Okay, I know this has been suggested before but I'm trying to put it in a new light. Pets. Not as things that fight for you while you run away from enemies and curl up in a corner. I mean as weapons that take up slots. Each pet comes with a whip that you use to control the pet. Hover over a enemy and click, the pet will rush over and attack once. You have to click multiple times for combo hits. To limit the unfair advantage this gives you, there are some restrictions. You can't switch weapons unless your pet is next to you, this means you're kind of defenceless while your pet is gone. Each pet could have a charge attack, and a normal attack just like a weapon. When you click on a enemy, your knight would lash out the whip toward the enemy and make the pet go after them. If a enemy comes in contact with the whip, it does a little damage, as this isn't the main form of damage output. They can have alchemy paths, for example. Slime(normal tier 1 slime, 2 star)-> Pointy slime( teir 2 slime, 3*)-> Spiky slime( teir 3 slime, 4*) -> Jelly Prince( smaller version of jelly king, 5*). Each monster would deal the same type of damage they deal in the clockworks. for example. Wolver( teir 1 wolver, 2*)-> furry wolver ( teir 2 wolver, 3*)-> alpha wolver ( teir 3 wolver, 4*)-> Snarby Pup( Smaller version of Snarbolax). This wolver line would deal piercing. If the pets are hit, they become inactive for a short time, and you are unable to switch weapons until they are okay again. The pets, when not sent out to attack, will come back to you and stay at your feet. Please help me improve this idea or feel free to crush it if you really think this is a bad idea.
Weapon idea!
Everybody likes to suggest wolvers which aren't necessary.
I had a sneaking suspicion that Benightz was going to be one of the people beating me down.
What do you think of the Slime line? I also had a idea for wheeled gun pups...
I know you have a lot of experience with this stuff Ben, please give me advice.
All i see is "press a button, run away, and let the pet do all the work for you"
There should be a very small distance limit so if you try to leave your pet, it'll get teleported. At least you'll have to be close to the action to use it.
With that issue resolved, the idea then goes from overpowered to too weak. By the time you whip, the pet goes and decides to attack (or dies trying) the enemy would be dead out of boredom. It's too slow compared to guns or swords.
I was thinking the pets would attack as soon as you whip and jump over to the enemy quickly kind of like the thing wolvers do. The pets could have varied response and attack speed too...
Juances I agree with your teleportation idea, how about increase the damage output of your whip or give it knockback combined wiht the teleportation to tempt players to attack with and support their pets?
Why don't they just attack like bots? i'd wrather have a pet do its own job than doing 2 things at once.. and second of all what's the point?
Having a combat pet would be an excessive offense advantage when we are already too powerful offensively.
The point is to create a summon/pet/NPC slave to fight for you, but at the same time not fight for you; which is why I linked those four things. The first is the original engineering concept and the other three are what I was inspired to make but with significant amounts of teamplay and support tactics which would make engineering very powerful with a good team but significantly weaker alone.
That's why there is power limitations, like the few second inactivty when pet is hit. If you want to add a idea for better more improved thus fair limitations, please, do so. One thing you can do on this thread is help me by making suggestions. When an idea comes, you have to refine it. Don't just throw it away and stomp on it. All help is appreciated.
So pretty much swords with insane range? Also, this isn't a new suggestion, please take new out of your title.
Change the title. Oatmonster is right. You should change it to "Weapon idea!". Now I'm not saying that I hate this idea... pets won't blend in the game.
You're right, it kind of doesn't blend in...
Have any ideas on anyway it could blend in?
Or is this idea dead?
hm...we are knights right? How about Lances?
This isn't a whole new weapon, it'll be part of the sword family.
I have to think on this...
Or has this been already suggested and killed?
Lance = extremely long Flourish.
Lance charge = flourish charge.
Lance normal attack is charge = Piercing WRH.
So. Yeah. No. unless you can make it less overpowered.
how about creating a reason to have pets and also when i mean pet i mean a non-combatent helper. so basically the reason could be something simple as when doing a mision and u have to carry a key. the pet would do it for u so u wont be inconvinienced. it would be like a donkey lol, im kidding when i say that. but what i mean is, dont have a pet to fight. find another reason to have a pet be implemented in the game. if u cant find one create one. an example would be if missle puppies could notice you and launche missles at you from an insanely long range. ike right when u get out of puting on ur new armor, missels started to rain on you, and the pet could be there to function as a preindicator of how many missles are coming at u that u cant see, where are they coming from, and from there on, you could figure what to do. this is just an example and the pet just now did just function as a radar, and we dont have long range missee puppied in the game :P. but do u understand what i mean, create the reason why there should be a pet that acompanies you down to the clockworks.
Totally new concept Blandaxt, let's see what people think of that.
Your saying a pet as an helper right? With non-combat capabilities.
there would have to be a reason that the pets are brought along though, that reason hasn't been created yet.
Pets like snipes can't fight. Pets will also do the work for you while you grab a beach chair, and eat a bag of YUM YUM chips.
Why is Yum Yum chips a problem? On some missions or even as a trinket. I don't see why pets that help you out are a problem.
Say the same thing about people hiding behind Brandish/Sealed charge attack projectiles.
I dare you.
What about a pet that is just an aura accessory -_- who uses the aura slot anyway (The VERY rich only).
People like wolvers kuz they're furry.
having pets as a non combatent is as helpful as having a floating ball that follows in the clockworks picking up ur mats. i dont know how ur gonna be able to hide behind it with polyps that shoot those projectiles at u and wolvers that teleport straight to ur but cheeks. i dont know how else u want to degrade its capabilities besides being a non-combatent. there isnt any problems with having a pet that does a specific function that is helpful while it does not engage in any combat. if there is something wrong with it, please verify in a clear way that i can understand.
Why are so many people obsessed with Wolvers?
See this and/or all of these.
