or not
Some questions brought up by my guild members is regarding personal rooms. Are all the rooms for a guild hall considered common space or will there be options for officer quarters, private rooms, etc.
So does this mean I'll get my own toothbrush too?
Wait, this important.
If you miss a payment, you're temporarily put back to the base, expansion-less guild hall, right? Since guild member limits rise with the number of expansions, and if the base limit of members is still 100, what happens to the excess members after you miss a payment?
