I am wondering if skolver and Deadly viru gives the same dmg bonus and simply the viru gives the option to take advantage the bonus with all weapons.. or The damage medium on a family is better than the general bonus damage medium for sword..I am making this question because i am a swordsman and i dont find a reason why to use dead viru over skolver if the bonus damage is the same. Please explain..
What is better for Jelly family Deadly virulisk or skolver?
Skolver.
Generally, getting specialist family bonuses = bad idea.
Deadly Virulusk is in theory better, cause it will up damage for all weapons, not just swords.
However, if you look at the big picture, it's not worth it like Bopp said. Skolver will cover everything as long as you use swords.
I see it was like i suspected...No reason to make a D.viru...I think they should give them more attention..These armors lose their meaning...They should improve them not very just a little so it ll worth to craft one...Thanks for the replies
I'd say it depends on your class choice. Bopp's right about Skolver being more useful across the board, but that's under the presumption that you use a sword at least most of the time. Now if you were, say, a bomber, then Skolver would be as equally limited as D.Virulisk, so then the question comes down purely to what your loadout will be in those levels.
Personally, I use Virulisk because I like all my weapons having max'd damage and allowing my trinky slots to be freed up for bomb CTR bonuses, just to make sure that everything I use is max/max, on top of optimal defence. Can't get that with Skolver.
Fair enough, one can argue that you can't use Virulisk very far outside a slime level, but that's only as equally true as the statement that you can't use Skolver unless you're using swords; Virulisk still has decent piercing def and high poison resist (which, I admit, isn't great). Just because its bonus is specific to one family doesn't make it useless outside of that family, is all I'm meaning.
BUT yes, a key factor is whether or not you can afford to make a set for families. For all families, maybe not, but when I made mine it was specifically to farm RJP, which easily paid off the set and has made runs ever since as easy as breathing, so personally, I've found it worth it. S'really just up to your preferences.
In theory, if you're an hibrid, having one of each vs family sets would be the ultimate PvE solution.
But the costs of it are ridiculous.
If family bonuses were actually worth it, people would try to get them. As it stands now a person can have VH damage to all mobs for two weapon types with trinkets and without having to switch armor. To achieve the ultimate PVE solution you would need to constantly switch armors, on top of having to deal with the fact that multiple families tend to appear in a single stage.
@Darkbrady: wait what
In pretty much all circumstances, you are best off choosing specific armour that gives bonuses to your primary weapon type. Say you're a bomber; then you'd be best off going with the Demo sets. Bombastic and Mad Bomber give damage bonuses against all enemies, not just one. You therefore don't have to repeatedly switch out, or try to guess what enemies you might be facing, or whether your teammates might decide to go into a Danger Room and therefore screw up your idea of the enemies you're going to face.
@Little-Juances: The ultimate PvE hybrid solution is Chaos and Swiftstrike combo, I would've thought. :B
Generally good points, but this is bizarre:
"Constructs, Undead and Gremlins don't currently have a special bonus vs. armour set, either. In fact, there is no weapon that currently gives bonus vs. Gremlins at all."
There are two Undead bonus sets: Deadshot (full set) and Radiant Silvermail (armour only). There is also an anti-Gremlin weapon: the Sentenza.
I think that Darkbrady's point was: If you don't have a primary weapon type, but use all three weapon families pretty heavily, then Skolver, Shadowsun, Mad Bomber, etc. don't do much for you. You might rather have six different monster-specific armors that benefit all of your weapons. As I recall, Darkbrady is exactly this kind of mixed-weapon player. (And this is what I was getting at, in my first response above.)
derp
Yeah, I forgot Silvermail and Deadshot. Not to mention Sentenza's retweak...
Read the wiki page "Abilities". In fact, this exact example is given there. There is no difference.
Which one is better depends on whether there are monsters present other than jellies (which would make Skolver better) and whether you are using weapons other than swords (which would make Deadly Virulisk better). For me, making an armor loadout specifically for jelly levels is not worth the cost, so I just use Skolver.
